5 Chapter 5

-December 24 20XX-

Liam was a 19-year-old young man who loved to play games, and today, instead of his usual day of staying at the house playing games, he packed up his bags and left the house with excitement written on his face.

"I got chosen as one of the 500 people!" he posted on social media with excitement, who doesn't like to brag about it? there were millions of players who were hoping to be chosen by the Anonymous company to play their new VR game: Deus Machina and being chosen was all about luck.

Liam even thought that he had used all of his luck just for this moment, and today, he was on his way towards the headquarters of the anonymous, he didn't know why but Anonymous have told the chosen 500 players to come to their headquarters.

Liam was curious but he doesn't really care, as long as he could play, it was enough, Liam grinned as he skipped happily on the streets not caring about the weird looks he was getting.

*Screech!

Liam heard a loudly sound of wheels screeching on the street which startled him, when he turned his head, he saw a white van stopped just beside him, Liam was a cautious person and he had a good instinct for danger ever since he was young.

The moment he saw the white van, he immediately felt nervous, he followed his instincts and immediately ran away at a very fast speed, even if he is mistaken, it was much better to be safe than sorry.

He ran as fast as he could while glancing behind him, and he saw the white van moved once again and chased after him, "What the F*ck!?" Liam exclaimed and sped up, he noticed that the white van started accelerating so he stopped in his tracks and immediately turned around and ran the other way.

"Get juked b*tch!" Liam gave the white van a middle finger and continued running away, he noticed the white van stopped and reversed its speed, Liam was an athletic guy despite being always locked in his home every day, he glanced at the other street and saw the stoplight were red.

He immediately ran towards the other street leaving the white van chasing after him, Liam ran as fast as he could and when he turned around, he saw the van opened its doors and men in black suits rushed out from it and chased after him.

"Goddamn!" Liam cursed loudly as he saw that these people are also bulky, but he was confident with his speed, he managed to outrun many dogs when he was young, "I'm just a few streets away!"

Liam gritted his teeth, his only safe haven right now was the Anonymous company, as for the people around, they were just watching like it was some kind of movie, this made Liam lose fate to these people.

But just as Liam was about to continue running away, he glanced behind him and saw these men in black suit pulling out something from inside their suits, and then he saw it, they pulled out pistols, "Mama!" Liam cried out as he ran as fast as he could.

His heart started beating fast as he saw that the men in black suits pointed their guns towards him, Liam's adrenaline peaked at that moment and as if his world slowed down and the only thing he could see were the guns pointed at him.

*Bang! *Bang! *Bang!

They fired their pistols and Liam didn't see the bullets flying towards him but a feeling of dread has already overcome his emotions, 'I don't want to die! I still want to play games!' Liam closed his eyes as he screamed those thoughts inside his head.

*Swooosh! Boom!

*Dang! *Dang! *Dang!

Liam was surprised when he felt the ground suddenly shook, and then sparks flew everywhere, Liam opened his eyes and looked at the tall figure standing in front of him, Liam wasn't able to see it clearly due to the sun blinding him but he could see that this person was wearing some kind of armor.

"Are you okay kid?" a robotic voice came from the figure, but it was a very soothing voice.

Liam looked at the figure and nodded, "Yes, thank you for saving me"

"No worries hide behind me first," the figure said as it turned towards the men in black, "I am from Anonymous, I will let you go if you go back now, or if you insist on chasing our players, you will be terminated"

The figure said, his last sentence even sounded really deep and scary, the men in black looked at each other and nodded, "Retreat" the leader of the men yelled and immediately the men in black immediately retreated.

Liam sighed in relief as he saw that they stopped chasing after him, "Thank you Ummm..." Liam looked at the figure with admiration, and he also finally saw the appearance of the figure, wearing something like white-colored armor, or a mecha, he was also wearing a helmet that covered his entire face.

"Just call me Soldier, Let's go, I will escort you towards the Headquarters"

"Thank you, Soldier, may I know why they wanted to shoot me?" Liam asked he was still trembling from what happened.

"let's just say They came from greedy people"

Liam was successfully escorted to the Anonymous headquarters where he also saw people who were also escorted by the 'Soldiers' it seemed like Liam was not the only one who experienced what happened.

[Players., please proceed to the Hall room where a meeting will happen]

Liam heard the announcement.

Machina was looking around at the spaceship he created along with 2 'Spartans' following him, Machina made little adjustments with the appearance of the Spartans and just referenced it after Master Chief from Halo.

"What is the situation? Hela?" Machina asked

"Yes, Lord Machina, thank you for the 'Soldiers'you have provided to us, we were able to prevent the players from being abducted" Hela who was one of the 'Spartans' following Machina spoke.

"That is great, how long for the game to launch? Zum?" Machina asked as he looked around, and nods satisfied with the things he created.

"Lord Machina, We can launch anytime now" Zum spoke.

"Great, lets launch it now"
