51 Thwarted

There were four groups of five cultivators resisting each group of the demonic beasts led by the Herald Rank demonic beasts. That made up 20 resisting a group of 100.

The cultivators grouped together, yet maintaining their battle formations of five people each. There was a faint glow of aura surrounding them, as they were in high alert towards the incoming offense.

Kael instructed Richard Duran and Patten Eagle to join in the fight by resisting the Snow Wind Apes. Wallie Dawson then went to curb the stronger of the two Black Line Drakes.

There was one more Black Line Drake, that was of the Herald Rank Middle Phase. Kael delivered the order, "One of the three groups of Commoner Rank Middle Phase cultivators, resist the Black Line Drake together! You all don't have to cut him down, just make sure that it is fully occupied by your attacks! The other two groups, execute the plan as planned yesterday!"

The three groups of stronger student cultivators nodded and immediately split up to fulfill Kael's orders.

Shortly, the four different groups of demonic beasts clashed against the student cultivators. However, as the demonic beasts tried to tear apart the cultivators, they found out that they were unable to do so.

If anything, the student cultivators were even stronger than the City Lord's army!

The battle formation executed by the student cultivators could be said to be flawless and impenetrable. The demonic beasts, no matter how hard they tried, couldn't find an opening to kill off the student cultivators.

The student cultivators, as instructed by Kael, were just content with holding off the demonic beasts. When the demonic beasts attacked, they would defend. When the beasts wanted to retreat, they would launch an offensive to keep the beasts tied up with them.

A few of the Commoner Rank Middle Phase demonic beasts flared up in anger and wanted to tear down the defenses of these student cultivators. As per rehearsed, when facing these stronger demonic beasts, the cultivators channeled their spiritual energy together into one of them and executed Snapdragon Punch.

A lifelike Snapdragon appeared behind the group of cultivators and it pounced towards one of the Commoner Rank Middle Phase beast.

Splatter! Upon contact, the beasts were immediately pulverized into bits by this technique.

The other demonic beasts could only growl in anger as they saw that their stronger companions were killed off so easily. Hence, the situation became stagnant as the demonic beasts adopted an encircling tactic.

As for the four Herald Rank demonic beasts, they were all tied up in their own intense battles with Wallie Dawson, Richard Duran, Patten Eagle and one group of Commoner Rank Middle Phase cultivators.

Obviously, the one who held the most advantage was Wallie Dawson, simply based on his cultivation level. It was only a matter of time before he could defeat the Black Line Drake and assist the others in their battles.

The Venomancer seemed to have taken notice of this as well. Things were purely out of his expectations today. He didn't expect that even the young generation of Fledgling City could put up a resistance against his troops.

He then gave a final order in the beast language again.

Due to each cluster of 20 cultivators having to deal with 100 demonic beasts, some were bound to be free from the harassment of the cultivators. About 50 of these demonic beasts from each group heard the orders of the Venomancer and shrugged free of the harassment from the student cultivators and started making their way towards the city walls, attempting to scale it.

The student cultivators were unable to stop these groups of demonic beasts from splitting up, as they were already fully occupied. They could only look with exasperated expressions.

Were these demonic beasts really going to breach the defense and start a massacre in the city?

At this moment, Kael was observing the battlefield. He had taken notice of the leakage in the defences as well. However, he wasn't too worried about it. That was because the remnant groups of demonic beasts were heading right towards his traps…

As the remnant groups approached the city walls, they were extremely close to the trenches dug by the City Lord's guards. Prior to the start of the battle, they had already poured Cyanthus Liquid into the trenches.

Kael closed his eyes briefly and muttered an incantation. He opened his eyes and there was a slight hue of blue in them.

"Frost Bolts!" Four bolts of cold energy shot out from within his two palms and headed towards four trenches where the demonic beasts were at.

The Frost Bolts travelled at lightning speed and struck the Cyanthus Liquid in the trenches.

"Boom!" As the cold energy made contact with the flammable substance, a huge explosion occurred. Waves of blue cold flames erupted from within the trenches and engulfed any living creature within 30 meters of its vicinity.

The demonic beasts screamed in agony before disappearing into ashes under the incineration of these special cold blue flames.

All of these happened in a split second. Just like this, the remnant groups of demonic beasts were dealt with. The cold blue flames continued churning. As long as there was still Cyanthus Liquid in the trenches, it could fuel the flames and continue serving as a defence for the city walls.

The human side cheered loudly at this. With this, it was more or less assured that the humans were able to deal with the remaining beast horde tide.

Thwarted at every step on this battlefield, the Venomancer, who was staying behind the enemy lines all this time, was extremely infuriated. He didn't expect that his numerical advantage wouldn't bring forth the results he wanted. He even used his own resources to buy the loyalty of the Snow Wind Apes and the Black Line Drakes, and that was to of no avail as well.

The green scales on his body turned into a brighter shade of green. This was a sign that the spiritual energy inside of him was circulating and ready to explode out of him.

The Venomancer moved forward. Kael, who had been keeping an eye out for the Venomancer all this time, was alerted.

The true battle was going to start!
