Luke

"Hands down!" I heard Sean yell. His comrades hiding behind their respective mobiles, while they hold their guns out.

This isn't going to work.

"Max." I heard Nico whisper behind me.

"Remember the first training we had?" She whispered.

I gave her a subtle thumbs up before moving from my hiding spot.

It's been 15 minutes since we located the area of captivity, and there isn't any progress at all. Sean was trying his best to urge the hostage taker to place his hand down and release his gun, I understand his perseverance but it won't work.

I tried telling him to distract the guy, but he wouldn't budge. Sean kept on insisting he had this under control but the terrified look on the hostage's face says otherwise.

"Sean, why do-"

"I know what I'm doing Pete. Just give me time, I'll convince him otherwise." Sean sighed in frustration.

"This won't work." I sighed, looking back at Nico who nodded.

"Luke, I need you on the building by the left. Nico, on the right." I heard Ally's voice by the earpiece I was wearing. Great, another angle of perspective.

To be honest, I like it when the three of us work together. We have our own forte's, we have different stands. Yet when together, it was as if we have the same minds.

"Copy." I heard Nico's voice, I looked back at my best friend who was smirking before making my way towards my designated position.

"Luke, by your position. You can easily access the criminal's dominant hand. Nico, I need you to be as obvious as possible."

"Okay." I answered.

This isn't the first time we handled such crime. Back in Miami, we came accross a gang of hostage takers. It wasn't an easy task, but with Nico crawling towards the group of hostage and pretending, the plan was effective.

"Nico, Please be careful. No scratches." Ally's concerned voice rang again.

"I will try." Nico answered chuckling.

"Stay where you are or I'll shoot!" The taker said, yelling at Nico who did what she was told.

"Look, I'm just passing by." Nico lied.

"Luke, get ready alright?" I nodded in response, though Ally can't see me.

"Look man, just release my girl." Sean pleaded nervously.

You might be asking, how did we come to this situation?

"Alright, have a nice lunch you two." I heard Pete's voice as I passed by their table.

"Thanks!" Sean smiled, he turned around and our eyes met. Instantly, he nodded his head as a greeting and I did the same. I was walking back to my office when I heard my name being called.

"Detective Max!" I turned around to see Camille, she was smiling and waving at me. I chuckled before returning the gesture, simply raising a hand up and waving subtly. I could see Sean's glaring eyes at me but I didn't mind.

According to Nico, it wasn't so hidden that Camille used to fancy me before she became Sean's. I think that's pure made-up since this woman already had eyes for Sean, since he was making a fool of himself.

As they went out the door, I could hear Sean's unpleased tone mixed with Camille's unamused ones. The duo rarely argues, since Camille isn't much of a talker and she spends her time building Sean's confidence. Sean on the other hand is the jealous type, but I do understand him. Camille is an eye catcher, and he happened to get her.

"Once again, you caused a scene." I heard Nico's teasing voice.

"I certainly didn't." I replied to her before shaking my head.

With that being said, the two of us walked towards the office. A good 15 minutes passed and we were disturbed by Pete's violent knocking and horrified face.

"Captain Sean needs help, Camille's been taken as hostage."

And thats how it came to be. I turns out that these hostage taker is the son of the daycare kid's uncle. Yes, the molester.

"You had one job miss! One job!" He yelled at Camille. The brown eyed woman flinched at the sudden aggression.

"My father did not deserve to be in jail!" He yelled.

"That kid did not deserve to be molested!" Camille exclaimed. I saw the taker close his eyes and clenched his jaw before aiming the gun on Camille's temple.

Oh boy, this is bad.

"Dude, chill." I heard Nico chuckle, I looked at my bestfriend and she was glancing at me.

"Fucking stay out of this!" He yelled at Nico, this time aiming at her.

"Hey, I'm just giving my opinion." Nico said, raising her hand up. It seems that Camille followed Nico's gaze and met my eyes. The terror on her eyes says everything. I looked at Sean who seemed to he terrified as well.

"Breathe." I mouthed out to her, and thankfully she took a deep breath.

"Milli, just wait." Sean muttered looking at Camille, who turned to him and nodded. Thankfully, her boyfriend did not see me or else it would cause another commotion.

"You think you're funny?" He yelled at Nico.

"Good job Nico, get ready Luke." I heard Ally, I mentally face palmed myself for forgetting she was there.

"Well I try to be." Nico joked, I saw the guy just inches away from pulling the trigger and I know I have to jump in.

"Shut u-"

"Detective Nico!" "Max!" "Camille!"

I saw Nico's frightened face, the guy smirking and suddenly pointing at me, I heard gunshots and then everything went blurry.

Camille

I'm alive. I'm effin alive!

"You're okay." I heard Nico's warm voice as she held me tightly. It all happened so fast.

One second, Max was telling me to breathe, Nico was nearly shot and now here I am held by her. Wait...am I dead instead?!

"Let me go!" I heard a shout, and I know I'm still alive.

"Shut the fuck up!" I heard a manly voice, and I instantly know it was Sean.

"You wanna side with your father so bad? Now go to hell with him." Sean growled, this side of him made me want to hug him and calm him down.

"Are you okay?" I heard a soft husky voice, Max. I know it's Max.

"I'm fine." Nico replied, I realized I was still closing my eyes. I opened them to see a pair of beautiful green eyes, looking at me. Alright, maybe I'm in heaven.

"Hi Cami, you alright?" Max smiled. I know I shouldn't be feeling like this, but his smile calmed me down.

"I'm fine." I whispered.

"I'm sorry I didn't come sooner." He apologized before looking at my temple. Max glanced at Nico before standing up straight, I didn't even realize he was crouching down.

It all happened fast, As the guy was pulling the trigger. Max sprinted and tackled him, pushing me towards Nico. If it wasn't for them, I probably would've been stucked there longer than expected.

I looked at Sean and noticed he was now talking to Max. He seemed to be...upset? I love him and all, but I have to thank Max and Nico for practically putting their life on the line and saving me. If I were to rely on Sean, it would've ended differently. I know he's the top of the deparment, but I also know that he's weak against situations like these.

"Come on, let's get you back to the office." Nico smiled before gently rubbing my hair.

"I got this." I heard my boyfriends voice. Nico instantly nodded before letting go of me, and walking towards Max.

"Are you okay Milli?" Sean asked, I looked at him and smiled.

"I am, thank you." Sean gave me an apologetic look. He didn't have to say sorry, I already forgave him for making a big deal about Max.

It was very obvious that he was jealous of Max, I admit that what I did earlier was not fine. In my defense, I was just greeting the guy, and nothing else.

"No, thank Max. He sacrificed himself for you." Sean whispered.

"It doesn't matter. You were the one making sure that prick doesn't kill me." I answered him.

"Still doesn't count, I c-" The talk was too much, and I know I can't take another more of his doubts.

"Sean, you don't have to compete with Max at all. You don't have to compete with anyone alright? I like you as you are, I don't care about them. You're my boyfriend, alright?" Sean gave me a small smile before nodding and kissing my forehead.

"That's better."
