Chapter 1 - Love, Evol

——-Tang City, 2012

Darwin wakes himself up during the middle of the night, covers in sweats. Stress fills up his eye. Looks like he hasn't had a good night's sleep in a long time.

Darwin holds up a thin black notebook; after her sister's event, he has never left the notebook on the side, he always keeps his eye on the notebook.

The notebook is like his sister. He looks up at the empty room, feeling suffocated.

Darwin walked out to the balcony. With his bloodshot eyes, overlooking the city. The world seems colorless and cold, with no love or hope.

He then gazes down onto the notebook, though his mind flew somewhere happiness still exists.

It was in Darwin's house, backyard, it is a garden. It's filled with plants. His parent loves plants, especially flowers.

" Darwin! Get me that butterfly! " A little girl with a big smile on her face, chasing after a butterfly.

" How many times I have to tell you, Ann! Don't call my name like this! I'm older than you! " Right after the little girl, there was a little boy, cover in sweats, running slowly but keeps a consistent distance between the little girl. He doesn't seem to enjoy the run very much.

Suddenly, the memory stops.

His heart filled with regrets. He regrets the fact he didn't enjoy the moment he has with Ann.

After the incident with his sister. He went crazy; looking for books that can translate the meaning of the notebook to find a way to rescue his sister.

It is like that notebook is the god of misfortune; after his sister got pulled into the notebook, everything around him goes bad.

He went back to the antique store where he bought the notebook. He tried to find ones that are similar to the notebook; spend all his parents' heritage to search for knowledge to rescue his sister. Not too long before he starts to realize that his parents' possessions are disappearing.

He panicked! He then starts to ask his relatives for help.

Hoping someone can give him a place to stay, a meal for him to eat.

As the old saying: "Fakes will reveal when doom arrives."

The relatives that use to mooch off his parent are starting to reveal their true faces. Bunch of devils, fakes, monsters. When they know Darwin is in harsh conditions, they didn't hesitate to insult him even more. Rejecting his beg, steal whatever that is left.

It's hard for a little boy. At his age, he should have the right to enjoy happiness, he should be going to school, play with kids that are the same age as him. Instead, he has to suffer; it is not easy for him, but he made it through.

Maybe the god that people believe in couldn't stand the pain he is suffering; He, then, fortunately, found a dictionary that was published the same time period as the notebook. This could be the key to set free her sister. But he couldn't have it because he doesn't have anything that is valuable enough to exchange.

Therefore, he returns to one of his relatives to accept a demonic offer.

He became a slave.

He worked 23 hours a day, was only allowed to sleep when he is sick. Only 1 meal a day; no proper shelter to stay in.

It is hell for him. Surprisingly, he did not give up; he was able to get his hand on a dictionary.

But the price was huge. The relative that slaved him was a doctor that study neurology; he wanted to do an experiment on a human being to prove his theory, and Darwin was a perfect test subject.

During the experiment, Darwin lost his sense of touch, that means he will never able to feel anything through touching.

No pain, no feel.

However, all the hard work pays off, he finally understands the language in the notebook.

The notebook was an ancient technology supposedly invented by a scientist that studies artificial intelligence. This scientist claimed that this notebook was a piece of technology that is a life form that has higher intelligence than humans and was able to react to a human's daily basic needs. The only fuel it operates on is human desires.

Unfortunately, as time goes by, as an old society corrupts, new ones rise, more and more new technologies were developed; the old technology then abandoned by the human.

" Desire is what makes human, human. It is the feeling of all feelings. It is the reason for all actions. It is the key for all locks. "

Darwin didn't think twice to accept the 'User Agreement' and become its servant, in return… free his sister.

Due to the damage that Darwin suffered, his 'Desire' was below the notebook's required amount. Therefore, he needs more 'Desire' from people. He became 'Kami'. A name Darwin invented for himself; to describe a person who collect's other people's 'Desires' by granting them wishes.

The notebook needs 'Desire' to work, so it drains Darwin's every emotion that he has within him.

He then slowly became heartless, he became emotionless.

" What a day! " A nice-looking young man who has a pair of blue eyes, blond hair. To top it off, and he has an elegant taste in clothing,

His eyesight elevates from the street to a neon sign. It is a bar where people go for fun after a long exhausting day.

Levi likes sex more than anything, he considers it as a full meal. Starting from a nice appetizer, then the main course, then a satisfying dessert.

His first encounter with sex was in high school. One time he goes to parties and accidentally meets a woman that introduced him to the pleasure of sex. He then couldn't resist the urge to continue meeting new women.

As times go by, his body starts to get worse and worse. Doctors tell him to stop such absurd action.

He didn't listen, he is like a drug addict that can't give up drugs.

He is no different than other ordinary people, he works, he socializes; but once he is not doing such, he will go and meet new women to have sex. He is not an evil guy that forces women to do what he wants. He has his way with women, He would start off with a gentle tone, then continues with delightful conversations to follow up on the mood.

A typical French gentleman.

Tonight is Friday, which means no work for him tomorrow; so he can relax and not worry about being late to work tomorrow.

He arrives at his favorite bar in the Loire Valley. It's named 'Love, evoL', a weird name. Sounded like love-evil.

"What an irony!" Levi sometime thinks to himself.

He went straight to the bar counter. Got himself a drink, 'Sex on the Beach', then proceed to enjoy the night.

He casually glanced at his 4 O'clock direction.

He then saw a beautiful woman. There are no words that can describe the beauty of this woman, he can't help but fantasize about what he will do with this beautiful young lady…

Just as he is thinking about how can he approach her.

He then panicked!

How can he! He lost all his confidence, he lost his pride as an elegant French man, he has never been so upset, so disappointed at himself, his body.

However, out of his instinct, and the urge inside him. He stood up and walk toward the women.
