1 Meeting God?

Alex was a dreamer, he always had his head in the clouds if it wasn't stuck in some book/e-novel.

He was not a social person if he could help it, to put it simply, a straight up shut-in! He had a bad habit of imagining himself in the worlds he read about or seen in anime, this wouldn't be a terrible thing if he only did it at home.

But no, driving back home from work with his head in the clouds, Its no wonder he didn't notice the 'BRIDGE OUT' sign until it was too late.

As Alex was drifting through the void, he was quietly contemplating his death.

He knew he was at fault so he wasn't going to complain to the void about how unfair life is.

He was however curious as to why he had no memories of the pain he was sure he should have felt from the impact.

He remembers the whole event vividly!

Clear up to the point he watch his windshield come rushing into his face.

It eventually occurred to him that he should stop dwelling on the crash and start asking the really important questions.

Like: 'WHERE THE HELL AM I?' and 'WHY THE HELL DO I STILL HAVE MY MEMORIES AFTER DEATH?

That last one in particular was worrisome.

'I mean, don't memories get stored in the brain? I know for a fact I don't have one of those anymore, I'm completely see through, and just a silhouette of a man' he thought, starting to panic a little.

After what felt like many hours based solely off the many, many stupid questions he asked himself, something finally happened.

A bright light appear only about a foot away from his face, he probably would have been blinded if he'd had eyes, but instead he just let out a reflexive "what the FUCK!!" as loud as he could.

"What's this!" a somewhat surprised voice echoed out of the light.

"How did a soul get into the void? And how has it not dissipated?" the voice mumbled softly to itself.

After his initial surprise at meeting something sentient Alex finally mustered the courage to speak.

"Hello! Do you perhaps know where I am".

'What the hell you idiot! Why did you ask that?! It just said the void! Now you're gonna look like an idiot for asking an obvious question!!' he screamed to himself.

As Alex was berating himself internally the light just sat there silently as if in amusement.

A soft chuckle was heard next as the light spoke again, mirth obvious in its tone.

"Not that your internal struggle is not amusing but if you want to have a Q&A session please step into the light so we can meet properly, the void isn't a place even beings of my power should stay long".

Having nothing to loose, Alex slowly entered the light.

What he saw shocked him greatly! Everything was so... boring?

Not really knowing what to expect from a "gods" place of work, he was very disappointed to see a plain desk in an office that didn't even have a view!

"Yes I know its pretty standard, but I really don't know why you're surprised. The job governing over souls going to reincarnation isn't very exciting and there are many Gods working here, can't all have a fancy office".

The god spoke, breaking Alex from his thoughts.

His appearance wasn't anything spectacular, just an average 30 something year old man that had a very "9-5 office worker" vibe going on with a very forgettable face.

"Now! To the heart of the matter. Since it was most likely a screw up on our side that caused you to end up in the void and almost caused you a 'true death'. I have been authorized to allow you to keep your memories of your previous life, to aid you in your next. As an added bonus you'll even get to pick what kind of world you go to. Your choices being Medieval, Futuristic or even a sword and sorcery world with magic any everything!"

He said without giving Alex a chance to interrupt.

"Uhh..." Alex stared dumbly as he was processing the info dump.

"Can I go to an anime world"? He asked after a couple minutes.

"Yes and no" the god replied after some thought. "Those worlds don't actually exist in the multi-verse, they are simply works of fiction" he continued.

"If its not possible why did you say yes first?" Alex asked quickly, somewhat let down.

"If you are willing to sign a contract, to voluntarily remove yourself from the cycle of reincarnation I can set a world like that up for you." God replied.

"You would create a world just for me!" Alex yelled in excitement. "But wait, what's the catch?" He said reining in his excitement.

"The world still will not be real as far as the multi-verse is concerned, you can think of it as a dream scape. The contract will allow your soul to go into stasis, to make this all possible. The downside being, that if you die in this new world, you will be removed from the cycle." Says God, not hiding anything.

"That's Fine! To be able to live ones dream even at the cost of "true Death" is more than worth it." Alex says without hesitation "show me the contract!"

"Haha what an amusing lad" god mused as he grabbed some paper. "Sign on the dotted line and lets get you into your new world!"

After signing the contract (without reading it of course) Alex quickly went into full on excited mode. "I'd like to be sent the world of Fairy Tail!"

"Hahaha! Calm down child, one thing at a time." god says while taking the paper.

"I'll have it set up shortly, before I do that though, is there anything you would like to aid you in your adventure? Special powers/magics or a System?"

"Wait! I get to choose?" Alex asks.

"Of course! Its your adventure in a fictional world, might as well make the most of it." God replies in good humor.

"Awesome" Alex says with a thinking pose. "

"Alright, I've decided. Id like my main magic to be 'fire demon slayer' magic. I'd also like a customizable transformation skill, an inventory, rapid regeneration skill and a stealth skill."

"You don't want a system with a store or anything like that?" God asked.

"No, I feel like it'd be cool for a little while, but I also feel like its something that I would end up relying on to solve all my problems. Would kind of defeat the purpose of the entire adventure". Alex replied.

He had read too many Fan-Fics that have a system, 'They either try to kill you through a quest function or make you so strong within the first year that even millennia old Deities can't stand against you. Ruins the entire point'.

"Okay!" Alex was pulled out of his thoughts when the god started talking again.

"For your transformation skill, do you have something in mind or going full custom?"

"I'd Like it to be like the Demon Hunter Metamorphosis from WOW, using Illidan as the template." Alex replied.

"Would you like the weapons (war glaives) included in the transformation?" God asks with a smile on his face, it was not every day he got to send someone to a fictional world, the features and things he could add or change were literally limitless.

"Would it be possible to just get a pair in my inventory? Id like to be able to practice and use them without having to transform". Alex Said after some thought.

"Shouldn't be an issue at all" God replies Happily.

"Was that it for the powers and customization?" he asked as a follow up.

"Can you make my Flames the Green Fel-fire?" Alex asked curiously.

"Sure, but use them with caution. Its some crazy shit, Fel-fire burns quite a bit hotter than even the so called "God-Slayer" fire. I will however remove the corrupted aspect from the Fel side of it, would kind of suck to accidentally "deform" one of your future friends during a friendly spar". God replied with seriousness in his voice.

"There, you're all set up. I even threw in a status screen so you can monitor your progress. It has no AI and wont do anything but show your own progress. I also gave you the Mana Manipulation skill as a way to use everyday magics and help with controlling the Ethernano, should help with training". God said after some rapid typing on his computer.

Mana manipulation was a very common skill in any of the multi-verse worlds with magic, he had added it on a whim as a bonus.

"Sweet! that should be very helpful, Thank you!" Alex said in a cheerful voice, he wasn't about to turn down free stuff.

He wasn't super excited about the status, but let it be as it had no functions.

"Oh Right! What part of the storyline would you like to start at, and what age do you want to be?" God said as if just remembering.

"Id like to be sent a year before the main story as a 18 year old." Alex replied after a moment of thought.

He didn't want to start younger as he felt it would be a pain in the ass to have to 'grow-up' all over again.

"Very well. I hope you have many wonderful adventures in your new world!" As God said this, Alex's view slowly faded to black.

As God watched the young man disappear he couldn't help but mutter "Willing to leave the cycle of reincarnation, just to live a dream? Truly an interesting young soul".
