"Not bad" I spoke checking the straps of my new armor, it was made of black leather and metal, with a hood.

"That makes you look like an assassin." Naofumi spoke as he too was wearing his new armor.
"And you look like a Bandit" I replied as his mouth twitched, I guess it was his thought too, and with Ernhard naming it the barbarian armor didn't help matters.
"So we need to get to the church to access the dragon hour glass don't we?" I asked Ernhard who nodded.
"Yeah, the dragon hour glass tells us when the waves will be coming." Ernhard replied as he brought forward the best swords that he had.
I started copying all of them, most of them were just basic attack +1 or stuff like that what I was looking for was, special abilities I could increase my stats by leveling up but special abilities ere something I couldn't get.
I found four that I decided to focus on.

Blackbitter - 5% Stamina recovery on kill, +2 Dexterity
Rolac - Berserk - proportional attack increase to HP lost
Moon sword - Meteor slash - Fire burst of energy out of your slashes, +2 Attack
Gluttony - Becomes sharper and deadlier with the amount of blood absorbed

I still had to dip into the sword unlocks from monsters and other things.
I also took gluttony as my second sword. While blackbitter as a extra.
"Where are the others?" I asked as Ernhard pointed at the backdoor.
"Behind the shop, Arna seems to be playing around with Raftalia's feeling for this prick."
"Hey I told both of you, it's not like that" Naofumi spoke in between as I just smirked as Ernhard chuckled.
"And I told you that I am god" Erhard replied further irritating Naofumi.
"Whatever I am going out" He muttered and left the shop before us as I just smiled.
"That idiot doesn't get it does he" Ernhard spoke up as I shrugged nothing we can really do about it except tease them until they accept it.
"We will be off, oh and do start working on some better swords alright, I will buy them even if others don't." I spoke as Ernhard nodded.
I stepped out to see Raftalia drooling over Naofumi's new armor,
"You are out too!" I heard Arna say as she looked at my new armor.
"Looks sturdy enough"Kelin spoke up happy with his new war axe while Arna had her spear repaired while keeping a spare in the carriage.
"So to the church next?" Naofumi asked as I nodded.
"Get in the carriage, we will be going" I spoke looking at the troops that were moving about.
Seemed like the waves were just about here.
The others nodded with Kelin and Raftalia sitting at the front while the three of us in the back, well to be exact I was lying on top of the carriage.
As we arrived at the spires of the church, must say the church looked impressive as I got down along with the others.
We entered the church as I could immediately feel the eyes focused on me.
"We would like to use the dragon hour glass." I spoke to the nun standing nearby as she hesitated a bit before nodding and leading us to the hourglass and surprise surprise there were the simp and the idiot.
"Oh ho seems like someone showed up." Motoyasu said as he came into view along with his party. While the idiot chose to remain silent seems like he has some chance at redemption.
"Yeah seeing your sorry ass with that bitch really gives me confidence" I replied as I could see a vein pop up on motoyasu's head.
"Says the person hanging out with a criminal."
"Says the person hanging out with Amber."
"Wait who?"
"It's an intellectual things your single celled brain wouldn't get it."
Our banter was about to continue when Itsuki coughed.
"I think we should get on with it, we are just wasting time here" he spoke as I kind of agreed.
We placed our weapons forward, as the priest deposited a grain of sand into the weapons as a clock appeared on the display.

Seeing the time around tomorrow afternoon, and The location was a town west of the capital.
"Well well well, we should rest up, the wave is tomorrow."I said as the other two nodded while Naofumi too agreed with it.
And we left shortly after as I could see Motoyasu was still confused about Amber.
I was walking out when I could feel the gazes on me from the priests.
Naofumi sighed as we stepped out of the church, "I will see you tomorrow morning then." He spoke and left with Raftalia.
I opened the stats screen after climbing on top of the carriage.

Dragon god eye seemed to still be inactive, I was pretty sure I could walkthrough a C rank dungeon currently but having only one eye did hamper my fighting skills a lot since I had to always keep myself on edge for my blind spot during fights.
Hopefully I will be able to get rid of it soon.
I should probably visit the tower I need info on the royal family first.
"Oi both of you, get to the inn I will come back, in a while" I spoke poking my head down as both of them nodded.
I jumped off heading for the clock tower, keeping my sense on alert for any eyes as there were none.
I stood near the giant bell as I sensed Joel approaching and he appeared a few minutes after I reached there.
"Yes sir hero how an I be of assistance?" Joel spoke as I nodded.
"The royal family, I want their histories major point in their life"I spoke as Joel nodded.
"It will take about two days to compile everything sir Hero, I will deliver it to you after the waves."
"That's good enough for me, do include portraits so I can recognize the others"
"Of course sir hero"
I jumped off heading back to the inn, now I need to get myself prepared, I don't what kind of beasts we would need to fight but I should still prepare myself mentally for the worst possible outcome.

I woke up the next morning, as I could see the soldiers preparing themselves for the march Atmosphere was tense I smiled this might be another world but the tension was similar to when entering a dungeon.
Arna groaned behind on the bed as she woke up.
"You seem strangely excited" She said looking at me as I smiled,
"Feels like home" I replied as she looked at me confused by the answer.
"How does this feel like home?"
"You wouldn't understand even if I told you, get ready we will be leaving as early as possible." I spoke as she nodded, while I went to freshen up.
The journey took a few hours as I looked at the terrain, this was a plain meaning if we were outnumbered then it could easily turn into a hell hole.
"I am going to look around, you two help with the evacuation of the townsfolk to a safe distance" I said to Arna and Kelin who nodded.
"What about you two?" I asked looking at Naofumi who had hitched a ride with us.
"We will help with the evacuation I know some people there so it will speed things up." Naofumi replied as I nodded and jumped off running around high points finding escape routes, and other stuff.
I looked back but people didn't seem to be evacuating except the few I saw going out with our carriage.
I came back outside the town as I met up with Arna and the others.
"What happened?"
"Well, it seems the army has been setting up defenses around the town to keep it safe so people aren't leaving. We were able to get some who trusted the Shield Hero to leave but most of them stayed." Kelin replied,
The fuck kind of thinking is that? allowing civilians into an active zone.
I looked at Raftalia who had just come up.
"They are not agreeing to leave, Sir Hero" she replied as I sighed, Nothing I can do about it if they weren't willing to listen.

We started preparing as I ate up a little the tension was quite evident,

The defenses were finished as the troops started taking positions around,

"Both of you watch your back and keep the monster away from the people." I told Arna and Kelin who nodded and left towards the central part of town where most of the civilians were.
Naofumi had also decided to manage the defenses seems like having civilians around also didn't suit him well.
As the Timer started coming down, I looked at Motoyasu's party covering the east, Itsuki in the west, Naofumi in the south while I was in the northern part of town.
The sky started turning red as various gates started appearing and so did the undead that spawned at various places, along with some bee type monsters.
I cracked my neck as the undead started their attack.
I was just about to start when I noticed the number of soldiers around seemed to have decreased significantl, what the? there were none protecting the people,
"Help!" I heard a cry from the nearby house as I cut the first one that attacked me, fucking hell so that was their plan, I spat on the floor as I started cutting my way through the undead.
I dodged the sting from a bee and cut the giant undead's leg.
"AAH!" I heard the same cry as I saw a group holding shovels and whatnot to defend themselves, Bloody hell did the soldiers leave as I got distracted by the undead?
"Get back! Moon slash!" I shouted as the crescent shape cut the bees trying to attack the people in half.
"Head for the center I will distract them. GO!" I shouted as I enhanced my leg and kicked the undead in front into the group behind drawing their aggro while the civilians escaped.
I jumped over the undead slashing and cutting them apart constantly sending out energy slashed to draw the aggro allowing people to get out, as I cut through the undead,
Slashing the giant undead's legs I picked up the sword one was carrying and threw it into another giant one killing it.
Keeping the aggro on me without a shield is fucking tough as I had to constantly attack the mob in the back with ranged attack of the moon sword to keep the aggro.
I picked up what smelled like an oil barrel and threw it into the undead while picking up a burning piece of wood and throwing into into the spilt oil lighting the mob on fire.

Notifications rang through my head as I went on a slaughter streak while helping out the civilians that had decided to gather up in one spot while I cleared up the monsters around them.
I cut down the last ones that was nearby as I looked at the civilians.
"Well well well fuckers when some one tells you fuckers to evacuate, then its for a fucking reason" I spoke looking at them.
"T..That the soldiers...."
"Yeah the same guys that ran away?" I cut the person trying to speak as I picked up a broken brick and threw it through an undead loitering around killing it.
