"Celestia!"
"Celestia, kiddo! Wake up!"
"You'll be late on your first day of your new school! Honey, you need to wake up."
I groaned, another reason not to wake up, Lincoln Public School, the seventh school of my high school life. Another round of stares, whispering and taunts. I thought I would eventually get used to it but no, one could never get used to being new.
I opened my eyes and peeked at Silena looking at me. I got up from my lying position and looked around my surrounding, a purple and white themed room. So far, this would probably be the most beautiful foster house I've ever been to. Surely, Silena and her husband, William were well off people.
"Celestia, I thought you put alarm.", Silena said.
I looked at the pathetic over gadgetized alarm clock which sat on the white night stand, almost mocking me.
"I did, but it's such a complicated alarm clock. I had never used something like this in my life. I'm sorry, foster mom."
Silena gave me a sad smile but her eyes almost melted at my words, "Well hurry up, Sam has already eaten breakfast."
I got out of bed as Silena left the room and went to my bathroom. Sam was the adopted son of Silena and William. I was happy to stay here until a few months came by and I turned eighteen. Then I'm almost on my own. I had decided that I would take a job and study at a community college. It was a nice home. And it really was a 'home'. Both of my foster parents took care of me and got me enrolled in a nearby school not to forget Sam who liked me too. He was in second grade and I always helped him in his homework. I had been here for a week and we had bonded almost instantly.
He was also a bit upset when he found out that I'd be going to school and he wouldn't be able to see me the moment he returned home. But then he came up with something called 'The Day Plan'. I had smiled at the paper which had contents on how we would go to the park in the evenings. And the time I would help him I'm his homework. He even involved a list of animated movies he'd like to see with me on weekends.
I was thinking how did I get so lucky to fall upon a foster house like this. My mother had died giving birth to me and my step father was an alcoholic. The state found out about my condition and initiated a foster plan for me. I was happy to get out of the hell hole but deeply I had a desire to somehow meet my biological father.
Thinking all this, I quickly took a shower and changed into a white shirt and blue jeans. I wore my black high tops William bought me and took my black aviator jacket. I wanted to look fine on my first day. I then quickly arranged my dark locks in a high ponytail and took my bag.
When I got down I saw William was reading a newspaper on the dining table. He glanced at me, "Good morning, Celestia. Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah, I did.", I smiled at him as I took some cereal in the bowl and poured some milk. Sam smiled at me cheekily and dumped some of his milk in my bowl. I glared at him, "If you don't drink milk you'll not become strong then you can forget becoming Spiderman."
"Hey I don't need milk for that. Just radioactive spiders.", he said.
"Aren't you smarty pants. But if you don't finish up your milk I won't watch Epic with you this Staurday", I told him.
"Mom! Celestia is blackmailing me!", he pointed accusingly at me and I rolled my eyes.
"She's right Sam, you need to drink up your milk.", Silena said as she pecked Sam on his head then she looked at me with questioning eyes. I held my hands in air, "I'm fine."
She chuckled and kissed my head as well. Damn, life was good.
"Let's go kids. Time for school.", William picked up his car keys and both, I and Sam went out and sat in the car. We dropped Sam first and then stopped in front of my school. I won't lie, I think shuddered.
"You'll do fine. You're a good girl, Celestia. I and Silena always wanted a daughter like you and trust me a few months with you will be a dream come true for us.", William smiled.
"I'm really thankful to both of you."
"You'll do fine just stay out of trouble and get good grades."
"I won't let you down.", I said and moved out of the car. William drove off to his office and I stood there seeing the brownish building in front of me. I paced forward and noticed kids piling up in the parking lot, laughing and talking. I went straight to the reception and asked for my schedule and locker details after giving them my name. A middle aged woman handed me my essentials and I went on a spree to find my locker.
Which I couldn't.
I heard the bell and then I panicked as I didn't want to be late to class on my first day. I ran maniacally across the hallway to find my locker and slammed face first into something, more like someone.
Damn! I had went straight into a tall girl. She had a look of utter annoyance on her face as she looked me with her mesmerising golden eyes. She kept observing me. At first her eyes were filled with fire, then I saw confusion in them and after that they softened.
Weird.
"I'm so sorry! I just couldn't find my locker and I'm new here and it just sucks so much... ", she raised her hand in front of me indicating me to shut up. She took my schedule and locker details and other papers out of my hand and started goimg through them.
I, on the other hand, gawked at her appearance. She had dark almost black hair, three times darker than mine. She was thin but not model thin, it felt as if she worked out. I bet she could strangle a jock in a few seconds. She looked so confident in her black skinny jeans which had a slit on the knees and a red flannel shirt. She was tall almost 5'9 and I bet she surpassed 6 feet by wearing the black wedged ankle length boots. I on the other hand was 5'7 and a complete wimp in front of her.
"Celestia Hales, you got chem and bio with me.", she looked at me and continued, "I'll show you your locker. Follow me."
And I did without asking her why she was helping me and being late to her class. I would be honest if I said that she didn't seem to be a helping kind, to me. She stopped in front of a locker which I supposed was mine.
"We got a test in Chem today.", she said.
"Oh I'll take it. You see I love chemistry, maybe I'll do fine."
She looked at me like I just told her I had six hands.
"Well then you'd get along with Ryan, I think. He's a nerd too.", she said.
"Hey! I'm not a nerd and is this Ryan cute?", I said as I followed her to the class. If I acted cool maybe she'd be my friend.
"Well I guess he is. Just not when he's angry. And trust me, he's angry half the time", she chuckled.
"Then he's a jerk."
She stopped and glared at me with such intensity that I almost became goo. "Don't disrespect him like that, ever."
"I'm sorry.", I said. What's up with this girl.
We entered the class and a man in his mid forties who I knew would be my Chem teacher, was distributing papers. "I can't believe Ms. Wellington, you're just five minutes late."
The girl I came with rolled her eyes and sat at the back at the class. The teacher who introduced himself as Mr. Abalone, motioned me to take a seat. I nearly laughed at his surname. I was handed a test too. I peeked a glance at the girl and she had a deadly snare on her face as she took the test.
Well, someone's not gonna ace it.
After, the bell rang we handed over our papers. I was pretty happy with my performance. I knew most of the answers and I was sure I could at least get a B+.
I noticed the girl going out of the class when I called her, "Hey! What's your name?"
She looked at me with a smirk and sprinted off saying, "Ardia."

My day went fine. I found my way to all the classes with some help and I exceptionally liked the calculus teacher. I wasn't a big fan of calculus but the way she explained everything was quite amazing. I was hoping I'd like the subject now atleast in my fnal year.
It was lunch, so I got to the cafeteria and bought lunch which had aa sandwich and an apple. I then looked around to find a table to sit. My eyes landed on Ardia who was seated at a table in the middle of the cafeteria with her legs sprawled on the table. She was munching on her apple.
I moved to her and asked, "Can I sit here?"
She took a bite from her apple, "Free country."
"Where are your friends?"
"Both of them are sick"
"Both? Together?"
"Ahan."
I decided to not dissect the topic of her friends being sick at the same time. It might feel sneaky.
"Is Ryan your friend?", I asked. Way to go not trying to be sneaky.
She smirked giving me an amused look, "Yeah he is."
"So, where are you from?", Ardia asked me.
"I'm from here only. I just got placed with new fosters a week ago so they got me enrolled here."
She nodded at me. As if trying to hide something from her eyes.
"It sucks to not have real parents.", she said.
"Well my foster parents are really good folks. And I'd give anything to get myself away from my stepfather.", I told her.
"Your mom?", she asked.
"She died giving birth to me.", I told her.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I didn't know her, honestly. I don't really have anything to miss her except for maybe she was my mom."
She nodded again. I thought she would tell me something about herself too and I must say I was a little disappointed when she didn't say anything.
We were eating lunch in silence when her phone buzzed on the table. I peeked a glance. The caller ID was of someone named 'Andy Franky' and a picture of a handsome boy.
She frowned and picked up her phone, "This would take a moment. Wait here then we'll go to biology together.", I gave her a smile.
When she left I noticed almost the whole cafeteria was staring at me. I felt myself heat up. I thought I had something on my face so I absent mindedly moved my hand on my cheeks. There was nothing. I checked my clothes. But there was no weird stain. I dragged my hand on my hair, they felt fine as well. I was probably so red that the tomato ketchup on my plate would have been brought to shame.
"Did Ardia Wellington talk to you? OMG! She let you sit with her?", a blond girl asked me.
"Um...yeah. It's no biggie. She's kinda nice", I told her.
She looked at me like I just grew another head, "I can't believe it. You better be something for such an attention.", and then she ran off as she saw Ardia coming towards me. I heard the bell ring as well.
"Come on let's get you to bio. Don't tell Mrs. Weatherby you're my...um...aquaintance. She'll be all over you ass just because you know me.", she said.
I felt a bit bad that she referred me as her acquaintance and not as her friend but who was I kidding this was the nearest I had got to a friend on the first day of my school. And I'd say it was a bit weird. And definitely when, almost the whole school was as baffled as me. I silently followed her to the class.

"Damn, she hates you!", I exclaimed as we came out from biology.
"Told you.", she chuckled and continued, "your physics will be second room after you take a right, down that hallway.", she said pointing in the direction.
"Thanks, Ardia. I'm so glad someone like you came up to help me. It really means a lot.", I told her.
"Don't mention. And Celestia, stay out of trouble.", she said. But her expression was different. It was confusing and I couldn't understand what it meant.
She paced down the hallway without giving me a second glance and I went towards my class.
I didn't see Ardia again after that. Not even when school was over. And thoroughout the time, everyone whispered behind my back. And it was all about how the school's badass, who only hung out with two of her peeps, actually helped me through the day.
