Pokémon Aren't Cheap

A Day Later

"So, please remind me what are we doing here again?" Jyn whispered as he tightly held the bow in his hand.

"Deoxys wanted us to try and hunt, but this time, we will be using these little guys," Erika said while playing with the small brown worm on her shoulder.

"But why are they all crawling all over me!?" Jyn complained while the creature on Erika's shoulder leapt onto his face, joining his siblings.

"Well, maybe your calling card is a Weedle Whisperer." Erika joked, and her brother rolled his eyes.

"But still, why would Deoxys want us to hunt with these worms?" Jyn mumbled: "I honestly don't know how well the Weedles can help us."

Erika shrugged: "Deoxys said that despite their sizes, they were more powerful than they looked."

"But still, it's hard to believe..." Jyn stopped as he bumped into Erika.

She crouched low in front of a bush and quietly notched an arrow onto her bow: "Goblins, six of them."

A solemn attitude donned Jyn's face, and he nodded. Taking a deep breath, Erika aimed her weapon at the closest goblin's heart.

*WHOOSH*

She released the bowstring, and the projectile shot out like a bullet. The arrow pierced the goblin's chest and burst its heart. Instantly, all the other goblins were alert from their friend's death and roared in anger.

*BAM*

A second arrow fired by Jyn ground itself inside another Goblin's brain. Pinpointing the beastmen's location, the Goblins charged.

"Jyn," Erika muttered, reloading her bow.

"Yeah," He growled, taking out the stone dagger by his waist: "Cover me."

Unlike his previous starving state, thanks to Deoxys, Jyn managed to regain his lost body weight swiftly, recovering his strength and agility. With fast speed, Jyn rushed out of his hiding place in a flash. Dashing towards one of the Goblins, he sidestepped their rugged weapons and plunged his knife into the back of the furthest Goblin.

"Three more to go," Jyn calmly observed.

*THWACK*

An arrow appeared on the back of a Goblin's head as Erika supported from the rear. However, in doing so, it attracted the attention of one of the Goblins and the monster charged before she could add another arrow.

"Sh*t!" Jyn cursed as the second Goblin blocked his path, unable to protect his sister.

Suddenly, dozens of barbs shot out of nowhere, impaling themselves along the charging Goblin's back. The monster cried out in surprise as his wounds turned purple and a poisonous liquid seeped into his blood.

Not shortly after, the Goblin collapsed, and Jyn finished the last Goblin by slitting the monster's throat. When they were sure that the coast was clear, Erika cautiously emerged from her hiding place and stared at the fallen Goblin in disbelief.

"It was clearly the Weedles that did this, right?" She asked while glancing at the monster's rotting flesh.

"Wee Weedle!" The Weedles chirped while wagging their tails.

Carefully plucking one of the barbs, Erika hummed and used a piece of fibre string and tied the thorn around the head of the arrow: "We can use this."

While watching his sister work, Jyn suddenly felt the hair on his body stand on end.

"Erika, watch out!" He shouted and pushed her aside.

*SHWING*

Instantly, a massive blade barely missed Erika's head, chopping off a tree next to her. They gazed at the source of the attack and spotted a Giant Mantis that managed to ambush them.

Jyn cursed and tried to attack the monster's legs, but its dense exoskeleton protected the insect from his strikes: "We need to get out of here!"

Unbefitting its physique, Giant Mantis quickly maneuvered between the two demi-humans, ready to lunge. However, before it could, the Weedles leapt into the air and unleashed a spray of white substance from their mandibles.

The liquid solidified around the Giant Mantis's joints, and the stickiness trapped the monster. Jyn and Erika gathered their breath and gazed at the Giant Mantis, struggling to break free.

*BOOOM*

Before the monster could react, a figure plummeted from the sky, and its fist completely shattered the Giant Mantis's head. The humanoid stared at the stunned Erika and Jyn, asking in a soft tone: 'Erika, Jyn, are you two hurt?'

"No, we're fine." Erika assured: "I'm just a little surprised."

'I see...' Deoxys mumbled.

Deoxys glimpsed at the corpse of the Giant Mantis and flexed its fingers. Digging into the insect's chest, Deoxys pulled out the monster's Mana Stone, and the Giant Mantis's body immediately dissolved.

'I have collected enough data,' Deoxys said while observing the shiny Mana Stone: 'Let's go.'

Gathering around the alien, Erika and Jyn placed their hands on Deoxys's shoulder as the Pokemon used Teleport, bringing the group back to the village. When they returned, Erika and Jyn groaned as they stumbled dizzily.

"I still can't get used to this..." Erika mumbled.

"Yeah...." Jyn said while trying to hold in his vomit.

'You two should go and rest for today,' Deoxys said: 'Most chores were already being attended to.'

Waving the two demi-humans goodbye, Deoxys moved towards the tree in the centre of the village. On its way, it gazed at the hard-working villagers constructing wooden houses, upgrading from their uncomfortable tents.

This place was slowly improving day by day. Long gone was the pitiful environment, but now it's more akin to a small civilisation that was on the path to greatness.

When Deoxys arrived, the tree trunk automatically opened, revealing a dark catacomb. Upon entering, it spotted the illuminating golden orb. Placing the Mana Stone of the Mantis and the group of goblins they hunted, Deoxys felt a sense of satisfaction.

After the first time summoning the three Weedles, Deoxys have fully learnt everything it needed to know about this artifact. By giving the orb Mana Stones, it was able to generate those resources into a source of energy.

Manipulating the energy, Deoxys was able to form a connection with the World of Pokemon, creating eggs of any Pokemon the alien wished. However, many things needed to be taken into consideration.

First, the more robust species of Pokemon require a significant amount of energy to create. Skimming through all the options, Deoxys has personally grouped these Pokemon into several categories.

Low

Medium

High

Each ranking was sorted by how much energy was needed, with the Low Ranking pokemons typically weak and the High ranks being the Pokemon Species that was extremely powerful. There were also categories within these three ranks sorted by their cost, types and their overall usefulness.

Under Arceus's instructions, one day, Deoxys will create all species of Pokemon, but right now, it needs to summon ones that can help the demi-human village thrive. With the village under its care, Deoxys couldn't afford to summon powerful pokemons at the start.

Food was the primary thing needed for people to survive. If Deoyxs hunted all the monsters, would there be enough for the demi-humans and the Pokemons to thrive?

'It's best if I conserve as much energy as possible.' Deoxys deduced that it messed with the artifact.

Finally, there was one last function this artifact can do...

Taking the small green crystal, Deoxys brought it close to the artifact as it transformed into a vacuum and engulfed the gem. There, the artifact emitted a pinkish light. The second function, arguably the most important in Deoxys's mind, was the ability to revive its child.

Similar to creating Pokemon, its child would need energy to repair itself, a lot of energy. Compared with the amount of energy a goblin's mana stone can give, Deoxys needed to kill at least ten billion goblins to reach that amount.

Reaching into the orb, Deoxys returned the green crystal to its side. Despite the massive expense, Deoxys only felt a slight disappointment. Because, if there's a cost, it was an assurance that Deoxys's goal wasn't a pipe dream.

'Soon, we will be together again...' Deoxys muttered softly as the artifact ejected the crystal. In the end, it could only helplessly dream that one day, its wish would be fulfilled...

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
