14 CHAPTER 13

The mere mention of his return left a sour taste in my mouth, my thoughts buzzing in so many directions as I tried to come to terms with the fact that this year might hold a lot more complications than I expected.

"When does he arrive?"

"Uhm, he already has. He arrived early this morning while you and Dean were in the main hall with Warrior Ramirez and the recruits. And from what I hear, he's already making his stance as the new Alpha of the Red team."

"By doing what?" I asked in irritation.

"He and his team have been locked up in one of the simulation rooms at Block B for the past 3hours, neither he nor the others have stepped out even for a little break."

Letting out a sigh, I run a hand through my still wet hair and grind my teeth. The harsh memories of what happened two years ago came back like a bulldozer and I resisted the urge to punch something in my growing anger.

I thought I had gotten over everything that happened back at the academy between the three of us, but obviously, I've only been deceiving herself.

I guess the saying... out of sight, out of mind does work.

"Wait a minute, did you say they're both branded the same number?" She nods and I feel my stomach roll with dread at the thought of the two of them being paired together, in six months the pairing ceremony will take place and since both of them are branded by the same number, there is a possibility of compatibility.

A sudden burst of jealous rage ignites in my stomach and I feel my claws begin to draw out, a deep growl reverberates deep in my throat as images of the both of them together filled my mind and caused my Lycan wolf to rage in anger. Just a second ago I thought about giving up, but now I'm charged with a competitive spirit.

Isn't it enough he already intervened once, why the hell does he have to ruin the second chance I've been given to make things right? I rage in my head and hear my growls grow louder, my body moving through the process of a shift.

I felt possessive even though we've long since separated, but even still I've always felt like she belonged to me just as I belong her. The thought of someone else coming in-between felt unnatural and completely infuriating.

A deep urge surged within me to find her and mark her as mine. Fuck, if I didn't know better, I'd think she's my spirit mate by the way I'm reacting.

"Alexander don't, don't think about anything for a second." Henrietta advised as she hurried off her feet and knelt before me, grasping my head between her hands I felt her Shamanic wolf reaching out to me and pushed her aside.

The thought of marking her appealed to me and my wolf more and more as I imagined the life we'll build together when I set things right.

Rising to my feet I start for my door but don't expect to get tackled from behind. Henrietta's mystical white wolf, a Lycanthropus Sapiens Magister grew to the surface as I tried to throw her off my back.

But suddenly, a calm feeling settled in my chest as she took away my anger and simply left behind bliss.

The erratic emotions I once felt slowly washed away and I felt like I could breathe easier, when she was sure I was calmer Henrietta got off my back with a long sigh leaving her lips.

Slowly rising to my knees, I turned to find her breathing heavily on her hands and knees, the strain of using her powers on me taking its toll on her body.

So, with a smile, I wrapped my arms around her and returned the kind gesture. Instead of taking away her weakness, I merely revived her with my powers.

As a mystical wolf serving as one of the moon goddesses spirit wolves, one of Henrietta's unique abilities is empathy. Other than just feeling what someone else's feels, she can also take them away.

She's been my rock through thick and thin, and I'll always be grateful for her presence in my life. "Thank you," I whispered, placing a kiss on her head as her muscles began to relax and her breathing lowered.

With a hand patting my shoulder, Kate returned my embrace and squeezed. "No thanks necessary, you know I'll always be here for you."
