A Violet-Alphabet User

When there were no longer magical pressure problems, Merlin could move swiftly again. To use Lemegeton’s power, he just had to continually give it his magical power. The magical power was an exchange for him to move comfortably.

That was a small problem because he had a lot of magical-power-restoring potions stocked in his ring. Every time he was running out of magical power, the potions would be immediately picked up for the refill.

Merlin still had one more problem: exhaustion; the continuous use of magical power consumed so much of his energy. It was inevitable to lose the body’s energy on non-stop traveling.

But fortunately, the goddess of luck was on his side. Previously, he had invented a ton of new potions, and one of those was called the fatigue-reduction potion.

He felt like a beloved son of Heaven at the moment. Everything seemed to be going his way.

Although Merlin had produced potions with different benefits, he never had a thought of releasing them into the market. They had such amazing benefits; giving them too much exposure would simply be rather bad than good.

The good and bad sides of these potions were like he was keeping a tiger on his side: it could be beneficial, as well as harmful.

Merlin had no idea how many enemies he would have in the future. So, one day the potions he produced might become the friends that came back and betrayed him.

Therefore, he always reminded Matin to sell limited numbers of the potions; the new potions were to be sold partially only.

His plan after finishing the business with this tower was, firstly, to prove his doubts about Solomon’s possessions involving Arthur’s sword. If that sword was really Solomon’s belonging, he would have to figure out how to take it.

Secondly, it was about Merlin’s mother in this world. He had to show gratitude for this body’s owner. Even though Maye was not his real mother, he could feel the relationship of a mother and son during that short time. He wanted to get Maye out of Szirtes Castle to live comfortably.

In fact, Merlin had thought about ordering Matin to pick her up since he was at the Blue Cloak Shop. But it was not so easy because even though Maye was treated like a servant, she was still a daughter-in-law of the Szirtes family. So, getting Maye out was not such an easy thing to do.

Another thing was that Matin’s men and Maye were strangers; it was hard for Maye to trust those men and follow them out despite his name being said.

Merlin had thought about all these things thoroughly.

From the previous body owner's memories about Maye, she was an orphan found in the river flowing through the castle. She was raised by the people from the Szirtes family and given the position of a servant.

Then, Szirtes Witcher, who already had two wives, was interested in her; that made her Witcher’s second minor wife.

Maye’s life was bitter; she was abandoned by her family and her dead husband, Witcher. Clearly, she had nowhere else to turn to but the Szirtes family. So it was hard to have a stranger pick her up.

Merlin had to finish all the business before he could go get her.

He was heading up to the Great Magic Tower’s next floors without stopping. Without the obstacles from the magical pressure, he was walking very quickly. Finally, he arrived at the thirty-fifth floor.

This floor had a lethally dense magical pressure. Barely the vision here was like being under a deep, dusky ocean. The magical pressure looked like slushing energy waves which could be clearly seen by the naked eye.

Merlin, firstly, headed towards the room keeping the magical-seal stones then went to the next floor as he had always done. His target now was the thirty-eighth floor which was the highest floor of the tower.

However, he was puzzled when the maze on the thirty-fifth floor had a different formation from the previous ones.

Arriving at this strange hallway, he found that its pattern was mysterious and puzzling. Inside, there were black chains giving off a sacred aura tangling up all over the place. There were so many of these chains, so many more than the strings on a spider web.

The thick magical pressure could not move those chains even a bit.

They were obviously quite strong; nobody could guess what they were made of; surely, they were not typical.

Merlin was still using Lemegeton’s power continuously.

Stepping into the hallway, he could feel the strange energy being sent out. It was stern and aggressive. Nevertheless, these chains were even more powerful.

He touched them by accident; that made his whole body tremble.

Merlin speeded up his pace through the black chains to the stairway to the next floor.

Out of nowhere, he heard a strange, spine-tingling voice.

HA…HA…HA

That laugh was hoarse; still, there was a powerful aura coming out of it. That laugh was filled with overflowing feelings.

Gratitude. Sadness. Desperation. Wrath. These feelings were all in that laugh.

Merlin looked around to find its source. Walking past those black chains to the center of the hallway, he found a man fastened in black chains. They went through his skin, muscles, and bones.

His body was thin like a corpse but he was still alive; if he was dead, he would not be able to laugh like this. He had been confined in this tower for a long time.

The corners of the old man’s mouth were slowly raised. He turned to Merlin and said,

“For..thousand…ten…thousand…or…hundred…thousand…years…I…have…never seen…anyone…for…so long.”

Every word was uttered hardly. His voice was so husky as if he had never drunk anything for a long, long time.

The ancient man seemed frail; however, Merlin could feel his real power; the image in front of him was a lie. This corpse-like man was not ordinary.

The person locked in chains stared at Merlin with bloody-red eyes, like they were not those of a human.

Merlin could not help thinking if he was still a human. He just said that he had been here for ten or a hundred thousand years. What kind of a person could live this long?

Being locked up in this place meant that this old man had to be special.

“Old-timer…who are you? How did you end up here?” Merlin asked doubtfully.

HA…HA…HA…

“Child…who…am…I...? HA…HA…HA…you…are…not…capable…of…knowing…my name…now…with your…present power.”

That husky voice was uttered slowly and hardly. Even though it did not sound pleasant, it was really powerful.

“I apologize for bothering you, elder. If you do not wish to talk to me, I will have to excuse myself.”

Merlin cut the conversation short. Although he knew that this man was a mighty figure, talking to him made Merlin annoyed. He was too impatient to wait for the old man to finish each sentence.

Having said that, he headed in the direction of the stairs to the next level right away.

However, not even ten steps he had taken, an unexpected event happened. There appeared in front of him a form of barrier shining out violet color; it was obstructing him.

It was unwarned; with the barrier appearing out of nowhere, Merlin hit it hard.

BANG!

The boy’s body instantly bounced back for several steps.

Looking closely at it, Merlin found that this barrier was filled with the ancient magical alphabet. Besides, it was shining out violet-colored energy.

Maybe! This was the power of the violet magical alphabet.

Merlin turned around to the elder again. His face was now painted with a hideous smile. The corners of his mouth were lifted as though he was ridiculing Merlin.

With all these things, it was obvious that this magical alphabet barrier was the old man’s doing. He was a violet-alphabet user.

The elder was blocking his way.

“What does he want?” Merlin could not help but wonder.

“Elder, would you please kindly let me go?” Said Merlin politely because he knew that a violet-alphabet user was not someone he could fight.

“HA…HA…HA…of course…NOT” Answered the old man slowly, just like before.

After hearing that, Merlin’s face suddenly turned cold.

“What do you want?” The kid asked bravely. His voice was a little bit strong.

“Smart…s…mart…although…you…have…his…belong…ing…that…helps…you…get…here…but……”

All of a sudden, the old man stopped talking. He just stopped without any warnings.

“What on earth is this?” Seeing the elder staying still for a long time, Merlin said in confusion.

Although his red eyes were still open, there was no sign that they would even move.

The elder froze like a wax figure.

Merlin walked to the old man to check. But unforeseeably, he was caged in the violet-alphabet barrier; he could not get close to the old man or even get out of here.

Bloody hell!

Almost two hours had passed, finally, the elder spoke again,

“But…but…”

The sentence was not even finished and he stopped talking again!

He stopped again!

What on earth was going on?!

Now, Merlin could not move on, and, at the same time, move back.

The violet-alphabet barrier was extremely strong and powerful. Each alphabet was mysterious and formidable.

It seemed like the only thing he could do right now was wait. He had to wait for the elder to let him out of this imprisonment.

Ten minutes later, the old timer started talking again.

“Bu…bu.. but it was an insignificant power compared to me hahahaha!”

“Alright! You must be curious why I am keeping you here. It is because you have Solomon’s possessions. He! He was the one who put me here! I am wrathful…I loathe him.”

This time the old man was speaking agilely. That slow talk was gone.

But when talking about Solomon, he was rancorous and enraged.

For he had been waiting for a long time, Merlin was too bored to care. He directly asked his intention for keeping him here. The old man became sluggish again.

“What do you want me to do?”

“HAHAHA, it seems like you are tired of being here. No surprise, I am sick of it as well. I will say what I intended to say.” The elder looked at Merlin and said,

“Listen you scamp, I know that you have that rascal Solomon’s eye and spear, and what…I….want…..is……”

For the love of god! He did not finish his sentence again!
