18 Strange isn't it?

"Come back here!"

I heard yelling behind me but I was determined to find out what was going on. We were at an exhibition fair when I saw a hooded figure moving in the shadows.

We spent a boring week at school without Alex. Everything was as usual at school; players, gossip, bitches, drama, boring lectures and tests. None of these are fun for me. Katherine started sitting with us and she is so fun. She was a shy girl before but now that we are spending more time together she is so funny and has an artistic soul like me. I can't wait to introduce her to Alex.

I saw Samantha and her tooties glaring at her and every time they did that I blocked her from their sight and glared back at them. Now that she is my friend they will have to deal with me before reaching her. And trust me it's not easy to get away messing with Isabella Hills.

I was hoping to see Xavier more but he was nowhere. I saw Raven and Dylan a few times in the parking and gym. I am also on good terms with Dylan now. He was cold and closed at first but now he is totally like Raven. I like them. But me and Sandi never got the chance to fulfill our plan of making them spill their secret. Maybe school is not the best place to talk.

Sandi told me about this exhibition of thrifted clothes and jewelry with food stalls and games on Friday night. I am a sucker for all of these so I quickly accepted to go. Alex didn't come with us because he has family parties on Friday nights which he has to attend.

We used to sneak out but his father found out once and grounded him for a week so we never did that again.

Good times those were!

We were trying food and watching different stuff when I noticed a hooded figure in the shadows. At first I thought it was just my lame vision. But it's movement confirmed my suspicion.

As curiosity is in my blood so I decided to follow it. Maybe he is a thief or something. It was my chance to prove myself as a hero and save the world.

Kidding!

I was just curious to see what was happening. It's been a boring week so I may have some fun. I told Sandi to stay there and wait for me. I didn't tell her that I was following someone or she wouldn't let me go. I didn't take her with me because I can't risk her being hurt because her nervous ass is so bad at fleeing from the scene.

She was yelling at me to come back but soon her voice was blended with the noise of people as I made my way towards the darker side of the area.

Light from poles was barely reaching there. There was nothing unexpected there except some dark trees and bushes. I made a bored face and was about to turn back when I heard some muffled voices coming from the trees.

I wanted to go and see but something in my head was screaming danger. Maybe I should just go back and forget about it.

So I did the most sensible thing I should have done. I moved towards the trees. Okay maybe it was not the most sensible thing but there was no going back now..

I will just hide behind the trees and see. Also it's quite dark so no one will see me, I thought. The voices were getting nearer. I tried my best not to make any noise.

There was a little moonlight but not enough to see properly. I saw two silhouettes a little far away from me. I quickly hid behind the nearby tree. I couldn't help but feel like living my detective dream for a while. I couldn't hear them properly. Maybe they were planning to rob the place. I made up a possible scenario in my head, like all the professional detectives do.

But my brain was frozen when I saw one person taking out a gun. It was the same hooded figure from before. The metal was shining in the moonlight.

He said something to the other and placed the gun on his head. I didn't hear any shot but the other person fell down on the ground with a thud.

Next thing I saw was his forehead visible in the moonlight, blood ogling out of the dark hole in it and the next thing I heard was a scream.

My own scream!

I noticed the hooded figure was alert and looking in my direction. Though he couldn't see me in the dark, my eyes were bulging out of their sockets in fear. I started running towards the fair without glancing back but my body was shaking. Why the hell I decided to follow him?

This will haunt me for the rest of my life!

The light seemed so far away and I felt like it would take me forever to reach there. In my detective spirit, I didn't notice how far I went. I tried calling Sandi or someone for help but I knew no one was going to hear my cries of help in that noisy fair.

Almost there...

Almost there...

But I didn't manage to get away because soon someone grabbed me by my waist and I was pinned to a tree with a hand pressed on my mouth.

That's it...

It's over...

I didn't live enough to see Sandi's and Alex's babies..

Someone take care of them and my parents after me...

I closed my eyes tightly saying prayers while my body was shaking uncontrollably and tears started coming out of my closed eyes. I shouldn't have left Sandi alone. This is my punishment for not listening to her.

Forgive me Sandi...you have to continue living without me...

I wanted to defend myself but what I saw made me weak. It's not that you see a hooded figure killing someone in front of your eyes everyday.

He had a gun!

He killed someone!

He killed someone and I saw it!

He will definitely get rid of the evidence.

He removed his hand and I wanted to scream but nothing came out except a sob.

"Please don't kill me. I will not tell anyone please..I didn't even see your face." I said weakly, my eyes still closed.

I was lying. If I managed to get out alive I will definitely report to the police. He can kill me afterwards, at least my purpose of life would be fulfilled. But the point then was if!

And then something unexpected happened. A hand rested on my cheeks and I flinched in fear but a thumb moved on my face gently to wipe away the tears.

What if he is a pervert too? The thought choked me. My mind was screaming at me to do something but my limbs were not listening.

Atleast open your eyes stupid!

Slowly, I opened my eyes and what I saw next took away all the remaining strength from my knees. I would have collapsed on the ground but he held me and pressed my body against his. My face was buried in his chest while he held my shaking figure in his arms. My hands clutching the fabric of his hoodie.

I don't know why but I felt safe in his arms. My mind was shouting something else but my heart somehow knew that he would not harm me.

Strange isn't it?

Feeling safe in someone's embrace who just freaking killed a person in front of your eyes.

Maybe all this situation took away my ability to think straight...

"I am sorry you saw that." He said almost whispering near my ear. His lips brushed lightly against my skin giving a strange giggly feeling inside my stomach.

I was too shocked to move or think.

What was happening?
