Shannen rushed towards her father's office and ignored the maids she passed by. She ignored the etiquette of a lady and ran in the hallways while holding the hem of her skirt. Without knocking on the door, Shannen pushed the door open and saw her father staring at the same newspaper she was reading before rushing in this office to talk with the viscount.

"Father, i-is it really true?" Shannen asked straight to the point. "The rumors—"

"Shannen." The viscount called her name.

"...What is it, father?"

"I am sorry."

Silence enveloped the whole office after that. Because of her father's words, the tears Shannen was trying to stopped spilled down from her eyes. The continuous drop of tears falls down to her cheeks up to her chin, drenching her front dress. The muscles of her cheeks trembled like a small child. Shannen turns her head to looked towards the window as if the sunlight peaking through it can soothe her aching heart.
