Chapter One

"Please let my cousin go. He didn't mean it. Please," Phoenix yelled struggling to get to her cousin.

"Let him go haha he bumped into the noble king. He's gonna get what's coming to him. Come on boy," a guard said.

"He didn't mean to," Phoenix pleaded.

The guards holding Phoenix threw her to the ground and then laughed.

"You better get going or you will face the punishment as well," the guard laughed then left with her cousin.

"Don't worry Zion we will find a way to save you," Phoenix yelled after them.

The guards walked back dragging Zion along with them. The noble prince was heading out with his knights close behind him. When he saw the guards with the boy he stopped them.

"What can we do you for young prince," one guard asked.

"What did this boy do," the noble prince asked.

"This is a demon young prince. He is accused of attacking his majesty," another guard said.

"Where are you taking him," the prince asked.

"To the dungeons," a third guard said.

"Let Jax and Bex take him there," the prince said.

"Are you sure young prince? You look like you were about to head out," a fourth guard said.

"Let them take him. I forgot my mask anyway," the noble prince said.

The guards nodded then threw Zion at the prince's feet and left. The noble prince knelt and lifted the boy's head. Zion had tears in his eyes and was trembling. The noble prince stood up and turned towards Jax and Bex.

"Take him to my room. I will be there shortly to clean and treat his wounds," the noble prince said then walked back towards the palace.

Jax picked up the boy and followed the prince back to the palace. Bex walked beside Jax. At the palace Jax laid Zion on the bed then he and Bex waited outside the door. When the prince returned Jax and Bex bowed then stepped aside. The prince then entered the room. Zion backed away from him til he hit the wall.

"I won't hurt you. I just want to treat your wounds," the prince said.

Zion stood there trembling in fear as tears rolled down his cheeks. The noble prince got up and walked over to the bed and sat down some medicine.

"I'm Kace. I won't walk towards you unless you want me to. I will wait for you to calm down so you're not so afraid," the noble prince said.

Kace went over to the wardrobe and pulled out some clothes then laid them on the bed close to the boy. Zion stood there staring at them. Kace went and sat down in a chair away from the bed.

"I...I...I'm Zion," the boy said.

"Nice name," Kace said.

Zion blushed a little bit but buried his face. Kace laughed at his reaction then stood up and went towards the bed. Zion didn't move.

"You may put these on. The bathroom is over there. (Points at the door to the right of Zion.) Once you get changed I will help you treat your wounds," Kace said.

Zion carefully grabbed the clothes and then went into the bathroom. He changed out of his bloody torn clothes and into the ones Kace had handed him. As he was about to open the door he heard Kace talking to someone.

"Brother can I go with you the next time you go out please," a girl asked.

"I'm afraid you can't. Father doesn't want you to go outside the walls," Kace answered.

"But you go all the time," the girl said.

"Yea and how many times does Father yell at me for it," Kace said.

"But he doesn't just yell he hurts you as well. I want to see the people outside the walls like you do. Father says there are creatures out there as well as other wizards," the girl said.

"Young prince. His Majesty is looking for you," Bex said.

"Tell Father I'll be there in a bit. Im talking with Kaydence.

"Of course young prince," Bex said then left.

"The creatures are called demons. Some of them are quite friendly," Kace said.

"Really so cool. Maybe someday can i go with you," Kaydence asked.

"Yes, when you are bigger and more grown up. If you still want to go outside the walls I will take you. Now don't you have to study and practice to do," Kace said.

"Yes, and thanks, brother. Bye now," Kaydence said then left happily.

"You may come out now. Let's get your wounds treated then I have to go see my father. I can get you out of here once I return," Kace said.

Zion exited the bathroom and slowly walked over to Kace. Kace treated his wounds and then left to see his father. As he was leaving he told Jax and Bex to protect Zion while he visited his father. Zion laid down on the bed and ended up falling asleep.
