Chapter one

The family

"But I don't wanna go!"she kept moaning over and over she didn't like the beach some kind of weird phobia ,I think, but mother wont cave in she screamed back "you will go, and that is that!" If she made up her mind there's no way you could change it .Winona started crying and stormed out of the room ,then she went to the basement ,I gave my mom a look and ran behind her. she was with bun ,"bunn with 2 ns!"she used to say when she first learned the alphabet,bunn is a little bunny I gave her on her sixth birthday ,she loved it so much.I try to open the basement door but it's locked so I say "thanahan" that was our secret code, I heard the lock unlatch and as I walked in I heard some muffled voice she is probably talking with bunn ,I thought she was sitting in a corner full with boxes ,"good hiding spot" ,I said she laughed a little then started crying again I soothed her hair and sang her an old song ,and told her that "it's OK I will be with you", "I know but what if the waves draw me away and I'd be lost forever" she said in a shaky voice "you don't have to go in the water you know you could just sit with me and read some books"she was OK with that. I went upstairs and made her some supper ,mom joined but no one said a word, I tucked Winona in her bed and stood up to leave "Jane?" she called my name "yes?" she didn't say anything for a moment and then spoke up "um...I-good night" "good night"!when I went to the kitchen my mom was there "you cant let her go!" I yelled at her ,"she has to go there and see the world not just sit with you and that stupid toy!"she yelled back at me "what if she doesn't want to huh?Just like you didn't want to be with our father and look where we are now!" " it's none of your business and don't you dare mention that again" " Yes it's actually my business too we are damaged as well as you are it's not only you , you can't just people make people do whatever you want and force them to" ,Mom stormed out of the kitchen just like Winona did and I was left there alone ,i turned off the fire in the fireplace Then I fell asleep next to me Winona. next morning every everything was quiet even when we arrived to the beach,seagulls won't make a single noise. I sat on the seashore with Winona and read a book out loud "little women" that was the title .the waves tickled our toes like a mother trying to make her baby laugh,we satin peace for a moment when another family arrived I was screaming on the inside ,of course,I don't like people ,they disappoint me .Anyways I did not move ,neither did Winona But after a few moments of observing the family something was wrong Perhaps its that they were not breathing Or maybe that they were just hearing at some point in the ocean All the time But I didn't give it much thought anyways and went on reading What started getting dark I was also happy I like to watch the sunset especially with people I love like my sister ,Winona. We sat next to each other with her head on my shoulder when I suddenly I felt something hit my feet.

I looked up from my position to see that The thing that hit me was little balls ,their color was spectacular they were yellow but with a twist of lime, I pick them up and smelled them it was terrible Winona laughed at me ,but when I looked at her ,I glanced at the family and they looked really mad .I got scared so I packed up our stuff real fast and headed home with Winona a few steps behind I will see what they are when we get home ,I thought .When we got home I tried to chew one of them but it was rockhard I licked it but no taste I give up with them and put them on the kitchen table took a shower ,and went to bed. A few hours later I awoke to my mother screaming my name "mom?"I said nothing but more screaming,I ran to find her in the kitchen with Winona coughing out black slimy stuff on the kitchen floor I started to think what is going on with her then I remembered the mysterious balls, I look at the kitchen table just to find them gone they were seven, now they're four "She swallowed them"I was Whispering "what what did she swallow?"mom whispers back "the balls!"I shouted, "she swallowed the balls!" "what balls??" I couldn't answer it was like I was underwater does,do the breathing family has something to do with this?are the balls from another dimension or universe? or maybe they are a new diamond?or are they just enchanted? None of these questions were answered ,My mind is going 1,000,000 miles an hour when Moms screaming brings me back to what was happening ,Winonas coughing resumes again but now it's even worse ,it's coming out with what seems to be black slugs "Maybe she's poisoned ,maybe we should call the ambulance"I say cutting my moms useless screaming So now what? I try to hit my sister on the back hoping to make her cough the ball out But all my attempts at it fails ,after a few minutes of screaming she looks at me in the eye as if trying to say help me ,but it's too late , Suddenly she disappears Leaving behind dead slugs and black slime ,This is a dream I this is truly a nightmare ,I thought ,I pinch myself but nothing Happens , still I pinch my wrist again ,close my eyes and wait for this to end .nothing. finally it sinks in that this is real, that this is happening I collapse to the ground not knowing what to do and start crying .A few minutes later I get myself together and mop up the floor, I bring my mother to the living room and make her lie down then I called the police .I don't tell them the truth of course, they will think I've gone mad. the Next day the police try to find any evidence or clues of how she got kidnapped, that's what I told them anyways. my mother was in some kind of trauma And didn't say anything just sat down and kept saying blackball over and over while I did

all the talk

"What is her name?"

"Winona Owens"

"School and grades?"

"Bradley elementary ,second grad

"When was she last seen ?"

"Last seen was in her bed but last heard was two in the morning screaming in the kitchen"

"Do you have any idea what are the black things you mentioned?"

"No sir ,but we believe she has spit them out."

And he asked a bunch of other questions I had to lie or they'll think I'm crazy. once the officers left it was my turn to look for her ‏starting with the family ,investigating them.
