10 Being Clean Trumps All

After Kasdeya finished her meal she sat on the ground and gazed at the remains of the Bloodhound.

'This was the first battle that I truly risked my life in. I feel like I've accomplished a milestone, if this was a game then I'd definitely get an achievement for killing the first boss. The only problem though is that this isn't a game and if I take any hits then I'll have to suffer the consequences.'

With a sigh she looked down at her left arm, but to her surprise it had actually recovered quite a bit with a lot of the flesh being repaired.

'Well this is definitely a nice surprise, it appears that another advantage of my new self is very good healing abilities, and now that I'm not worried about losing my arm forever I can finally answer one of my previous questions, it appears that my skeleton is, in fact, black. Which is weird because my teeth are still white but I won't question it.'

On to more important matters, my stats should DEFINITELY have gone up after that. If they haven't then I have no idea how this is supposed to work.'

[Name: Kasdeya Votumea

Race: Devil

Gender: Female

Age: Ageless

Level: 13

Strength: 18

Endurance: 20

Soul: 23

Luck: 3]

'MY STATS WENT UP! YES! And all of them went up by eight, does that mean the first five levels don't give stat bonuses then? That's kinda dumb, but that hardly matters, because MY STATS FINALLY IMPROVED! This right here is a clear indication that my effort wasn't wasted and it was worth it hunting all of those dogs and bearing the pain of getting my arm crushed.

However my luck didn't improve at all, that's slightly annoying as that was the stat I wanted the most. Oh well.'

Deciding that she should spend some time to completely recover, Kasdeya walked with a slight limp over to the nearest house and attempted to open the door. Surprisingly the house was unlocked so she entered it before locking the door and did a quick search to see what was available.

The house was a little bit more furnished than the last one as it had a table, a few chairs, some cabinets and a bed, so she walked to the bed planning on having a nice long nap, but right before she did she suddenly realised that she was still covered head to toe in blood, to the point when anyone seeing her wouldn't even think that her natural skin colour was white.

'Damn, I really need to clean my body as I am filthy, it doesn't particularly bother me when I'm walking around and fighting but I really want to be clean if I'm going to sleep.'

With this thought Kasdeya went to the kitchen to see if the running water was still working, however, it obviously wasn't.

'Double damn, am I really going to have to look for some other source of water?'

Deciding that being clean was more important than sleeping, Kasdeya left the house and climbed onto the roof to get a look at her surroundings. Not spotting anything helpful she decided to just follow the streets to see if she can find anything.

After ten minutes of following the road Kasdeya happened to glance up and see a canal a few blocks to her right so she immediately changed directions and headed to it. Upon arriving at the calmly moving river she didn't think twice before leaping into it with a splash.

A lot of the blood was washed off of her in the initial impact with the water but some of it still clung to her so she used her hands with her claws retracted to rub those areas, paying extra attention to the places with creases that the coagulated blood got stuck in.

She started with pulling her fingers through her hair which was all stuck together before rubbing her upper body. She then systematically moved down past her nicely proportioned waist and hips before extending her tail around herself and carefully cleaning off all the muck. While she finished rubbing off all the fluids on her tail she used her other hand to start removing the grime from her legs and feet before quickly cleaning between her legs and not dwelling on the foreign sensations that were transmitted to her brain during this process.

After suitably cleaning herself she walked back out of the water with her tail trailing behind her and swishing slightly before she started jogging in order to get back to her nicely furnished, temporary accommodations.

After arriving back at her designated residence she immediately went inside and closed and locked the door, after which she started pondering on future plans.

'Hmm, I don't really know what I'm going to do from here. I guess the only real goal I have is to get stronger and survive but that's not really much to go on. I should probably aim to achieve my first job or evolution then try to leave this town or at the very least explore it some more as all I've seen so far is a residential area and a stream.

For now though, I'm going to enjoy my long awaited nap, recover a bit more than when I wake up, probably practice some moves to see what I can really do with my new body in terms of fighting as so far I've just been flailing a bit and learning on the go. That's all a job for tomorrow night though.'

Then, with these concluding thoughts, Kasdeya walked into the bedroom, sat on the bed and curled up before falling asleep.
