3 Mabel and Sable

January 2nd 2083, 6:12am

Location: Splat-topia, Planet Animal Crossing

I arrived at Splat-topia by first light I breathed the beautiful Splat-topian fresh air "sigh Splat-topia my home island, I think the buildings are still here if they are either rundowned or still in perfect condition" I asked myself, so I started to walk around the island to check Nook's Cranny, Able Sisters, Plaza, Museum and my home unfortunately all of the houses on Splat-topia have been taken down so my island was back to square one, but that aside I arrived at the Museum, I was amazed that the Museum was still in perfect condition from the outside "the museum, the place I gave Blathers all of my bugs and fish I caught and also gave him fossils for the museum. But it's likely the museum will be empty, well there's one way to find out" I asked myself so I walked inside the museum. When I got inside it was a different story, the lights within the main room above the ceiling… two ceiling lights lost power but one ceiling light was flickering I looked at the flickering light. "Wow, the inside part of the museum is completely a different story, I need to piece together what happened to this museum" I said.

Suddenly, I heard Sable's voice calling my name "Arnold, are you there!" Sable shouted. "Looks like I better do that later, I'm coming Sable" I replied as I turned around and left the Museum. When I arrived outside, I saw Sable leaning against a tree. "There you are, Arnold. Where were you?" Sable asked. "Sorry, Sable. I was about to investigate what happened to the Plaza, Nook's Cranny shop, Able Sisters Shop, Museum and my home" I said as I walked towards her. "Oh, okay. We should do that first. Come on let's investigate the Museum together" said Sable, I smiled "now we're talking" I said. So Sable and I headed inside the Museum.

Once inside Sable was surprised. "My word, the museum has fallen to despair" she explained. "I know, Sable. I was surprised that the museum had fallen to despair as well. Also, you might see nothing now, but watch… watch the room around us" I said. "Okay, Arnold" Sable replied as she looked at the stairs of the main room of the museum. I closed my eyes and said "All shall be revealed, Eyes of the Hidden Past". Then I opened my eyes as Sable looked at my golden pupiled eyes. "Eyes of the Hidden Past... This must be Arnold's hidden power, he can use his eyes to see past events after he left Splat-topia in 2060. Arnold's power is very useful; it might tell us what happened until year 2083" Sable asked herself.

Suddenly Sable saw Blathers as a hologram moving the fossils outside "Arnold, we are seeing Blathers moving the fossils out of the museum do you know when that happened?" Sable asked. "I looked at the hologram Blathers and there was a date that appeared as a tag. "This happened on Nov 12th 2078 Sable" I answered. "I see... let's check the fish exhibit, there might be some information about what else happened to the museum," said Sable. "That's a good idea, Sable." I said as Sable and I turned right and headed inside the fish exhibit. When Sable and I arrived in the fish exhibit I checked the layout of the exhibit "okay the fish exhibit has two areas one is this room holding river and pond fish while the other room holds all the ocean fish" I explained to Sable "Okay, Arnold but is there a way to tackle this exhibit?" Sable asked. "That's a good question. Sable, I want you to check the tanks in this room while I check the tanks in the other room. I know I'm leaving you this room alone, are you all good to check the tanks?" I questioned her. "I'll try my best… to check the tanks in this room." said Sable. I hugged her for a brief moment. "Don't worry, Sable. We are going to be quick, okay" I said. "Okay, Arnold" Sable replied. Sable and I broke the hug and I walked off to the other room leaving Sable alone in the first room to check the tanks.

Sable went tank to tank, to the check for any creatures "all of the fishes in these tanks are gone" said Sable. Sable turned around to see me walking towards her "any fish in those tanks Sable?" I asked her "oh Arnold, I checked no all the fish are gone. Same results in the other room?" Sable asked "yes Sable all the fish in the other room are gone as well I use my Eyes of the Hidden Past to see what happened here before the museum has fallen to despair. Sable saw a wall mounted switch Sable flick the switch but nothing happened "tangled strings! The power in this exhibit has been fried" said Sable. I was using the Eye of the Hidden Past ability and saw hologram Blathers and hologram Isabelle talking to each other "Blathers are done moving the bugs into the plane?" Isabelle asked Blathers. "Yes, Isabelle. They are in the plane. Next will be the fish and then the fossils." said Blathers as I looked at a hologram of Isabelle looking at the koi with a sad face. "Isabelle, what's wrong and what's the glum face" Blathers asked Isabelle "I'm starting to think that kicking Arnold out of the island was a bad idea" Isabelle questioned herself

"Don't worry Isabelle besides we don't want to deal with that annoying human right?" Blathers explained, I looked at the date of the event "this happened on Oct 23rd 2074" I said "anything Arnold?" Sable asked "the event I'm seeing just happened on Oct 23rd 2074, Isabelle and Blathers were talking to each other about the bugs that Blathers put in the plane and he started to move the fish next, also Isabelle was sad because… she thought that kicking me out of the island was a fatal mistake" I said. Sable was surprised "wait Isabelle started to feel guilty after you were kicked out of the island wow that's a hard pill to swallow for Isabelle" said Sable "I agree with you Sable" I replied, Sable smiled

Suddenly Sable and I heard a voice that I actually recognise "sis where are you" she shouted "that's Mabel, she must be outside let's do this next time come on Sable" I said "I agree with you Arnold let's hold the investigation for now" I put my investigation on hold and Sable and I left the museum and walked outside. Once outside Sable and I saw Mabel sitting under an apple tree "where are you sis I want you to come home" said Mabel, I looked at Sable "Mabes is worried sick about you Sable" I said "I know Arnold but I'll handle this, you continue doing your errands" said Sable "okay Sable so I left the museum and head off to my home, Sable walked towards Mabel and saw right next to her "are you worried about me sis" Sable asked. Mabel was in shock and said "who… who said that!?" Mabel turned around to see Sable right next to her, smiling "hey sis," said Sable.

Mabes was in tears and hugged Sable "Sable… sniff you're okay, I was worried sick about you… when did you get back?" Mabel asked "I got back just last year, sorry if I worried you sis. I was having a break. Did you read my note?" said Sable "I did, but it was hard for the Able Sisters Shop to stay afloat" said Mabes. Suddenly Mabel and Sable began to hear an ocarina playing "Sable who's playing the ocarina… is it Muzu!?" Mabel asked "nope that can't be Muzu playing the ocarina it's someone else, I'll show you come on sis" said Sable as Mabel and Sable got up and walked towards my home. When they arrived near my home Sable covered Mabel's eyes "Mabel you might know him and it's not Muzu" said Sable as she uncovered Mabel's eyes. Mabes was surprised to see me playing the ocarina then I stopped "man I still like Muzu playing my ocarina, now I'm playing my own ocarina just like my adopted son did back in 2060 sigh maybe, I have my own Acoustic Guitar at my home, playing an musical instrument alone is good but singing might better to lift my spirits up" I said so I put my ocarina named Emotions in my pouch and head back inside to grabbed my Acoustic Guitar named 'Wooden Wonder' Mabel and Sable saw me sitting down holding my Acoustic Guitar named Wooden Wonder and started to sing Hearing Voices sung by 'Once Monsters'

Sable looked at me with a smile as tears built up while Mabel was amazed that they heard my swinging for the first time "wow Arnold has good vocals" said Sable "Arnold!? Wait I heard that named before" Mabel asked

Once I was done singing I looked at Mabel and Sable "hey Mabes, hey Sabes were you looking for me?" I asked "wait Sable when I heard him play the ocarina I thought that was Muzu" Mabel asked Sable "Mabes, are you talking about my adopted son Muzu?" I asked her. Mabel and Sable were baffled "Wait, Muzu is your son!?" said Mabel with shock "yes Mabes Muzu is my son. Anyway why are you looking for me anyway!? I asked them "Just seeing if you're okay, Arnold" said Sable. "Okay, Sable" I replied. I grabbed two necklaces showing a heart located at the middle of the necklace, inside the heart was a photo of the Able Sisters (Label, Mabel, Sable) as kids and their parents. "I made these just for you before I left with Muzu" I said both necklaces were out of crystallized Zircon while the heart protecting the picture of the Able Sister's family was made out of Diamond "when I checked the Able Sisters shop back on Jan 17th 2056, I looked at the pictures and only shows you Mabel, Sable and Label… so on June 1st 2074 I went through the photos that I have back at Sanctuary Earth, my home and found something that you don't have" I said.

I got up and walked towards Mabel and Sable and stopped around a metre away from them. "If I remember correctly… you haven't seen these photos, right?" I asked. "Yeah, we didn't look at the photos because we thought they weren't important," said Sable. "That's what you thought but I found a picture of you and your family" I said as I gave it to them. Sable and Mabel looked and they were to see their old family picture in the heart. "Arnold, how sweet of you. Where did you find this picture!?" Sable asked. "I found that picture inside my drawer connected to my computer table of memorabilia, I used the computer table of memorabilia to play past games, look at the gaming merchandise mostly plushies and amiibos and of course photos of the past. That old picture was in that drawer for a few years and I decided to use it as part of your gift. I know it's tough for you to remember your parents due to their passing, so I decided to make these just for you two so you can remember your parents. I know it's isn't much but I hope you like it" I said Sable and Mabel put on their necklace and looked at the hearted picture of them, Label and their parents.

"Wait... You're Arnold, right?" Mabel asked. "Yes, Mabel. I am" I replied. "But how do I know it's you?" asked Mabel. I closed my eyes and moved my hand right in front of my face and morphed into my human face and opened my eyes. "I came to this place as a human." I said as I closed my eyes again, put my hand right in front of my face and morphed back to my inkling face, opened my eyes. "Now I'm an inkling from Splatoon but my attire is very different from the ones back at Planet Splatoon" I said. Mabes was shocked "So, you're the one who came to this island as a human, no wonder I didn't recognise you at first. but now… I do. Why did you come back?" Mabel asked. "When I left Splat-topia in around 2060, I felt my bonds with the Animal Crossing World just vanished. I kept going on with my normal life back at Sanctuary Earth and during my time at my home planet. I was thinking about the Animal Crossing World so many times. I even had a thought about Animal Crossing World during Splatful Start. Now I here to heal my emotional scars and retie my bonds with everyone" I said

Sable and Mabel hugged me "so that's why you came here so you can catch up with everyone, did you do bad things while on the island last time?" Mabel asked "no Mabel I didn't do anything to my friends, I was a nice person until I was kicked out the island" I said Mabel was a bit guilty "So, Isabelle was wrong. Arnold didn't do anything mean to us and his friends at all. He was a nice guy and Isabelle didn't know it at all" said Mabel as Sable, herself and I broke the hug. I looked at Mabel feeling guilty. "Arnold, I… I owe you an apology. I thought you are mean to everyone but… in reality Isabelle just lied to us… lied to everyone about you" said Mabel with tears building in her eyes. I put my inkling hand on Mabel's shoulder and said "It's okay Mabel, I'm not mad at you. I'm a bit enraged that Isabelle lied to everyone around the island but why… Isabelle and I were great friends but I don't know why Isabelle would just turn her back on me in first place. She's a nice villager to talk to, she's Tom Nook's assistant. Also she can change the island's tune, the island flag and give me any complaints about the island residents also I wasn't mean to her as well. I'll never know, in the end of that event… I'm still friends with everyone and you know that Mabel" I said to her I looked at Mabel's tears hitting the ground

"Arnold… I don't know what to say, sniff thanks. I'll remember that, I'm… sniff to this day you still have that friendly personality sniff also do you always comfort everyone?" Mabel sobbed. "I always do, I comfort people if either they feel depressed or alone" I answered Mabel still in tears looked at me and Sable. "Sis, Arnold is it fine. You can comfort me" said Mabel, still in tears. "Sure thing, Mabel" I said with a smile "I'll go get some water" said Sable as she ran off to the Able Sisters shop while Mabel and I sat on the log "are okay Mabel" I asked her "no Arnold I'm not" Mabel sobbed "don't cry Mabel… it's not your fault, it's Isabelle at fault not you Mabel" I said to her. Mabel looked at my hand touching her spikes. "Arnold, what are you doing?" Mabel asked, wiping off a tear. "Oh, sorry Mabel I was feeling your spikes that's all" I said with an embarrassed tone "oh it's okay Arnold, but you always do that to your friends as well and everyone doesn't mind including myself and the staff" said Mabel. I smiled and I slowly ran my inkling hand on Mabel's spikes. I looked at Sable sitting next to Mabel holding a bottle of water "so Arnold, how's your family going?" Sable asked as she gave Mabel the bottle of water "my family is doing well, are you still thinking about my adopted son Muzu?" I asked Sable "yes Arnold, he's a kind yet shy octoling I'm just thinking about him but he's busy right?" said Sable

Suddenly my phone began to vibrate so I grabbed my phone out of my pouch and looked at it "who's calling you?" Mabel asked "sorry to disturb you Mabel and Sable just, give me a moment" so I started call "hello, oh Muzu what is it" Sable and Mabel looked at me in a middle of a call "Muzu did you remind your siblings about me doing some unfinished, okay… Muzu why… Why are you crying?" Mabel and Sable were shocked to hear my call between me and Muzu. "Wait, you have unfinished business at Splat-topia!? No wonder you're crying, don't cry Muzu I'll be coming to get you okay, good, I will Muzu bye" after the call I turned around to face Sable and Mabel "Arnold who's that?" Sable asked "that was Muzu, my adopted son he's crying because he has some unfinished business at Splat-topia as well also he's worried about you Sable" I explained Sable was surprised "that's right I was friends with your adopted son back around early 2055" said Sable "I know, I'll be getting him just wait moment okay" I said then I face the horizon and rayshift open a portal back home.

By 8:12am Mabel and Sable saw the rayshift portal and saw myself and Muzu, my adopted son as the portal disappeared behind me Muzu looked at me and apologized to me "sorry I was homesick dad, it's just that I have some unfinished business as well and I didn't know it until that call" said Muzu "it's okay Muzu, someone you didn't have the guts to ask me about it but don't worry if you're planning to head off with me, just let me know okay" I said "I will dad" said Muzu, Mabel and Sable looked at my adopted son. "Dad is Mabel and Sable looking at me?" Muzu asked "what you think?" I said to him Muzu turned around and looked at Sable and Mabel "Muzu!?" said Mabel and Sable with a surprised tone, Muzu didn't talk for 10secs then Muzu fainted on my arms I was baffled "Arnold what happened to Muzu!?" said Sable with worry. Muzu slowly wakes up "sorry if I worried you guys, when I look at a friend I had long ago I just faint okay… anyway yawns I'm sleepy dad" said Muzu "okay Muzu. Mabes, Sabes we talk about what happened to Splat-topia okay. Family matters first okay" I said I got up and began to walk away from Mabel and Sable but as I was about to leave them, suddenly Mabel and Sable placed their hands on my back and said "we… we hate to see you dealing with your problems alone, is it fine we can help you from time to time?" Mabel asked me I smiled "yes Mabel and Sable and thank you" I said "you're welcome Arnold" said Sable.

Somewhere in an another deserted island, Isabelle was busy in her own Plaza busy with her paperwork then looked at her special picture frame she got for her birthday showing her, all of the villagers in Splat-topia, the staff, myself and my adopted son "was it good idea kicking Arnold out of his island?" she asked herself with guilt weighing on her.
