6. Mate? Enemy?

On the final stroke of midnight marking the year a new one, the moon was at it's highest peak. Shinning brighter than it has ever had in its years on only on the beginning of a new year at midnight.

Howl's sounded like trumpets and their wrists started glowing. The names of their mate started to write out on their wrist in swirls of black ink.

In a trance Asonya didn't know that she was howling to the wind, calling out to her mate. The first step to create the bond. When the light of the moon dulls the sound of the howls dies with it.

She could feel the smallest of thread threading its way and connecting to something. Now she is linked with whoever the moon goddess has chosen to be her mate.

There was no pain not even an itch, just the letters of the name of one's mate and enemy. Slowly they all started to lift their hands looking at the names on their wrist, mostly that of the mate.

Asonya did the opposite when the euphoria faded. On her left wrist wrote the name of her enemy. Thaddeus. No last name just Thaddeus.

That's the disadvantage of this whole thing. You only get the first name of your mate or enemy. Anyone could name Thaddeus, you never know who it'll be.

Sighing, unlike the others, she was the last to look at her right wrist. Reluctantly she turns over her hand slowly, you would think that she's going to find a monstrous drawing inked into her wrist. On her right wrist was the name of her mate written in black cursive letters.

THADDEUS. Written in bold letters. Her brows pinched together blinking once blinking twice in utter confusion. She thought she might have had the other name stuck in her head and that's the reason why she is seeing double. So she did a double-take still the names were the same. Shaking her head thinking she must be crazy or the moon goddess made a mistake. The moon goddess never makes mistake then how could this be. Surely the moon goddess is mistaken if she has made the same person her mate and enemy.

It can't be so. Maybe it's two different people that have the same name. But there is no case in history that the mate and enemy have the same name but different people. None. Asonya can be the first in history but she doubts it. And there's no way that one person can be both her mate and enemy.

Deep in thought and distracted by her confusion she didn't realize that people were coming down from their high so when Tyeeka touched her with excitement and anticipation in her eyes she jumped. Tyeeka frowned, when did her friend become so startled all of a sudden, she was always on alert and mindful of her surrounding. But that didn't last for long she brushed it off before asking excitedly.

"Asonya that was great wasn't it? I got to find out the name of my mate. You want to know?" Asonya still distracted she hummed her answer. Tyeeka didn't find this strange because she knew Asonya wasn't an optimistic person.

"Draca, his name sounds so," she sighs dreamily. "From his name alone I can tell that he's handsome and sexy. I bet..." Tyeeka was rambling about her mate that she didn't see the distant look in her friend's eyes or the name written on her wrist and the fact that they are the same. Asonya didn't even notice that the name that she just said is no other than that male wolf she has encouraged that her mate will love him.

What now? Asonya thought lost. Who will she track down first? Her mate? Or her enemy? What if when she finds either he is one and the same. What will she do then?

"What name did you get?" When Asonya didn't respond immediately Tyeeka poked her with a finger. "And you better tell, I told you mine so it's only fair."

"It's Thaddeus."

"Ooo so medieval, but still sexy, you think he's in our pack or would you have to journey across the back boundaries to find him, that would be so romantic," Tyeeka started to ramble again, no clue that Asonya was going through a dilemma.

Tyeeka was in the middle of her rambling when she stopped mid-sentence when she caught the smell of summer wood. Her wolf was yipping and going crazy wanting to follow the scent.

The scent was getting closer making it harder to control herself and her wolf but she restrained herself from tracking him down and attacking the poor man.

They haven't even met yet and the images that her wolf is sending in her might is inappropriate for mates meeting for the first time and taking that step even though it's not unheard of. She scolds her wolf not wanting to go there just yet. She wanted to know the man that is her mate first before taking the bed-the next foot forward- she feels the need to build a relationship first.

That is not unheard of either in the werewolf world. It's going to be hard to resist that pull but her wolf obeyed whimpering in the corner of her mind. Tyeeka didn't want to console, consoling her would only spoil her.

She kept taking deep breath of the scent, inhaling and slowly exhaling like the scent is a cooling solution or an addictive drug she can't get enough of. Unconsciously she took a step closer to the smell to smack her nose into a wall but it wasn't any type of wall.

It was a wall made of pure muscles that rippled under her nose. The wall let out a low growl his arms coming around her body and pulling her in. "Mine," His voice was rough as he claimed what belongs to him.

Tyeeka was pushed up on his chest awkwardly but she didn't mine that addictive scent she was sniffing and inhaling like a drug maniac was coming from him. In the back of her mind she heard the work 'mate' and she knew this wall of muscles with the addictive scent was her to sniff for eternity.

Asonya on the other hand was lost and left in confusion a state that doesn't leave her. Constantly putting her in a daze as she tries to figure this out. Maybe she can stop herself from dreaming. If she cried out to the moon goddess with her questions would she be able to answer her or would she answer her at all.

If her creation had this type of access to her no one would suffer, packs wouldn't fight each other and other trail matters that plagues her creation. She doubt this ink written into her skin could be removed or taken back. She was stuck with such a heavy burden.

Thaddeus.
