8 Attack on Demon!

A/N- Sorry I am a day late but yesterday was Mother's Day, so I was a bit busy. I also have school and everything but whatever. Anyway, this is my first time writing so if you guys have any idea on how to make the story better or any insight you can give me, it will be best appreciated. (A/N Done)

Letting everyone in, I sigh. This will be a busy day. We all started to sit down and then Kati served them some drinks and food.

"So, why have you guys come up the mountain?" I asked.

"Tenshi, you don't want your mother to visit you?" My mother gave a pitiful look.

"Mom. Why are you giving me that look? You know what I mean."

Mr. Akai started to say, "We came here because we wanted to talk to you guys. You and Kati."

"Huh. Dad, why do you need to talk to us?" Kati stopped what she was doing and looked at her father.

"We were wondering about the curse." My father said,

"The curse doesn't hurt us." I know because instead of hurting us it just brings us luck.

"It seems so." Mr. Akai said.

"Did you guys come here to just say that?"

"Yep yep." My mother nodded her head

Ok.

I thought it would be more serious. Though I guess it is a curse that I bear, living with my wife, and their daughter. They were worried that my curse may seem dormant and will act up at any given time.

"Okay, so will you guys be staying for the night, or will you be staying a while then go back?" Our house is medium size, but I don't think we can fit everyone here.

"We will leave after staying a while." I'm sure Mr. Akai is still worried about the 'curse'.

During the time they were here, they didn't do anything worth typing to tell you. We only talked. My parents and Kai's parents asked us questions about how we are doing up on the mountain and whether they can breathe well since when they came up, they had trouble breathing.

We told them that after spending a year here, we have gotten used to thin air and have practiced breathing to breathe more comfortably.

They also asked how we were doing, and we told them what has happened here and the luck we have been experiencing since we wanted to let our parents know that the curse isn't harmful and that it is safe.

Our parents were a bit suspicious about that but what can I do? It is not easy removing the superstitions of the people here. They stayed until the sun was setting.

We said goodbye and then they left while telling us that they would visit more often. Kati and I just slumped down in bed after a long day of talking and stuff.

"Today was a long day, wasn't it?" Kati said while cuddling up with me.

"Yeah," I sigh, "It seems your parents are still a bit wary of me." I chuckle a bit at the end.

"Well, they are worried about their daughter and worried that the mark on your body would also affect me and curse me. They are also scared that it would affect them." She consoled me.

"Yeah. Well. Let's just go to bed. We have a long day tomorrow."

"What is tomorrow?"

"Our crops are ready to get picked. Then we have to replant the seeds, then later we have to get water from the river and then filter it, I have to train. We also need to cut up some wood since our firewood is running low. We also have other things to do too."

"..." Kati was silent. Then she rolled around on the bed while holding her head. "Right. So many things to do. I am going to be tired again tomorrow."

I laugh, "Well, you won't be alone. I will do most of the heavy lifting."

"No! I will help. A wife must support her husband." She said with a determined gaze.

"You will help me by doing other things and supporting me."

We decided to end our conversation and go to sleep. We have a long day and this is the fate of a man who lives on the mountain.

The Next Day

We woke up early and had some breakfast. We had to prepare for the plans we had today. I got up and started my morning by cutting some trees.

Kati went to the river to prepare water and then later she would handle the crops and plant new seeds which I would help after I finished the firewood.

Doing these things took many hours. We were busy all day but we tried to do everything in one day. We wanted to finish it in one day so we can have less work in the future so we can relax.

We are hardworking and lazy people. That is the way.

Night came and we had finished almost everything. Finding some fruit that is in the forest and plants that we can eat and use for other things for a little while. I bought my katana in case any animals decided to be funny.

Kati and I walked around the forest until I saw something in the distance.

Bodies.

"Kati! Where are you?"

"Over here!"

I heard her voice on the right side.

"Come here now! HURRY!"

I can't send her back to the house alone. Which animal caused this. A bear maybe. Maybe someone got careless against a boar or something else.

Kati arrived right next to me. I didn't want to check the bodies. I can't let Kati see such a dirty thing. I'll handle it later when she goes to sleep.

"We are going back."

"Huh? Why? We barely got anything."

"It doesn't matter. Let's go. We can get this stuff another time but not now."

Seeing my expression, "Alright." She starts to walk when she sees the same thing I see when she looks around.

"Bodies?"

I sigh, "Yes. It doesn't matter. They are dead."

"We should give the bodies to their families. It is the least we can do since we have found them. We can't just ignore them."

A hesitant look appeared on my face. Maybe the animal is still there but I should go and check who died.

"Okay but stay right next to me."

"I'm not weak you know. You have trained me in the way of the sword and I have learned some self-defense from my parents and a lot from you. I am not incapable of protecting myself." She pouts.

I smile. Woman. So troublesome.

We start to walk toward the bodies but are wary of our surroundings if an attack comes our way.

Looking at the bodies that were laying on the floor. There was blood. A lot. Looking at their faces, our faces distort into something ugly.

"No no no no-no-no. NOOOOO!" Kati held her head and fell down and then started to cry.

Our parents.

For me. I stayed silent. No tears. No word. No movement. My eyes didn't shy away from this bloody sight. I looked at every detail.

But while Kati's parents were dead and my mother was too, someone was missing

My father. His body isn't here. I know that he wouldn't go his separate ways with my mother.

I look around quickly and notice something in the distance. A person crouches a bit with their back bent a little forward. Seems like it was breathing heavily.

It took a step and then immediately started running towards us.

I reach for my katana and unsheathe it.

It is fast.

"Kati! Run! Now!" I scream

"W-what."

"Go to town and find your brother." I realize that while our family went back together, they must have separated. Maybe

She realizes something is wrong and then looks where I am looking.

I don't have much time.

"Go!"

Kati realizes it is not the time to argue and knows that she would be at a disadvantage due to the state she was in. She was grieving and emotional but not stupid.

She starts running.

2 seconds later. A fist reached me. I block it with my sword but I get pushed back due to the strength behind that punch.

I look at the thing in front of me.

Long black hair. Pale white skin with blood-red eyes. Teeth that look like shark teeth. He has ripped clothes with blood all over it. A person who looks like they have no sense of reasoning.

But, it is someone I recognized.

I stuttered, "D-dad. Heh, are you there?" The words that came out of my mouth were weak.

The person didn't answer. All it did was an attack. It attacked me again then I dodge and then swing and cut off its arms that reached out to me.

We stayed still for a few seconds but that was all I needed. A demon. Heh. Fucking fuck. This world is an ass.

I chuckled weakly but managed to look at my 'father'. He is not my father anymore.

I rush to the demon and swing my sword. The demon dodge and then kicked my face but I managed to dodge at a hair's length.

Too close.

Gawrr

The demon growled and attacked me and then we began our little clash. A little later, the demon's arms started to regenerate.

I ignored that and continued attacking. Our fight lasted not a while but not too soon. Wounds began to appear on my body and wounds began to regenerate on the demon.

The demon's arms swung over mine and then an opening appeared.

I felt something building up within me. The left side of my body began to burn and then the mark that was on the left side of my body began to grow to the left side of my face.

I clench my katana with both hands and swing it towards its neck.

On my katana, something glistened. Shined. Like a star. My stroke hit the demon's neck and then stopped on his neck. I tried to use all my strength to cut it but I barely managed to go in.

My katana began to shine even brighter and then my katana was finally sinking into his neck until I finally cut it off. (I know you need to have a Nichirin Sword to cut a demon's head off but the power of Tenshi is more mysterious than you can even think of. Maybe.)

The demon's head finally hit the ground and then I fell as my body felt paralyzed.

Tears start to well up in my eyes. My family is dead.

Once again.
