Academy

Along the way, I watched the people go about their usual day. I saw people who use magic and those who does not.

" There's only about 30% who can use magic. Most would go to the Academies to learn. There are three Academies in this country. The school exclusive only for aristocrats and wealthy ones, Crimson. The second one, usually, those wealthy or commoners who are extremely smart are the only ones able to enter this. The last but not the least, Leopard. The only qualification is having mana. All those who can't get in those two would go to the Leopard. Which one would you like to enter? Although I would recommend the Eznre Academy as they are in the middle and is funded by the country." Father informed me.

I contemplated for a minute then answered," The Crimson, I am neither smart nor patriotic to be in the Eznre Academy ; But I am not a trash and stupid enough to be in Leopard. According to that information, I speculate that that school has the highest number of students, there would also not be enough budget for utilities thus less resources. Less resources and cramped in small rooms. Not really a good choice." In reflex, I started to explain why I chose Crimson.

" Oh? What about Crimson then?"

" Well, there would be less people. More money would equal better equipments, books and such. More teachers, less cramped rooms, better uniforms-"

"I understand, I understand." Father interrupted.

" Are you sure? I have a hundred more."

" Yes, I am."

" Okay."

Father told the coachman to go to Crimson Academy; After a few minutes, the carriage came to a stop.

I hurriedly got off the carriage and waited for the man to follow me. Although the person who stood beside me was an entirely different person. I nearly jumped upon realizing this.

" Haha. It's me. Let me put an illusion on you too." The young man beside me have black hair and deep blue eyes. " Done, let's go? You can look at your appearance later."

---

They walked and stopped in front of a door. Without even knocking, the black haired man kicked the door open, revealing another middle aged man with brown hair.

The brown haired man neither flinched nor did he look at us; But he knew who came in.

"Henry, It's been awhile. Why have you come here again?" The brown haired man inquired.

"Well, my daughter here wish to enter Crimson Academy." This blue eyed person beside me answered. The brown haired man locked eyes with my father. Both glared at each other.

" Henry. I have always known that you wanted a daughter but you can't force a son to be-" Father suddenly disappeared from beside me then appeared next to the brown haired man.

" Eric Jeneis!"

Father glanced at me and gestured at me to go out.

The school year for this year still hasn't started and everybody suddenly got busy. Moving things, making my school uniform, and my tutors, all of them started to come everyday except for my magic tutor. Every time, they hammer my head open and force all their knowledge on this little brain of mine.

We only had 2 weeks left before the school year starts and Marie and Matilda started bickering on who should accompany me. I gazed at them with moisty eyes but neither one of them noticed my pain. I am being taught how to dance while the new tutor, a history tutor asks questions from me.

---

The time to depart already came and we have decided that both Marie and Matilda would accompany me. Though, I feel bad for Marie and Carl, the lovebirds because they would have to be away from each other.

I bid everybody goodbye while waiting for my father to cast the illusion and also to send me off. A few minutes later, he came and placed his hand on my head.

" In about 6 months, you'll have a week of break from school. Be sure to come back and I'll recast your illusion." He said in a low voice.

I nodded my head and went inside the carriage where my two maids are. " Goodbye." My eyes turned moist when the carriage started moving. I never took of my sight from them until they can't be seen anymore.

---

Henry watched as the carriage left the estate. When he was sure Beatrix couldn't see them anymore, he turned around and left. Behind him, all the people present suddenly fainted.

A few minutes later, they woke up wondering why they were there.

---

In a room, a black haired and deep blue eyed young man argued with the blonde haired and blue eyed middle aged man.

The young man who is 23 years old, resentfully glared at the middle aged man." Why did you make her leave!" He uttered in a cold tone.

" She's not an animal to be caged in a place like this." The middle aged man retorted.

" Do you truly not care about Eznre, father? She would end up leaving and attracting trouble and affecting Eznre." The young man complained to his father.

" She wouldn't be making trouble if you truly take care of her instead of ignoring her. Mind you, son. Beatrix is also a person and she has the right to leave this place if she wanted to. This place we forced her to live in. If you're truly worried about her leaving this country, then make her. But not in this immoral way." The father advised his son but the son refused to accept those.

" I don't care anymore. If I bring her back again, you are not allowed to meddle with I and her." The young man went past his father, fuming and ordered the servants to prepare everything he would be needing.

" I heard she's going to the Academy. I'll follow her there to clean up the trouble she makes. Where is she?" he young man asked without even glancing at his father.

"Eznre."

" Then I'll have to trouble you to take care of the country again."

The middle aged man hummed in response and the son left the room.

The next day, all the students stood on the large field, listening to the speech of the principal.

"Blah blah bla yadda yadda..."

My gaze wondered around. All the students wore Violet colored uniforms despite the name of the school. How Ironic.

I looked at the girl beside me, she has green hair and eyes. Her head is lowered seemingly a shy girl. I thickened my face and introduced myself. " Greetings, I am Beatrix Blosou." This is my first time using etiquette and introducing myself to a stranger.

Her face turned the shade of pink and I could see her lips twitching. Unexpectedly, she held my hand in hers and smiled brightly at me. " Hello! I'm Esther Atoun. You're my friend now!" Her earlier façade completely came off.

This caught me by surprise and nearly pushed her off. " Sure... Can I call you by your first name then?"

" Certainly, Beatrix."

Well that was easy. Both of us laughed but an 'ahm' resounded. We both looked at the principal who's staring at us and looked around. All the students are all looking at us.

" Sorry." I apologized then kicked Esther by her shoe.

After the speech, we were divided by our grades, one, two, and three. " First years. Stay in the field. Today, we will ascertain your attributes. Second and third years, you may go to your assigned classes.

I tapped Esther. " What's an attribute?" She looked at me weirdly but answered anyways.

" It's what element you're able to control. Look, I can control the wind!" She suddenly pointed at me and a gush of wind blew on my face.

"That's pretty cool! Show me more!"

At first, she refused but after a few minutes of flattering, she started to boast.

There are 6 types of attributes. Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind/Air. They are the four common ones. The two others are light and dark. Both the light and dark allow the person to who is attributed to them, have a complete familiarity and enables the person to control those four attributes. Those who have dark attributes have more offensive power while the white ones have more defensive power.

The people who have the attribute for the dark and white elements are extremely rare. Those who have them in Eznre could be counted in a hand. The dark element became hereditary for the royals of Eznre though, only one or two kids could inherit this thus people treasure those who does have it.

The white attribute doesn't fall behind. It is not hereditary hence becoming even more rare than the dark element. It is also rumored that those who posses this are good at healing but are extremely delicate. There was even a legend that there was once a person with a light element that could make a barrier that can encompass a whole country therefore the country was prevented from being turned to ashes.

Before I noticed it, Esther went to the front and placed her hands on the circular glass ball. The ball emitted the colour green." Green attribute!" The teacher close to her announced.

I gulped. I could hear my heard thumping while walking towards that glass ball. I placed both my palms on it and waited.
