14 A Guild for One

"U-uh.. Umm, Hi" the little blue haired girl called out. It was clear as glass to Alex that she was shy and wasn't expecting a guest to be with her master.

"There is no need to be shy child, use your words" the white cat in her arms spoke up.

"I am sorry!" the girl called out quickly.

"You don't have to apologize, just use proper words" the cat replied back, almost sounding exasperated.

"Well, If it isn't Wendy and Carla" Roubaul said, bringing them out of their banter. "How did your mission go, nabura?" he followed up.

"It went very well master, we completed it in record time!" the little girl called out in excitement.

The excitement lasted until her eyes landed on Alex again and she shyly asked "M-Master, who is your guest?".

"OH! Where are my manners? Nabura. This is Alexander, a fire Wizard seeking something in the great forest." he said gesturing to Alex.

"These 2 are promising up and coming wizards of my guild, Wendy and Carla. Wendy here is a Sky Dragon Slayer Wizard" he said pointing to the blue haired girl.

"And Carla there is her partner, nabura" Gesturing to the small white cat he continued. "She is an Exceed, a type of magical creature" He said, introducing the three.

"Um, its very nice to meet you. We don't get many outsider guests" Wendy said with her signature smile and shy demeaner.

"Hmph!" the little white cat snorted before closing her eyes and turning away from the group.

"Carla" Wendy called to the little kitty. "you're being rude to the masters guest". She said before Alex could even reply to her greeting.

"Hahaha It is no problem" Alex laughed off her haughty attitude. "It is very nice to meet you too, Wendy" Alex said.

"And even you little miss kitty" Alex smirked at what he thought would come next.

"MY NAME IS CARLA!" the little cat yelled out.

Chuckling again to himself, Alex ignored her, two could play that game.

"I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it Carla, but you did start it" Wendy said to the exceed.

"Hmph" was all she got as a reply.

Turning back to the Roubaul, Alex thanked him for his assistance before bidding farewell to the three.

He was about to leave the building when the guild master called for him to wait a bit, he then told Wendy and Carla to leave the guildhall and get some rest, he needed to talk to Alex privately.

"I have a favour to ask you before you leave, nabura" Roubaul started, as if unsure of how to ask his favour.

"Does it have anything to do with the fact that you and all your guild members aside from those two are illusions?" Alex asked, not beating around the bush and already assuming what he wanted to ask.

Roubaul looked up at Alex with shock and alarm written all over his face.

"How did you know that?!" he asked, so surprised he didn't even say "nabura".

"I have known since before I got here" Alex said, dropping a bomb on the old Spirit.

"How though?" Roubaul asked, still clearly confused.

He was very confident in his ability with illusions and even using the spirits of his deceased tribesmen it should be foolproof.

"You did a very good job, even going so far as to create an individual magical "scent" so to speak.

But they all have the same "physical" scent, everyone should be different.

Most people wouldn't notice this, but I am a Slayer type wizard and very sensitive to such things" Alex said, answering his questions.

"When I noticed this discrepancy I looked further into their magical signature with mana-sight.

Seeing you all connected together with you as the lynch-pin it all made sense" he followed up.

"You are very skilled, nabura. To be able to notice such minor details, nabura, and even come to that conclusion. I am impressed, nabura, its also a little terrifying" Roubaul praised before shaking his head.

"My favour, nabura. Is, if you should succeed in destroying Nirvana, would you take Wendy and Carla with you?" Roubaul asked, he had a look on his face letting Alex know he was dead serious.

"Should Nirvana be destroyed, the Nirvit people will finally be able to pass on, nabura.

We have stood watch over our creation all this time, nabura, it is the only thing keeping our spirits in the plane of the living. Nabura" he continued.

"I am not really sure I would be suitable to watch over the child, but I will honor you wish" Alex replied with as much conviction as he could muster.

"Thank you. With your bizarre magic I know she will at least be safe from anything in the forest, nabura." Roubaul said with a light hearted chuckle and a sad smile.

"Rest assured, I will do what I can to protect her until I can find a place she will be happy and can truly call home" Alex replied with a smile of his own.

"Thank You, nabura" the old man said with a genuine smile this time.

Upon leaving the guildhall and waving goodbye to the villagers (ghosts), he spread his wings and jumped into the air.

They had offered for him to spend the night but he declined.

He didn't need light to fly and already accomplished what he wanted to do here.

Making good time back to his camp he reached there before dawn.

Deciding he should get a good rest before he went on a flame filled rampage through an abandoned city.

He crawled into his bunk and fell asleep, a sea of green flames dancing in his dreams.

Waking up the next day and completing his routine, he was getting excited.

He always thought it would be cool to see the city on Nirvana.

Even if it was in ruins now, he would still love the opportunity to explore it.

Packing up his entire camp because he knew he wouldn't be coming back here, he set out towards the tree he had marked.

Having a destination and not just searching every tree, he made good time back to the marked location.

This time, when he analyzed the magical formation hiding Nirvana he knew what to expect so he was able to tune out most of the magics and go straight to the one he required.

'Having the proper tools and knowledge sure makes shit easier' he thought with a smile.

Making short work of the formation hiding Nirvanas controller, he watched as the tree magically faded into particles of light and disappear.

Looking at the platform that was located where the tree was, he couldn't help but smile as he studied the runes and magic circles carved into it.

Looking over all the runes, he quickly located the control runes that would allow him to use nirvana without activating its primary function (stage 1).

"I wish I would have had more time to learn more runes/enchanting from the old man" Alex thought as he studied the control rune, function rune and the secondary function rune.

They were the only ones he needed to achieve his goal, so they were the only ones Roubaul showed him.

He wasn't about to start testing runes he didn't know on a weapon as powerful as nirvana, so he just copied them for testing later.

He figured it would be good knowledge to be able to reference when he started learning enchanting.

The control rune did just what it sounded like it would do, it was basically a magical switch.

It connected the power supply to the Function runes and could be given simple commands like "only run for XX amount of time" or "terminate power under XX conditions".

The function and secondary function runes are where it got complicated, depending on the size and the complexity of the runes you could make them do almost anything.

It was almost literally a magic circle in a permanent form that anyone with mana could use.

Runes were a downgraded form of enchanting usually only used on inanimate objects that would be used by mages, they were also used if you wanted the object to last the test of time.

He had learned that true enchanting was another form of magic, mostly used to enhance your own abilities.

Depending on your mastery of this magic and your mana pool you could also use it to do some amazing or nefarious things.

(A/N. Some examples of users of this magic are, All Dragons, Irene Belserion, Zeref Dragneel, Erza Scarlet and Wendy Marvel. Zeref and Irene are obviously on another level, but based on what these people can do, you get the point. 'Dragon Slayer' magic was also created through the 'Enchantment' process.)

After reviewing the runes and going over what he knew about enchanting in this world from either the story or Roubaul, it ignited the fire to learn enchanting all the more.

Then a thought crossed his mind 'I wonder if I could just use {Mana Manipulation} to create Items and enchant them at the same time'.

His eyes went wide at the possibilities, {Mana Manipulation} was already completely broken in a world where everything was made out of Ethernano.

'I wonder if God knew about how broken this would be beforehand, or if it just slipped his mind because this is a fictitious world?' Alex thought.

He would have to test this, but if it was true he would essentially have access to an endless supply of Jewel from equipment he could make.

Thoughts of magical weapons and having the most 'high tech' cave in this world (Even Batman would be jealous) flashed through his mind as he activated Nirvana and had it extricate itself from the earth.
