But trust was a big word. Could I invest something as big and significant as trust into two people I'd met just a few weeks ago, people I hardly knew? Then again, there was Nate. I knew even less about him, yet, there was something about him which compelled me to trust him. Some sort of natural instinct which seemed to propel me towards him.

Instead of answering his question I yanked the door of his truck open and settled inside, to my relief he did the same instead of arguing further.

We drove in silence for most of the ride, each consumed by our own thoughts. The ringing of my cell phone jerked me back into reality. I absentmindedly rummaged through my bag.

Finally, I managed to retrieve my phone. I glanced at the called ID and my eyes widened in disbelief. I quickly answered it.

/"Mom?/" I said uncertainly.

/"Hey honey!/" Her mother's chirpy voice answered.

/"Um, hi?/" I answered a little awkwardly.
