49 Venomancer

"All of you seemed to have forgotten about the leader of this beast horde…"

The voice contained a trace of hissing, showing that it wasn't a normal human who spoke those words. Furthermore, the army and student cultivators shuddered at those words. That was because only sentient demonic beasts could begin to converse in the human language. That meant one thing… that demonic beast was at the Guardian Rank!

A Guardian Rank demonic beast! All the demonic beasts at the frontlines began to howl and make all sort of noises, cheering on the advent of this sentient demonic beast who represented the strength of this entire beast horde.

It was only because of the strength of this one sentient demonic beast that the various demonic beasts of different bloodlines could unify together and form this beast horde. Neither the Snow Wind Apes nor the Black Line Drakes could have the ability to unite such a large number of unruly demonic beasts.

The sentient demonic beast slowly appeared, with the demonic beasts stepping aside to form an aisle for him to walk through. As he travelled to the front, his hideous appearance was well for all the humans to see.

He wasn't a normal demonic beast in appearance. He didn't resemble any of the common animalistic demonic beasts. Rather, he looked like a hydralisk, a type of alien from beyond the Myriad Domain.

Green scales were formed all along his body and his mouth was protruding outwards and it seemed like it couldn't be closed, with saliva dropping out of his mouth at all times. The poisonous saliva, when made in contact with the ground, began to corrode the earth and every living thing that was on it.

Even a Commoner Rank Lower Phase cultivator could tell that this particular demonic beast was an extremely poisonous creature.

When Kael saw the hydralisk, he muttered to himself, "It actually is a Venomancer… how did he end up in the Myriad Domain?"

Venomancer was a type of creature that was born through the result of injecting a human or a demonic beast with the nectar of a mysterious armored orchid and the venom of an incredibly powerful demonic beast. After the injection, the human or demonic beast will go into hibernation. After ten odd years, his transformation would be complete and he would become an extremely poisonous hydralisk, known as the Venomancer.

Venomancers were most well-known for their poisonous attacks. Kael had met quite a few of them in the past as the Invoker. The most powerful Venomancer he ever fought with was called Lesale Deathbringer. This Venomancer in front of him though, was much lacking in comparison. However, for Kael's standard now, he proved to be an extremely tricky and difficult opponent.

If the Venomancer was to participate in the melee fights all over the battlefield, many casualties would arise. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that the Venomancer's presence could affect the entire battlefield.

As the Venomancer stood in front of the beast horde, the Snow Wind Apes and Black Line Drakes bowed slightly in reverence to him, acknowledging him as the leader. The Commoner Rank beasts all gnarled and growled and made all sorts of ruckus, cheering the Venomancer on.

The morale of the human side suffered quite a big hit. There actually was a Guardian Rank demonic beast on their side! How were they going to deal with him?

At this moment, Wallie Dawson seemed to have realized that the gloomy atmosphere in the human ranks and he shouted, imbuing spiritual energy into his voice, "Fret not, the sentient demonic beast won't be able to participate in this battle. That's because the Institute's Principal is observing this battle as well…"

"The Principal? Oh right we almost forgot about him! That's right! With the Principal around, nobody can hope to topple us down!"

The human cultivators cheered once again. To them, the Principal was the symbol of hope and strength in Fledgling City. As long as he was around, the city would never succumb to enemy forces.

"The Principal… may I know where he is?" Kael asked Wallie Dawson.

"He's around, but he's hiding himself. He's saying that he will only interfere if the situation really calls for it." Wallie Dawson replied.

"Then… that means that we still have to deal with this Venomancer ourselves in the meantime…" Kael began formulating plans in his head on how to deal with this sentient demonic beast.

According to his past knowledge of fighting with Venomancers, they were best known for their poisonous attacks, which deal a low initial damage, but their poison could wreck havoc in a cultivator's body and deal massive damage over time, depending on the intensity of the poison. They were also capable of summoning poisonous wards, known as Plague Wards, which could attack enemies independently of the Venomancer's intentions.

Kael wondered what kind of abilities this Venomancer had. As a Guardian Rank monster, he must be in possession of a Magic Art.

Magic Arts were a form of variation from Spirit Arts. They were a higher ranked set of techniques, belonging exclusively to those who were in Guardian Rank or above. For Guardian Rank cultivators, their body could only be in possession of one Magic Art. Magic Arts could deal amplified damage as compared to Spirit Arts, and were much more powerful in every aspect, depending on the type of the Magic Art, whether it was offensive or defensive in nature.

Kael thus deduced that the Venomancer was in possession of either one of the three Magic Arts; Venomous Gale, Poison Sting, or Plague Ward. Each of these Magic Arts was very tricky and difficult to deal with, and was the main thing that Kael had to look out for when fighting with the Venomancer.

Just as Kael was dwelling on this, the Venomancer spoke. "That old fogey that refused to die? I've exchanged blows with him on several occasions decades ago. Yet neither side was able to win. I wonder if the results will be different this time? Certainly, I'm not afraid of him, and let me show you just how powerful I am today!"

"Beast Horde Tide. Go!" The Venomancer hissed and shrieked, flaring up his aura befitting of a Guardian Rank Lower Phase demonic beast.

The demonic beast horde tide got riled up by his aura and every single one of them started charging forward.

Finally the two sides were going to clash!
