3 III

Luke's POV

"God, this department is indeed in need of help." Ally groaned by her desk as we continued to work on for hours. It was already 8 pm, and we're still working our asses off.

"Do you happen to find any connections with the guys Kay killed?" I asked Nichole.

"Nothing, aside from the fact that they are business men." The woman replied to me. That factor alone leads us onto something, but we need more.

"Max, you've encountered Kay number of times. What does she look like?" Ally asked, of course she would. After all, Kay happened to only show herself to me.

The woman is really interesting, it's funny how she takes huge risks for something she can easily get beaten up in. Kay may be a petite woman, but hell! She can punch like a muscular man.

"She has blue eyes, a long hair, and is a brunette." I responded as I tried my best to imagine her face.

Kay wore an unusual mask, that covers almost 90 percent of her face. The brunette always had her signature hoodie on.

"Come on, we need more details." Nichole teased as she wiggled her eyebrows at me.

"I'd give you details but hell, she has 90 percent of her face covered." I groaned.

"She left you a hickey but couldn't leave you a proper image of her face." Nichole chuckled.

"I swear she's insane. We need to find her asap before she makes another move." I responded before biting my lip.

"You've been biting your lip for a while now." Ally raised her eyebrow.

"I'm stressed Als, We've been here for 4 months and the progress still lacks!" It was true, we usually finish tasks within a span of a month. I know for a fact that a part of me is biting my lip to remind myself of her, I know it's weird.

"Detectives! Someone got through the Masked woman's phone. She'll be at Santa Monica!" Sean said as he barged in the door.

Ah, I remember. Kay did accidentally leave her phone when she escaped last night. We wasted no time in gathering our things and running to the car.

"Two consecutive appearances? She's onto something." Nichole mumbled as we got inside my car.

"She's going to strike anytime soon. It's the warning." I spoke. It was a same pattern Kay used, Consecutive appearances then she strikes murder.

"Her conversation said to meet along the sidewalk of the pier." Ally said.

"That's weird." I thought to myself.

"This could be a trap Ally, she never pulls that stunt." Nichole gave me a look.

"We don't know how her mind works Max, she could be." My best friend said. There's something inside of me that knew it was probably fake.

"Let's go!" Sean exclaimed as we got out the car, he was already trying to evacuate the citizens away from the pier.

"You idiot! She could run away!" another officer, Brad exclaimed at him.

"This is the place." Nichole said as she stepped into a random sidewalk.

"This is a set up." I told her.

"We're not sure. We could now be one step ahead of her." Nichole said as she looked around the site, I followed her lead but noticed something different by the building right across the pier.

"Hold on." I said as I hurried away from them.

"Detective!" Sean exclaimed as I ran past him, when an explosion emerged, and we were covered in white stuff.

"The fuck?!" Nichole exclaimed as she ran her fingers through her hair.

"Whipped cream?" Ally asked as she tasted the foamy thing in her mouth.

"I told you this was a set up!" I hissed at Nichole, lucky for me, I happened to run past a tree when shit exploded.

"Secure the place. I need to investigate something." I said as I ran away. I'm certain I saw someone walk into the dark alley in between the building, I know her figure.

"You're very smart." I heard her chuckle as I reached the alley she went through.

"Show yourself." I found myself smirking as she walked out of the darker place of the alley.

"Good evening." She smirked at me.

"You lost the deal, now come with me." I demanded as she shook her head and backed away, holding a rope.

"Oh honey, I don't play by the rules." Was all she said before she cuts the rope as she was lunged upwards, landing on the roof.

"Fuck!" I groaned as I started running up the emergency exit of building. She smirked at me and teased me by sitting on the edge of the building's roof, watching me.

"This woman is something else." I thought to myself as I continued to climb up.

"You're never going to give up, are you?" She chuckled as she continued to watch me with her blue eyes.

"You killed people, of course I'm not." I growled as I tried to remember the faces of the families her victims left.

"I guess we're going at this for a while." She smirked before finally standing up when I reached the top.

"Here." She chuckled as she rolled a bottle of water over.

"No thanks." I murmured as I continued panting.

"You must taste sweet tonight." She teased as she looked at me, despite the tree I still had some area that had whipped cream.

"What the fuck is your trip now?" I growled as I look at her.

"Nothing, I just wanted to have fun." She smirked behind her mask, I fucking hate how confident she is.

"You like games, don't you?" I said as I stood up properly, I need to outsmart this woman.

"It depends on the game." She replied, walking towards the edge of the building.

"Hell no, you're not getting away this time." I growled before charging at her.

"Jeez Max." She chuckled as I ran past her, nearly falling down.

"Your temper gets the best of you." She smirked before her thumb crept up to the corner of my lips, wiping it as I yanked by arm away from her, Backing up.

"I'm sorry for that." She shook her head before lifting her mask from below and licking her thumb.

"I was right, you did taste sweet." She sheepishly grinned behind her mesh mask. This woman is indeed something else.

"As for last night, I heard rumors that you only kiss girls you find worth your attention." Kay smirked at me.

"Since you've been chasing me for months now, I myself decided I'm worth that." She winked, where did this confidence come from.

"You're fucking full of yourself." I growled as I looked at her.

"Maybe, But it's alright. Did you like the gift I left you?" She smirked before leaning back on the wall, eyeing my shirt.

"Boom." She giggled as another explosion sounded from the sidewalk. This time, powered paint colored the sky. As she looked at the sky, I took the time to charge her.

"Let me go!" She growled as I swiftly spun her around and pinned her to the wall, her hands behind her back.

"You've caused a lot of trouble Kay." I smirked as I pinned her.

"God, you like it rough huh?" She chuckled.

"Shut up!" I growled as I pressed her mask harder to the wall. To my surprise, she remained silent indeed. I fiddled with my handcuffs, finally happy.

"You're co-fuck!" I groaned as she stepped on my foot and switched the positions. Just like that, I was pinned and hand cuffed.

"You know, you're good looking. It's a shame I have to meet you like this." She giggled as she raised my now handcuffed hands above my head, stepping on my foot to stop me from possible attacks. Dang this woman is smart as fuck.

"I'll fill you in with a little secret." She smirked at me before leaning in to my ear.

"I just wanted to see you today." She giggled, I felt myself feel hot at the sensation. What the hell does she want from me?

"You must admit, I stole a precious kiss last night. I won the wager." She smirked.

"But since you thought it wasn't precious, I need to redo it." She grinned.

"Honey, at least talk to me." She pouted.

"You're so dead." I growled, looking intensely at her blue eyes. She shook her head and gently looked up at the sky, smiling.

"Try being sweeter." She responded. I swear on my own grave, I will catch this murderer.

"I'll kill you." I growled as she chuckled before lifting up her mask when the clouds covered the moon. I tried my best to catch a glimpse of her other facial features, but damn it was too dark.

"You already did." She giggled before landing a kiss on my lips, letting my hand go. To my surprise, I liked the feeling of her lips against mine. I felt her smile once I decided to reciprocate the gesture, closing my eyes. She quickly pulled away from me when the moon decided to make an appearance, covering my eyes with her free hand.

"Good night Honey." She giggled before unlocking the handcuffs and moving away from me. I didn't know what was up with me, but I stood there dumbly.

"Call me a thief." She winked, I saw her bit her lip and wave at me before jumping off the building. I must admit she was right, I should call her a thief indeed. She did stole something precious from me.

She fucking stole my heart and I'm fucking screwed.
