1 Chapter 1: Wait... What?! I'm dead and Reincarnated as deity of Death?!

"Betty? Aren't you going home?"

"Y-yeah, I need to finish this, Mike." I said without looking back at him, I was so busy doing this working stuff on my laptop.

"…Is that so? Then…I'll head first now." His voice was down; I heard his footsteps leaving the office and closing the door.

Sorry for late introduction, I'm Betty Jane, a 25 years old girl who doesn't have any single boyfriend since my childhood and living alone at the apartment I rent. I was a lone girl who doesn't have many friends.

I don't really how dealt with people and keeping a conversation to them…just like what happened a moment ago.

Well, if you ask me how's my life every day. It's good, nothing new about it. Waking up, eating, office, home, sleep and that's how my life running every day. You can say that I'm a boring person and I won't complain about that.

Sometime, I'm wishing to be reincarnated to be some magical girl which that was not really going to happen, Ahaha. And also wished that I have some friends, who can keep up with a good conversation and experiencing to be fall in love to a handsome guy. But back on my childhood days, I was a nerd or a bookworm person.

And yeah…I get bullied usually back then because I'm a nerd, but when I reach my high school I wasn't being bullied since that day. I don't know why but the boys on my campus starting to act weird towards to me. They all do lovey-dovey stuff to me, and I always getting flooded by love letter every valentines.

But I didn't fall in love to a single boy back then and I don't know why; well I'm a nerd after all. Study and school was the matter to me. So that's my short story! Now let's get back to the present time.

After a few hours doing that work, I finally finished it. I stretch out my both arms and yawned while walking on the side road. "Thank goodness I finished it on time." I muttered as I walk on the sidewalk.

And when I reach the pedestrian crossing, I just walk to get crossed to the other side. My head is so drowsy and my sight was kinda blurry.

"…H-hey you…" a voice spoke up right beside me as I crossed, but I didn't bother to take a glance at him and just continued walking on the pedestrian.

Then a loud horn of vehicles started to entered to my left ear, and I as I glance to my side; a blindly light was heading towards to me at a great speed.

A strong impact I felt as the light hits me and everything went black for a seconds, and as I opened my eyes again, a blood and a group of people's foot standing a few meters away from me. They were all in tense and shouting and I can't feel my whole body.

I want to scream but no words came out from my mouth. My sight is getting blurry and darker, what's going on? Then I saw a foot of someone near to my sight, but it was not like the others at the back, it was glowing.

I tried to look up who was that but before I saw her hips, everything went black…

I slowly opened my eyes again and I found myself sitting on the wooden chair. I look around my surroundings and I was surrounded by a hollow and an elegant chair in front of me.

"…Betty Jane…" a beautiful voice said at my back. I tried to look at my back nobody was there. I was creep-out after that. Then I gaze back on the chair but a thin index finger was the bump into my nose. I looked at her; she has a beautiful facial features and a long silver-hair.

I was stunned for a moment as I saw her, then she laugh as she gently pinch the tip of my nose and walk through the elegant chair and sits there. "…Betty, Betty, Betty…" she said as she looked at the thick book with a color red of its book cover. "…Ah there is it…" she said and looked at me.

I was still quite stunned on her looks and I don't know what's really going on here.

Then she placed red book on the small desk right beside her and looked at me straight.

"…do you want to be reincarnated?" she asks me straightly.

"…W-wait wh-what?"

"…Haaa… I said do you want to be reincarnated?"

"…R-reincarnated?"

"Yes. You know, reviving stuff with your old memories still in your head." She said and yawned, "…Just like on anime on the Earth."

"…wait? You mean those animated stuff? Wait, wait… if you ask me like that, then I'm…" I kind of astonished as I remembered a short scene inside my head. "…dead?"

"…Precisely." She said and stood up and approached me. "…So will you accept it?" she whispered as she takes a close to my ears.

"…w-what if I decline?"

"…you'll be sent on heaven." She said and move around me. "…but to be honest, being sent on the heaven isn't very pleasing at all. I'm telling you that." She said and goes back to her seat.

"…it was a very boring realm where all you need to do is to sit on a fluffy cloud and do nothing but to stare on endless sky."

"…h-how did you know about that?! A-and who are you?!"

"…oh, sorry for late introduction…" she said and bowed her head, "…I'm Hel, Goddess of Life and Death, I guide souls of human from earth. I make them a choices; it's either send them to heaven or send them to another world and live a new life there."

"…I-is that true?"

"…why? Do you suspect me to lie on a mere human like you?" she asks with furrowed eyebrows.

"…e-err no." I replied, "…then let me reincarnated instead. If you say that heaven is too damn boring, then send me to another world." I said.

I saw her wide grin so suddenly but then it disappeared and a beautiful smile can be seen on her face as she stood up. "…Very well. I'll send you to another world where you can enjoy your another life." She said and a magic circle starts appearing underneath of my feet.

"…I, Hel, Goddess of Life and Death, will humbly reincarnated Betty Jane as a server under me and be a Deity of Death!" She said and I started to float on the mid-air making me more surprise.

"…H-hold up! W-what do you mean on D-Deity of Death?!"

She smiled at me and claps her hands three times making a big scythe appeared and floats on the mid-air too. "…You'll be serving under by me, Betty. I'll reincarnate you as my dear, Deity of Death or well known as Grim Reaper." She said and a wide grin of her can be seen.

"…B-but! W-why me?! I JUST WANT TO LIVE NORMAL ON ANOTHER WORLD!" I exclaimed but she laughs very hard.

"…Oh dear, I almost forgot to tell you that if you're going to be reincarnated on another world, you'll have to do something very important there. Just like defeating the Demon Lord of that world." She said with a smile on her face.

"WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!"

"…but in your case, you'll be doing two jobs there." She said as she shows her index and middle finger on her left hand, "…and that is, to hunt a human souls and any other creature souls who died and use them as your power and the other is your own choice, it's either be a good or bad Grim."

"…W-WHAT?! I-IF I'M GOING TO BE A GRIM REAPER, THEN I SHOULD NOT INTERFERE ON ANY LIVING CREATURE BECAUSE MY JOB IS TO GUIDE HUMAN SOULS WHO DIED ON ANY NATURAL CAUSES OR WHATEVER!"

But then I saw her shrug her shoulder wearing a smug on her face, "…I change those traditional works of a Grim Reaper for this mission." She said.

"…T-then, I don't want this offer anymore! Just send me to heaven! I don't want that job!"

"…it's too late to say that. We already have an agreement besides; you're not a human anymore."

I was surprised on what she replied to me, "…oh by the way, you'll be not called Betty Jane anymore, starting from now on, I'll name you as Demise, the Grim Reaper." She said that and I feel my whole body change. "…Good luck, my servant." She said and everything went black.
