15 It's complicated

"Why did someone want to kidnap you?"

A pair of curious eyes locked onto Zhi's supposed eyes. Meng Xun had heard Zhi's side of the coin but could not comprehend the motive of the attempt.

Since Zhi was unable to put a reason on it, she replied, "It's complicated". At least it seemed more of a less-suspicious answer than 'I do not know'. She recalled some of the memories, notably what the kidnapper had babbled on and about.

Something about her fate and wheel of life...

She had racked her brain and memories to search for the possible reason as well.

How could she have offended someone when she literally just stepped into the city yesterday. When she had awakened in the burning village, she was a country bumpkin who lived alone in a dilapidated house with tattered clothes.

'What is with my fate in this lifetime? Is it because I managed to get into the city, it means that I will be able to break through the cycle of poverty?

Becoming a business tycoon who owns a fortune.

For the sake of revenge, I'll start obliterating those who previously looked down on me along with their families and clans.

Hence, in this lifetime, someone reincarnated and tried to settle the score?

Or...

with this body's top class beauty, I was able to bewitch every males in the city.

They would be fighting for my favor by battling it out on the arena...

There were huge number of casualties for such an disagreeable objective. But I. I still insisted for the best man.

The last one standing shall have the honor of marrying me...

All of a sudden, a war broke out. But Springwater City could not send their males over and got humiliated by other cities. The Kingdom shall mock the city for as long as ever. Unwilling for such history to repeat itself, someone must stop my prideful self first...'

Meng Xun picked up a sweet biscuit and put it into her mouth. The sleep was super healing on her body as she woke up feeling energized. But one need to eat sugar to fuel up one's brain.

Watching Zhi sat still like a blank statue, Meng Xun would like to assist her in analyzing the problem to lift the emotional burden on Zhi.

'It could be as simple as Zhi having a very nice body. Thus, a pervert had reached his hand to her. She definitely has experience/s on 'that' since she was a married woman.

Nonetheless, this is a poor prospect as Zhi never took off her veil and her clothes were fairly loose.

Now, she had to cover herself from head to toe. What a pity...

Or could it be that...

The reason to Zhi's cover up is because her real identity is a princess of a fallen kingdom!

Zhi had been surviving on her own - she doesn't even have a knight or personal servant to safeguard her.

One day, the assassins had caught wind of her whereabouts and oh no Zhi-!

Perhaps, her location had already been known to them prior to her arrival to the city. Was... the fire from the burning village instigated by the bandits to lure the princess out? The bandits themselves were the same clan of assassin?!'

Silence took over the room as two girls had pondered too deeply in the case. One was as calm as a lake, the other had funny expressions storming through her face. What an amusing view!

Up until now, Zhi had little idea of how grandiose the reputation of the General was. Even if she had known better, she would not be able to associate his identity to the master mind of the incident.

A being that defied natural law, was not that the male lead? The world had been revolving around the male lead - he had it all; visual, strength, power and knowledge. And most important of all - a grand destiny. A path towards prodigiousness that was set in stone.

Towards that lonely and cold apex, would not an equally beautiful and powerful flower be the best companion?

The female lead would be the half of the soul of the male lead! A worthy woman to be by his side.

In the previous lifetime, the female lead had suffered injustice by a foxy villainess. Therefore, she had made a wish. In this lifetime, the villainess would cease to exist!

An hour later,

The more the two pondered upon it, the more questions arose. Simply said, it was really complicated.

"Meng Xun... I think, I will be in this disguise for now," Zhi said honestly with a bitter voice.

Meng Xun nodded determinedly. In case her princess theory was right on the mark.

A knock sounded at the door to the room. Entered was a young girl with a red ribbon.

"Sister Xun~ Master said to gather every new disciples to the main hall. It's finally time to train the new sisters."
