The World Of Demons

Carl didn't really know where to start. In fact he was not sure he fully understood what he was about to say.

"Ok I'm going to explain this to the best of my abilities," said Carl.

"Now I hope you know that there are a lot of mysteries that even science its self can't explain, like really strange things that the human mind can't simply comprehend. One of these strange things is the existence of demons."

"You can't be serious?" Kelvin asked.

"Dude I'm super serious about this so just listen" Carl said.

"Well according to my mentor, demons are beings, born in hell due to mortal sins. They have a dark desire to cause destruction and bloodshed, it's like they are addicted to the feeling of chaos which they enjoy for some reason. Anyway because of their addiction demons started to breach earth by opening something known as hells gate. It's like a portal between hell and the mortal realm."

"Wait slow down, let me get this straight so you are saying that demons exist and they open portals from hell to earth so they can destroy and satisfy their addiction, Are you serious?"

Kelvin asked, with a doubtful look on his face.

"Kelvin trust me. I know all this because I'm a demon hunter; actually I'm still under training. You see the demon hunting organization is an organization owned by the church that deals with the extermination of demons, that was why I wanted to… you know, kill you" Carl answered.

"You wanted to kill me because you thought I was a demon?!"

"No I really meant it when I said that you're a demon well to be specific, you have a demon inside you and the demon is gradually taking over your soul even as we speak. Though demons usually take over in an instant, I wonder why it is different in your case. " Carl said.

"Hmm…Can you tell me everything that happened yesterday after we parted ways?"

So Kelvin told Carl all that happened from the encounter with the demon to the dream he had. After listening to Kevin, Carl thought for a moment and said

"hmm… I see, from what you said I think the reason you haven't been fully possessed by the demon is because the demon is in a weak state, which means that the rate at which it consumes your soul has been greatly reduced. Do you know what this means? We have a chance of separating you from the demon before you become a full awakened demon."

Carl said with hope in his eyes. Kelvin looked at his friend with a really confused look before saying

"I'm sorry before I become a what?!"

"You see there are different types of demons, the most basic and weakest of demons are called demonic beasts. They have a more beast like feature and they have lesser intelligence. This type of demons mostly resides in hell. Then there is another type of demon we call the humanoid demons and it's more like a humanoid demonic beast with insane physical abilities. When this humanoid demons possess the body of humans they become what we call an awakened demon. Awakened demons are more dangerous because they gain intelligence and gain demonic powers through an awakening."

Carl explained.

"What is an awakening?" Kelvin asked

"It is like an evolution awakened demons go through which gives them powers and special abilities. You still have your human side which makes you a half demon; I can ask my mentor if there are any demon separation techniques or rituals so that we can separate you from the demon."

There was a brief silence between the both of them; Kelvin was having a hard time believing all he just heard. It's true that he really did see all those weird things yesterday and there has to be a good explanation for what he saw like a hallucination or something, but demons on earth was a little too much for him so he asked

"how long have you been killing demons?"

The look on Carl's face changed a bit as he answered

"To be honest I just started about a year ago. A week later after my father's burial, a man came to me secretly and told me that my father was a demon hunter and that I had inherited the powers of a demon hunter from him. I didn't believe him at first until he showed me an actual demon. He displayed a great deal of skills that a normal human couldn't possibly achieve and finally killed the demon. He told me all about demons and that my father actually died fighting a demon. He also encouraged me to join the demon hunting organization which I did. I joined their ranks as a junior demon hunter and I've been training under him ever since."

Kelvin looked at Carl and said,

"I'm sorry Carl; It's just that I'm finding it difficult to believe all you just said."

"I thought as much, I didn't even believe it the first time I heard it so I'm going to show you proofs. Firstly you remember in our little fight that I pierced your palm with my dagger, well if you look at your palm now it should be completely healed as though you were never injured in the first place."

Kelvin noticed the pain had gone. In fact it stopped hurting a while ago. He looked at his hand and to his surprise it was perfectly healed just as Carl had said.

"And now I'm going to prove to you that I'm a demon hunter."

Carl said. He stood up and started walking towards the edge of the roof. Kelvin followed him to the edge of the roof and was expecting a display of some special power, only to see Carl jump of the roof. Kelvin rushed forward to try and grab him but he was to late Carl had already jumped off and was descending to the ground. He looked down expecting an inevitable outcome of his friend but was shocked to see that Carl had landed perfectly on his two feet.

'How the hell did he survive that, we are like three stories up and on top of the school building.' Kelvin thought.

Carl jumped up and reached back up to the school roof in an instant and landed in one swift motion.

"Dude you're crazy what if someone had seen you?!" Kelvin asked.

"Relax students aren't usually in the school compound by this time." Carl replied back.

"So tell me, do you believe me now?"

"Yeah I do but I have two question though, firstly, how did you survive that fall. And secondly how could you tell that I had a demon within me?" Kelvin asked

"It's pretty easy. Like I said, I'm still a demon hunter under training. And due to the strong attacks from demons, it's really important that I consume a body enhancement pill each day, to strengthen my senses and muscles. As for your second question, demons release a demonic aura that only demon hunters can sense. I sensed that same aura from you."

The both of them wanted to talk some more but they heard the bell.

"Hey I would really appreciate it if you don't tell anyone what I told you."

Carl said as they were heading back to class

"trust me I won't." Kelvin assured him.

The rest of the day went smoothly and things were back to normal between the two friends. Kelvin was a bit excited about all he learned from his friend today but little did he know that it was just the beginning of a dark journey full of pain and anguish.
