98 The Other Lives

The princess quietly looked at the array behind Nodus, and without even knowing, her tears were flowing down her cheeks.

'Father..'

Song Ai closed her eyes and the scene of many giants clashing against each other, destroyed every celestial planet that they fought by across the entire universe.

While Nodus was waiting for White Jade analysis, the markings on the stone glowed slightly, and he felt something pulling him forward.

Nodus looked at the runes on the giant stone as he felt the weird aura around it.

Suddenly, his vision disappeared, he could not see anymore even though his eyes were still open and he confirmed by touching his face.

'Something is off..'

The face he was touching had a small beard and mustache.

'Facial hair...Middle-aged man?'

He could feel the structure of his face and the jaw bones that defined the chin.

Instead of panicking, Nodus took a deep breath, and he realized that he was slowly feeling warm on the inside, images started to appear in his head, his ears registered weird sounds, and his nose woke up him after picking up an awful stench around him.

'What is this scent..'

The image in his confused him as he stood up and knocked down something behind him that echoed through the empty hallways.

The image in his head was actually the halls that got clearer as the sound of the falling object echoed around the buildings.

Nodus could see a dozen of scratch marks, broken glass and dead bodies in his head and as the sound quieted down, the image became limited to 3 meters around him.

"Graaww"

Nodus could hear a growl that came beneath him as he slowly picked up the object on the ground.

'I can tell how far it is, but I can't see it..'

Even though his hearing was good enough to hear through the thick concrete floor, he would still prefer vision overhearing.

The object that felt onto the ground was actually a walking cane.

The cane was black and smooth, it was made out of bamboo-like wood, and he could hear a sound coming within the rod whenever he moved it.

'Water?..'

The inside of the cane had many holes with a small amount of water that made a weird high pitch sound whenever Nodus shook it slightly.

Suddenly, the corpses around the halls started to twitch as they slowly stood up funnily, like a baby that just started to walk.

Nodus could feel something or someone targetting him.

The corpse that stood up first pounced at Nodus on sight and was smacked away by the black cane, causing black blood to splatter on the wall.

Nodus noticed that his strength was decent for someone who was blind.

"Graa!"

The corpses from the other side of the halls followed the sound of the commotion and filled the halls way entirely as they surrounded Nodus on both sides.

Nodus swung the cane to clean the blood before taking a stance.

The swing caused the high pitch noise to vibrate through the cane, and suddenly, the corpses around him quieten them down.

Their heads and arms were drooped down like as if they ran out of battery.

'I see..-'

Nodus felt a sharp pain in his brain as he received the memory of the blind person.

"I understand.."

Nodus gripped firmly on the cane and gently moved around in a pattern as if he was a music conductor.

The corpses around him heard a flute sound-alike and responded like a group of obedient children by lined up their backs against the wall.

Nodus went past the zombies as he gently shook his cane and heard the growl again, this times it was on the same floor as him.

He ordered the corpses to slap the walls, causing the echo once again to see what he is dealing with.

He saw a 4 armed human being with no eyes and based on the texture, it looks like it had no skins and was covered entirely with muscles.

'A mutant..? No... It's a 2-star ghoul.'

The blind person's memory corrected him as he moved his cane with a different rhythm.

The zombies started to go crazy as they twisted their necks everywhere before running off toward the ghoul.

The ghoul easily tore apart the first wave of zombies that pounced on him with their mouth open and before long, it was submerged by the horde of zombies that feasted on its exterior layer of muscles, leaving only a pile of bones behind.

'Hmm... This is useful... But I can only remember this much.'

Nodus made his way along the halls that were connected like a square before arriving at the pile of bones that was in front of the only staircases.

With a wave of his cane, the zombies ran down the stairs while some jumped out of the window after he ordered them to go down.

'I should be more specific next times..'

Nine out of ten that jumped out through the windows stayed asleep forever while the lucky one landed on its corpse buddy and made it way back into the building.

"Sigh... I need to study more about this place."

Nodus went down at least 10 set of stairs before arriving at the main floor, and on his last set of stairs, he regained his vision that was gazing at the bright markings.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and turned around to the princess.
