14 Chapter 14: Riddles to Solve

Luke’s pov

My heart pounds just as loud as my paws hit the pavement. Hearing the strain in her voice as she explained her location nearly broke me.

I will kill them for this. I knew Illeanna had a thing for me, but I didn’t think she would go this far with it. She’s not even a wolf, though. Through history, there have been a few wolves that have bonded with a human, but never a witch.

I wrestled with alerting the pack, but seeing as this is clearly personal, I mentioned to Grant that Hannah had called for me. He questioned me but thankfully didn’t pry too hard. As alpha, he could force me to tell the whole truth, but thankfully, he trusts me.

It seems now even Hannah is starting to as well.

I keep that feeling at bay as I turn to the trails ahead.
