35 Something off

It's another day already. I don't realise it until I try to open my eyes to the blinding sunlight paving its way through the windows.

My heavy eyelids, unmoving limbs and hazy mind aren't permitting me to get up, to greet the new day with bright spirits.

There's something off about this day, this morning. I neither feel happy nor sad, I neither feel lost nor full of spirits. I feel empty, emotionless and groggy.

As I try to get into the sitting position, I feel something holding me back. More like, someone holding me back. A hand, fingers caressing my hair with love, affection and utmost care.

I know who this is, a soul who can never abandon you. A soul who gives you life and is there to hold you whenever you fall. A mother. My mother.

Slowly, trying not to wake her up, I remove her hand from my hair and sit upright on my bed, only to get shocked by the condition my room is in. A mess, as if some calamity has occurred last night which destroyed everything.
