Ming Xie

Today, Ming Xie woke up with a bright smile on his face. He did his morning routine of stretching, brushing his teeth and otherwise finishing his business in the bathroom, before he checked in on his sister.

Ming Xie's sister had been sick for five years now, and Ming Xie was distraught with sorrow every day he saw his sister's suffering, but he still didn't show her an ounce of weakness. He put on a brave face and gently shook her to wake her up. He then put a board with legs over his sister's waist. This was an invention which he had designed for his sister to be able to easily eat while in bed, and it was something his sister often praised him for in her moments of lucidity.

After serving his sister tea and rice-porridge, he helped her clean up and put the board away. Before leaving, Ming Xie gave his sister a warm hug, and made sure that her pillows were well positioned. Then, he stood up, got dressed, and walked outside into the soothing sunlight.

The reason he was so happy today, despite his sister being sick, was that he had finally saved up enough money to be able to have a single attempt at picking out a treasure in the Observation Hall. Ming Xie had always had great luck when it was up to him to pick an unknown, and thus he had always dreamed of going to the Observation Hall and getting an item which he could use to save his sister. And even if it couldn't save her, perhaps he could trade it for someone else to save her.

Ming Xie had dreamed of becoming immortal through cultivation from a young age, but when his sister had gotten sick he had to place a lot of attention on her. He hadn't truly cultivated yet, as he didn't have a suitable cultivation technique, but he still diligently practiced martial arts and exercised to the point of bleeding fists and throwing up every single day.

Today…Ming Xie believed that his fate would change forever, and that he would rise to greatness due to a miraculous treasure. He dreamed that with this immense power, healing his sister would be as easy as simply waving a hand. However, he couldn't maintain such fantasies for long. It was time to truly check if his luck was as good as he thought it was.

After Ming Xie had purchased a single attempt, he strode down the aisles of items without even glancing at them. To maximize his luck, Ming Xie would pick an item completely at random. He had long since closed his eyes, and was aimlessly walking about until he felt that he had gone far enough. After spinning around for a bit with one arm pointing outwards, he stopped and looked straight at where his arm was pointing.

His arm was pointing at a seemingly ordinary black pouch. Ming Xie didn't know what this could possibly be, and neither did he realize how a pouch could be helpful to him in any way, but he didn't hesitate to hold up the token he was given and tap the item with it. After the item was tapped, the token disappeared together with the technique which was hiding the pouch's aura. The floating pouch landed gently in Ming Xie's hand, and at the same moment, a grand aura arrived at Ming Xie's left-hand side.

The aura subsided and a giant of a man appeared in Ming Xie's vision. He nearly fell backwards in astonishment at this man's imposing figure, but in the end he was able to catch himself in his reverie and snap out of his instinctive fear. Before Ming Xie could say anything, Gaofeng, the recently arrived imposing figure, simply stated "Give me the pouch, otherwise…" His words trailed off as he stared at Ming Xie again. Only now did Gaofeng realize that Ming Xie also had a gigantic green glow surrounding him. This was completely unrelated to the pouch and was only related to Ming Xie's person.

Ming Xie's green sun didn't lose out at all to the pouch in his hand, and was perhaps even slightly larger. Gaofeng couldn't tell accurately, but he definitely had to get this youth on his side. Previously he wanted to merely snatch the pouch, or perhaps trade for it with some of his black prisms, but now he instead thought of another solution. "Junior brother, please hear me out. This pouch is of great importance to me, and I cannot bear to part with it. However, I realize that simply snatching the pouch from an innocent junior such as yourself wouldn't be too good. What we could do, is trade. If you give me the pouch, I will grant you one wish as long as it's within my means. This I swear upon my, Shangsheng Gaofeng's good name and reputation."

Meng Xie's face had first turned pale when he heard Gaofeng's initial words, but this reconsideration and proposal was not too unreasonable. Meng Xie considered for a moment, before he said, "I am willing to consider it as long as senior tells me what this pouch truly is." If Gaofeng hadn't wanted to get this youth into his camp, he would likely have spewed nothing but lies, but he didn't want to ruin a potential future partnership due to lying about the circumstances in which they first met, and so he decided to tell the truth.

Before arriving at the item, Gaofeng had no clue what he was looking for, but when he first laid eyes upon the pouch, he realized what this great fortune was. And truly great it was. This was a legendary Ancient spacial pouch. He easily recognized it due to the lack of spacial fluctuations in addition to the patterns which only could be seen when using one's soul to inspect the object. These patterns were clearly the ancient patterns which he had read about, and with the lack of leaking spacial fluctuations he could safely conclude that this wasn't a cheap product, but rather authentic.

The patterns could rather be described as lines carved into space itself, but there was no surviving method of creating these patterns to Gaofeng's knowledge. Additionally, the knockoff-products that were made in the modern era were lacking the true core aspect of the spacial pouch, and could only increase the size of the inside of the pouch relative to the outside. And even this could only be done to a small degree, making a pouch which could contain about one cubic meter of mass. Since even this faulty method was incomplete, these pouches would always emit some spacial fluctuations as the patterns slowly faded away. Hence, they could only last for a limited amount of time, perhaps ten years if one were lucky.

The Ancient spacial pouches, however, directly connected the pouch, as if a teleportation formation, to a completely separate space. The size of this kind of space could vary from 1000 cubic meters to millions of cubic meters, and this space was completely stable and unshakable, meaning that the pouch would be able to last, in theory, forever. Such spaces also had the beneficial property of invoking a kind of stasis on anything entering it, meaning that if you put fresh food inside of it and took it out a million years later, it would still be as fresh as when you initially put it in.

Gaofeng nodded at the youth in front of him, "Fine, I will explain. Listen carefully."

Hmmm, where might this lead?

Be sure to tune in to the next episode of Demonic Saint! Have a great day <3

Edit: I decided to change this chapter a bit, and the sick person is being changed from Ming Xie's mother to his sister to facilitate some further developments.
