2 Chapter 2

With their orders, the Demon Lord's generals each ventured out to their cities to begin their march towards the entrance to the empire.

Luckily for the Demon Lord, he had his minions build a massive wall that spanned many miles, making it much easier for his armies to defend his lands if an all out war were to ever occur.

There was currently no need to feel too big of a pressure while defending his lands, but deep down, the Demon Lord still had some doubts in his heart.

Tens of thousands of undead soldiers made their way towards the walls and started their preparations as the true forces of the empire made their way over as well.

Each general had undead dragon like creature they used as their mounts as they flew into the skies above their individual armies to rally them.

In this situation where the army only existed to do that of what the Demon Lord wanted, there was no reason to do this, other than showing their devotion to their emperor.

After making their speeches to their armies, the generals finally began leading them towards the walls. If they were to fall in their defensive front, the generals knew that the Demon Lord would still have enough time to retreat.

Though, the Demon Lord was easily one of the top experts of the continent, once faced against the others in the same realm of power, he could very well perish.

If it came to it, the Demon Lord would rather fight it out and take as many of those experts along with him. But, due to his demeanor now being that of a dark necromancer, his strategies and styles shifted accordingly.

This was what scared the other races while facing such an evil and powerful foe, because instead of just being a brute, the Demon Lord had very high intelligence.

With such a strong individual not only existing, but ruling over an entire empire of his own, there were simply no limits that could be placed onto him unless everyone else created an alliance.

Still, even if in theory, the alliance were able to defeat the Demon Lord's military and take his head, it would by no means come without many sacrifices.

The battle was drawing closer as more and more of the Continental Alliance's armies started to form and push forward towards the Demon Lord's lands.

The orcs whose empire was the closest to the Demon Lord's lands were forced to remove their barriers and such they had to protect themselves against invaders.

This made the council members of the orcs feel very weary, and so the humans decided to sweeten the deal to create this alliance by offering them the right to police the newly acquired lands once they have dealt with the Demon Lord.

Such a good offer forced the orc's council to reconsider as they gave into their greed and allowed their new friends to bring their armies into their lands without any stops.

Normally, it would take millions of warriors that came from different parts of the continent weeks in order to just compile their forces and to meet at such a destination.

However, because the humans made enough prior preparations with their dealings to create this alliance, they made sure that the last race to join, were actually the fastest on these lands.

In the span of only two days, every warrior who would take part in this conquering quest had arrived into the orc's lands as thousands of scouting parties were sent out to report on the Demon Lord's current defenses.

Every commander and general in the alliance knew that their biggest obstacle would be destroying the walls that protected the lands.

Therefore, the scouting parties were to get as close as possible to the walls to evaluate potential weak points. Even if it would be considered a waste of time, the alliance still needed to do this before declaring an all out attack.

As the orcs and humans sent out scouting parties, the remaining races were in charge of coming up with a strategy to take down the walls.

With over one hundred commanders present, it would be difficult to get anything done correctly, and so each race decided to first come up with a strategy themselves and would elect a speaker to present their strategy to other races.

This way, the planning could be done much smoother, and everyone would feel that they contributed an equal amount to this campaign even before any battles began.

The races each picked a lead general and the lead generals together met to go over their battle strategy. It took only a single night for them to come to an agreement which was completely unexpected by the Demon Lord.

That being said, the Demon Lord still was content because his generals had finally made their way onto the walls and were ready for battle even if it started during the night.

As the scouts approached the walls during the night, the undead fired arrows and low leveled elemental attacks towards them.

Seeing that the undead were already prepared for combat and that the walls blended in almost too well with the darkness of the night, the scouts retreated back to their headquarters to report their findings.

This was dire news that the alliance heard from their scouts, but nonetheless, they had to change their strategy slightly since they were now unable to launch a true surprise attack.

In retrospect, they could use some of their aerial units to try a sneak attack from the sky, but with the undead in battle ready positions, it would be equivalent to sending said units to their deaths.
