4 The Adventure

I was awoken in the Observation Tower by a bucket of cold water being thrown on my head.

I haven't heard much from Paschar or Yama apart from the hourly report and the annoying arguments between them.

My training involved cleaning up and Sword training but not much magic training. The wizard said his name was Merlin and that Merlin was a common name for wizards.

Before I knew it three days had passed and Merlin had changed the training from cleaning to magic learning.

The first thing he taught me was how to use magic correctly, you DON'T need to chant the spell's name which was useful to know, you just have to think about the spell "and so it shall happen" in Merlin's words. The first spell I learnt was Sword enhancement. It enhanced the sharpness and speed of the sword. When I was learning magic with Merlin was the only time I had to look at the black and white magic book, for I had to wait for my mana to recharge. The more I practised the longer I could practise.

Four days had passed and Merlin had taught me everything he could. I thanked him and went back to the blacksmith. He said it would cost "three gold coins and two silver coins for the sword plus scabbard, no questions asked."

I gave him the amount he wanted and asked him where the guild was. He pointed me in the right direction of it and went back to work. I went to it and registered, the guild wasn't strict about rank for at the right price you could be the highest rank there, which meant better missions and better money. The easiest mission for low rankers was slaying the goblins in the forest which were causing trouble.

First I had to find the goblins via roads leading through forest. Now we were out of the castle Yama and Paschar were more interested in chatting with me, mostly small talk like my interests. We travelled on most of the forest paths but we had no luck finding any goblins. We set up camp in the forest next to a path the goblins would probably attack.

"What do you despise the most?" asked Yama.

"Humans, without a doubt" was my answer.

"That is not surprising judging what happened in your past," said Paschar.

"New subject, how did I die?"

"Sorry but that is classified information" said Paschar.

"Oh, okay then."

I went to bed after that, thinking about recent events.
