15 Chapter 15

Evangeline's P.O.V

As I proceeded inside the expensive and posh looking restaurant, I couldn't help but feel underdress as everyone around me was wearing suits and dresses, while I was just wearing a knee-length simple floral dress.

Despite belonging from a well off family, I wasn't a fan of going to this type of five-star restaurants, I prefer going to simple places where I can feel comfortable without having anyone throwing nasty and judgemental stares at me.

Reaching the reception, I told the receptionist Abram's name and watched her eyes go wide as she led me into a more exclusive and private area where Abram was already seated tapping on his phone.

My feet took me towards him, as I kept my eyes cast down as he got up from his seat and pulled the chair for me.

"Hey" I whispered as I sat down, feeling my cheeks heat up from his intense stare.

"He..." He spoke out but was soon cut off by the over ecstatic waiter asking us what we would be having for a drink.

I told the waiter my drink while Abram was silent clenching his jaw tight, looking annoyed at the waiter for interrupting him.

After the waiter went away, Abram was normal again.

Time flew away and I was really enjoying his company.

"So tell me about your family" he said as he placed both hands on the table watching me.

"Well, there's really nothing interesting about my family. There are only me, my mom and my dad. Plus, you already know my dad, right?" I replied as I watched his eyebrows rise up.

" Yeah, I know your dad. Very well" he answered, sipping on his wine.

"How about your siblings?" he questioned but I quickly shook my head no, making him frown.

"I don't have any," I answered, which raised his eyebrows again, looking confused but stayed silent.

" Tell me about your fa..." I spoke out but stopped due to his sudden change of mood as his face contorted into anger.

"I'm sorry," I whispered despite not knowing what I was apologizing for.

"They're dead," he answered, making me feel guilty for asking about them. He must be feeling dejected now thanks to me.

" Umm, let's just forget about it, okay?" He suggested, which I nodded my head, yes, giving him a smile.

" So tell me more about yourself. I really want to know you better" he stated as he looked straight into my eyes, not once looking away.

"Umm okay. What do you want to know?" I questioned as I tucked my hair behind my ear feeling insecure from all the stares and glares the women and waitresses were giving us.

"Are you always this shy and silent or it's just because you're not comfortable with me?" He inquired as he smirked at my blushing cheeks.

" No it's not that I'm not comfortable with you, it's just that it feels different to be around someone new and not just our maids in the house or Anna" I explained while he looked at me so confused.

"What do you mean not just Anna or the maids in your house?" He asked.

" I know I may sound weird now but I don't really have.. like.. umm I don't have friends or I don't know... I know I sound pathetic. I'm sorry. I don't even know what I'm talking about. I'm sorry" I stutter out making a complete fool of myself.

Abram just stared at me with a small smile at the corner of his lips, while I started shifting glances all around the room to escape his eyes that daringly not leaving my face even though he knew all very well that I was embarrassed.

"I don't know why but I expected you to be a normal rich brat, you know confident and outspoken, but you're completely the opposite." He stated, making something inside me sink in sadness.

Maybe, girls with confidence and strong personality are his type, not a girl who keeps stuttering and antisocial like me.

How stupid of me to even think that he would like me despite knowing all too well that I don't even meet his standards.

"It's getting late. I think, I should get going" I mumbled trying not to let my voice break.

"Ohh, okay" he replied, placing the bill on the table as he stood up and offered his hand for me to take while I looked at him confused.

"Come on" he added, waiting for me to take his hand but my brain wasn't cooperating with me.

"Huhh?" I whispered as I looked at him, trying to read what's going on inside his head.

"I'm dropping you" he answered as we advanced towards the exit with my cold hand engulfed with his large and warm one.

Everyone was staring at us mostly at our entwined together but at this time the stares were not making me uncomfortable or scared just like any other times just because all I could focus on was my palm against his, sending electricity all around my body making me feel alive.
