2 Chapter 1

Beep! Beep! Beep! I groaned as I heard the sound of my alarm ring. Beep! Beep! Beep! I hit my alarm in the annoyance of its ringing. I sat up, knowing that I looked a mess, as always, but I didn't really care. Today's another day without her, I thought. It's been officially ten years since she's died. I sighed as I felt heavyweight in my chest that hurt so much.

"Aki, rise and shine!" my friend Naki exclaimed as she came into my room.

"There was no point in doing that, I'm already awake," I said as I rolled my eyes.

"Not completely since you're grumpy. Get ready, we're going to be late, and it's the first day that we're going into the academy."

"Okay."

She went back to her room to put her uniform on, and I stood up to go to the bathroom. I was still tired, I spent most of the night crying and thinking about my mom. I wish I could've gotten more sleep last night. Today is the day, apparently. I put toothpaste on my toothbrush and started to brush my teeth.

When I was done, I got my uniform on and looked at myself in the mirror. I had most of my mom's features. I had her blonde hair, her nose, her ears, almost everything. You could say that we were practically twins. I only had one feature from my father, which was his red eyes. Well, one of them. I had his red eye in my right eye, and my mom's green eye in my left eye. Ever since I've been in the human realm, I've hidden my red eye with my bangs. My situation would be very bad if anyone knew that I was a half-demon child, let alone the half-demon child of the Demon King, which obviously was my father.

There was a knock at the door. "Aki, are you ready?" Naki's mom asked.

"No, I'm almost, though. Could you bring Naki in here?" I asked.

"Naki!" Her mom shouted. "Akira wants you."

A few seconds later, Naki came into my room. She looked at me with a dissatisfied look.

"What?" I said.

"Your hair looks a mess," she responded.

"Naki, we're not going to have time to fix it."

"Oh well, I'm fixing it." She grabbed my chair from my desk and put it in front of my mirror. "Sit."

I groaned and sat in the chair. I knew I looked a mess, but I didn't care. I never care. She brushed my hair gently, and when it was no longer tangled, she started to put my hair into braids. When Naki was done, she asked me how it looks.

"It looks fine, I guess," I responded.

"Whatever, at least you look decent now." She looked at her watch. "Seems like we're not going to make it to the bus stop, so Mom can take us."

Naki asked her mom if she could drop us off at the academy, and of course, she said yes. I didn't say anything the whole ride there. It was a fifteen-minute long ride there, and after that time had passed, we were there.

The academy we were going to was called Northlight Academy. This was an academy to train the soldiers in the war against the demons of the Demon Realm, where I came from. I'm not incognito to surprise attack humans, but, of course, but to get revenge on my father, and help them defeat his demon army.

"Alright girls, have a nice first day!" Naki's mom said as she drove away. Today is the day.

There were some familiar faces from the middle school that Naki and I went to, including Hide Herance, who was the son of the General Herance, and the guy I've had a crush on since I was twelve. He was at a table, signing in the freshmen who were coming into the school.

I stared at Hide in awe. He looked so good in his uniform. He looked determined and fierce. I can't believe we're at the same school, I thought.

Naki nudged me. I came back down to earth as she said, "Aki, you're next in line."

I blushed so hard. Don't freak out, don't freak out, Hide will think you're a weirdo. I took a few deep breaths and stepped in front of him.

Hide looked up at me with his beautiful ocean eyes and said, "Name?"

"Akira Diane." He checked my name and told me to go. I waited for Naki, as he checked her in, and when she caught up to me, I smiled. "Naki, hIdE TAlKeD tO mE."

"Girl, calm down, the guy doesn't even know you."

"I know but still," I said. "Naki, you don't understand, he's so perfect."

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it. Anyway, let's go to class."

Thankfully, Naki and I were in the same class, which was upstairs in D206.  The Northlight Academy is really big, and they get thousands of students each year. The school is four stories high, and D206 is at the very top.

"We have to walk up so many stairs," I whined. "I wish I could use my wings," I whispered because I knew there were cameras in the halls we were walking in.

"This school is really big, where are the stairs? It's like we're walking in circles."

After five minutes, we both gave up. We were lost. We sat in the hallway and just hanged there.

Then, I heard a familiar voice.

"Ladies, what are you doing? Are you lost?"

This can't be real.
