The purple tint of the sky indicated that the dusk had swarmed in. Hazey shimmering of the stars along with the moon, spread across the sky. My eyes fell on the brightly lit neon sign in front of me. It read: 'Full Moon Night Club'
How obvious.
The cool November wind fluttered across my face and I felt dark brown hair prickling my left cheek. My eyes fell on Ardia, leaning onto my left. Her golden eyes were spot on the three men who just entered the Night club. We had been following these three for about an hour.
"They're here.", a voice to my right spoke. Andy, looked at me and I gave him a nod.
"This will be fun.", Ardia spoke with an evil smirk on her face. Her eyes had a certain fire in them which shouted mischief.
"For the love of moon goddess, Ardy, please just don't kill them straight away. We need vital information this time.", Andy said to her.
"Did you just 'please' me?", she said with an amused smile on her face.
"No, I did not."
"Yes. Yes, you did. Well it's pleasant you know. It's high time you showed some respect to your Beta, she rightly deserves."
Ardia was my beta. She was among the very rare females who were given a high position in the pack except for the Lunas. And she was more than capable for her rank. She was smart and clever. I would agree she had some temper issues but deep down she was a kind person. Apparently, very deep down though. Her dark hair and golden eyes went perfectly with her personality.
Andy on the other hand had that face which I knew meant that he was ready to annoy the living daylights out of her. This usually ended with a head smacking, hair pulling and knuckle crackling fight between them.
"Well, my precious Beta, I'm the gamma, I'm the warrior supreme of the pack. So as strategy goes, I suggest you keep your claws a bit mild", he said.
"I don't take orders from loser gammas!"
Okay, that's enough.
I cut them both, "Stop it you guys! If we are flaunting ranks then I'm the alpha. So just be quiet and concentrate here."
This shut them both off. Even though we were new with our ranks in the pack, we had been doing this for a long time and by this I meant raiding for vampires, following them and the most fun part, killing them.
"Those are three Northern Vampires. We have to be careful and smart.", I told them. I knew they both took it seriously but there's no harm in reminding them. Their attention span seemed to get less and less as they start arguing with each other.
See, Northern Vampires or simply Northerners are a rare species of vampires. They are dangerous, extremely cunning and barbaric. We never had one in our territory before and therefore, the sudden presence of three was a matter of great concern.
We stopped leaning on my SUV and moved inside the Night Club. The lighting was dim inside and the smell of alcohol had stenched the place along with a faint tinge of sweat.
I also smelled the presence of other vampires too but tonight we were interested only in the three Northerners.
This place is always packed with vampires that's why we usually avoid this. And if it's insanely necessary to visit, we usually come in big numbers. But this time the situation had surpassed 'insanely necessary'. It does when Northern Vampires are involved.
I inhaled deeply and sensed the smell of a Northerner. I scanned the area and my eyes fell on the brown haired Northerner. He was sipping liquor. I sashayed my way towards him with Andy on my heels. On my way I got a couple of growls from other vampires showing off their fangs. But they sensed the scent of an alpha and backed away.
From the corner of my eye I saw Ardia dancing with a blonde Northerner. Even though she had her glamorous smile on her face I noticed her movements to be cautious.
Good, I thought.
The blonde's eyes were narrowed. He knows. But then it was pretty easy for a vampire to sense werewolves' presence around, especially for a Northerner Vampire.
I approached the brown haired one and casually asked him, "Are you new here? Never seen you before?"
The vampire eyed me and Andy. His eyes narrowed and the little vein in his jaw twitched. He gazed over his blonde companion grinding with a female werewolf.
"Yeah, I and my other two colleagues were here for a conference. We ended early so we decided to entertain ourselves", he said. By the look of his face he knew ever jab he would throw would go in vain. We both could smell each other easily. Clearly knowing what we both were.
Andy asked, "Where did you have the conference?"
"Lana Towers."
"Where's the third one?", I asked. This made him irritated.
"He's out to get a cab. We're leaving." he looked toward the blonde one and shouted over the loud music, "Hey yo! Rafael! We're leaving!"
Rafael and Ardea came towards us. "Enjoying ourselves, Caden.", Rafael directed his words towards the dark haired one when their third companion who was a red head came and informed them about a cab. He was a bit out of his breath. Small beads of sweat were glazed on his temples and he was escaping eye contact.
Suddenly the idea of three Northern Vampires with a mere human cab driver didn't sound like a really nice idea to me. They might suck the poor human till he's just flesh and bones. I looked at Ardia.
"Rafael just told me you guys were up for dinner. We know this amazing retro place! You guys should come with us.", she said. Caden seemed a bit nervous and annoyed at the same time. Rafael on the other hand was enjoying himself a bit too much. His eyes lingered on Ardea's body for an unnecessarily long amount of time and his smirked grew even more.
"Well, I'm hungry. ", he said eyeing Ardia's bust. Her left eye twitched and she blinked rapidly. A sign I and Andy have seen a lot of times and understood that it meant she wanted to slaughter blondy with her bare hands.
"It's settled then. Caden and Ryan can go in Ryan's car.", Andy pointed at me and continued, "I, Ardy, Rafael and..."
"Greg.", said the red head.
"Right, Greg can come in my car."
After this plan the vampires had a heated discussion which I thought was about building a strategy to kill us.
Not today, I thought.
We moved out and settled in our cars. I kept my door unlocked to be prepared for an unsaid attack by Caden. We want one of them alive and none of us three dead.
The tension was heavy in the air. Every move made was cautious and every word spoken felt forced.

"How far is this place?", Caden asked.
"Not much."
That's when I noticed a commotion in the rear view of the car and saw Andy's car going in a zig zag motion. It only meant that Ardia had already picked on a fight. I sighed and turned my car in a dark and deserted alley.
Caden noticed it as well and threw a punch at my face. I dodged, applied the breaks and jolted out of the car. I saw the same happening with Andy and Ardia. Both of them lunged at the Northerners.
Caden growled at me, his fangs growing. He threw a punch that I dodged. Then another and then he kicked me. His foot landed on my torso.
He's fast. But I'm faster. I smirked at him. He tried the same strategy with me but before his foot could connect with my body I grabbed it and flipped him over. Something felt off. For a Northern Vampire who were infamous for their strength and barbarism, this one seemed quite bland to me.
In the hindsight I saw Ardia giving her signature high kick to Rafael. And Andy threw a punch square on Greg's eye. By this time Caden was back on his feet. I lunged at him. Pulling his arm and smashing my elbow on his shoulder. He flinched in pain.
He tried to throw a punch but got a but distracted as Greg's face was torn off his body by Andy and was thrown off. Caden growled, he lunged forward but I kicked him.
A black heeled boot smashed across his face. Ardia. He fell limp on the ground.
I saw the scene around me. Three unmoving bodies lying on the ground. Two dead and one barely alive. Ardia sighed, "Those were pretty awful Northerners. Like where did they got trained? Kindergarten."
"For once Ardy, I'll agree with you. These didn't seem so nasty as we were taught growing up.", Andy remarked.
Something was off. They smelled like Northerners, yet they didn't seem so much like them. Andy eyed his car which now resembled a huge bundle of scrap metal. Ardia patted his shoulder in sympathy. He shoved a hand in his dark hair. And gave a frustrated cry, "My baby..."
"It's okay Andy. We'll get it fixed.", I said.
"In your your dreams.", Ardia said. I gave her a long stare which she returned with a 'it's-not-gonna-happen' look.
I called some pack members to burn the two vampire corpses and then with Andy's help I placed Caden in the back seat of my car.
"No way in heaven I'm sitting with this Vampire shit in the back seat", Ardia commented.
"Yes, that's exactly where you're going to sit.", you guessed right its, Andy.
"Oh yeah make me!", she said and instantly screeched as Andy picked her up and threw her on his shoulder.
"Put me down Orlando Franklin you little fu..."
"Guys just stop! Andy, put Ardy down this is not the time. Wait till we reach the pack house then you can continue your nasty in a closed room.", I said.
Both of them gave me an utterly disgusted look and I chuckled. I looked at Caden's lifeless body and my demeanor became solemn.
"Let's go, we got to pull some information out of a vampire gut."
