Soland

Introduction:

In a somewhat parallel earth the plot takes place in the country of 'Soland'

Soland the 10th largest country in the world by landmass is, it is virtually an island except for the 100 km long strip of land connecting to the southern part of the oil rich peninsular.

Soland is not oil producing nation but it does make up with its vegetation and drinkable water/mineral rich resources.

Because of its strategic location in connecting Asia and Africa it has long been a stopover for various explorers.

With travel also comes immigration and refugees.

In fact Soland was once colonized by the servants of Her Majesty.

And the people of Soland united and drove away their oppressors

And from that point onwards the country has been a stable Democratic nation

It a Parliamentary, nation which has 24 states and 3 federal territories administered by the Federal Govt

The citizens vote for their candidates to the Lower house, and the candidates elect the Prime Minister to head the Govt

The upper house aka the Senate is a more complex issue (explained later)

The country has a President who for all intents and purpose is the head of the country. His assent is required for all bills to be accepted into a law.

The same system applies to state elections.

Citizens vote for their candidate to the states lower house, where the candidates elect the States Prime Minister (SPM)

(The State Senate will be discussed later)

The State Govt is headed by the SPM but for all purpose the state is represent by the State Governor who is selected by the Federal Govt

The three federal jurisdiction

· Gondwa: The capital city of Soland, named after the supercontinent Gondwanaland

· Periphery islands: all the islands that are part of the country are administered by the federal Govt

· Mammoth's tusk: The 100km stretch of land that connects Soland with the rest of Asia.

In ancient times Mammoth's tusk was a land feared by the citizens of Soland, as beyond that lied the unending desert filled with tribal people who would regularly raid down south for the bounty of nature.

The land was called was known as stairway to Heaven

As such, the strip of land was hotly contested and the last war in the 1970s was won by Soland and peace was restored.
