Gu Xiao Wai/Hong Syao Long:

The original author of "The Blooming Rose", a story of a rejected female cultivator, Hong Hua Long, who rose to become a demonic sect leader only to be cut down. After the author killed off the character she named after herself, our author was dragged into the tale of "The Blooming Rose" after the death of Hua Long. She is currently in the body of the eldest son of the enemies of Hua Long, Hong Lou Zhang and Bai Shi Du. She has a younger twin sister who has split personality disorder due to the demonic chi left from Hua Long's death.

Hong Hua Long/Hong Mo Li

Younger twin sister of Hong Syao Long. Her split personality disorder wasn't obvious as a child. During the daytime she is a gentle, well-bred, lady who is the darling of the Hong Clan. However, at night, when Hua Long's chi gets stronger due to the Yin energy of the night, Hua Long's mind takes over.

Hong Lou Zhong

The original protagonist from "The Blooming Rose". He was a member of a branch family of the Hong Clan. However, due to his taking over after eradicating the corrupt Main branch, he is now the Head of the Hong Clan. His character is strict and upright. While sometimes he needs to take a devious action, it is all in the name of good and righteousness. He has one main wife and one concubine. While he does not love his main wife, Bai Shi Du, anymore he respects her and listens to her council. While he loves his concubine, Zhan Mi Lan, she presents herself as too gentle and kind to have his respect.

Bai Shi Du

Originally a handmaiden for Hong Hua Long, she started to hate the Hong Main Branch after her sister's rape and murder by Hua Long's eldest brother, and her almost rape by the younger. She helped Lou Zhong enact his revolution and eventually fell for him. Due to their closeness, and her albinism, they married before their final battle with Hua Long to raise moral and reject discrimination. While it hurts her that their love has died, she is happy that she has given him an heir. She is intelligent, calm, and collected. She loves both her children deeply. She suspects that Zhan Mi Lan isn't as simple as she portrays herself, and so is on guard against her and her children.

Zhan Mi Lan

One of Hua Long's former close friends, her clan eventually betrayed the former Hong Main Branch and allied with Lou Zhong. Six years after Hua Long's death, five years after the twins are born, Mi Lan and Lou Zhang marry and produce children. She portrays herself as a soft and gentle lady who is slightly silly and spoiled. In truth she is rather cunning and has plans on becoming the main wife through making one of her sons the heir.

Hong Lu Tai

Second young master of the Hong Clan. Takes after his father in attitude. Loves his mother and respects his elder siblings, is a little afraid of Shi Du due to her wary nature of his mother. Six years younger than the twins. Wants his younger brother to become more serious.

Hong Shi Zhou

Third young master of the Hong Clan. The most clever and intelligent of the Hong siblings, afraid of being used as his mother's pawn, he cultivates an air of being a silk pants. Has the clearest idea on his mother's real nature. Because of this, he is wary of the twins and Shi Du. He looks down on his father. He respects Lu Tai, and wishes only to be a helping hand to him. Eight years younger than the twins.
