56 Setting up the Array

Richard Duran brought Kael out of the meeting room and walked down three corridors, before appearing in front of a huge spacious hall. The hall was comparable in size to the banquet hall where Kael met the student cultivators to discuss the strategies and techniques to face the demonic beast horde tide.

"I didn't know how large the Spirit Convergence Array is going to be, hence I was conservative in my estimation and sourced out a bigger room for you. Besides, location wise, this is one of the safest areas in the whole of Fledgling City, apart from the Myriad Fledgling Institute."

"Mm. Thank you for arranging this. I'll be entering and recuperating there." Kael nodded towards Richard Duran.

"Then I'll come back in three days' time."

After Richard Duran left, Kael entered the hall and he looked at the pile of Heaven and Earth treasures laid out neatly on the tables in the middle of the hall.

"Formation gadgets, stabilizing runes… all here. Not bad, not bad…" Kael muttered to himself as he took stock of the materials needed to set up the Spirit Convergence Array.

Having made sure that all the materials needed were in place, Kael proceeded to sit down and meditate. He took out the Ice Artifice and began the process of absorbing the power of the cold energy through a mini Spirit Convergence Array.

This continued on for 6 hours before Kael opened his eyes. His spiritual energy reserves had roughly recovered to full. Furthermore, due to the intense battle with the Venomancer, he felt that his aurasea had been stretched to the limit and had shown signs of growth. This was an extremely beneficial thing to Kael because that meant that he was closer to breaking through to the Commoner Rank Late Phase.

Satisfied, Kael stood up. He then went onto the next task – setting up the Spirit Convergence Array.

Kael already had an idea how big the Spirit Convergence Array should be, given the demands of the hybrid cores and taking into account the spiritual energy reserves of the Herald Rank cultivators.

The array didn't need to be massively big to produce a lot of hybrid cores at once. However, it needed to be very stable, only requiring the input of spiritual energy from a Herald Rank cultivator to produce a hybrid core.

With this in mind, Kael began to place the formation gadgets in a 30 feet radius in a triangular fashion.

Next, Kael activated the formation gadgets by channeling spiritual energy into it. The formation gadgets started humming one by one as it got activated. White blurry lines were emitted out from the gadgets and the lines touched each other, forming into a 2D triangle.

The base of the Spirit Convergence Array already took shape, which meant that the first step was done.

The next step was the difficult one – which was to convert the 2D triangle into a 3D pyramid.

Kael used his spiritual energy emitting from his palms to make contact with the white blurry lines. The lines buzzed slightly, resisting slightly to the foreign spiritual energy. However, Kael was able to manipulate his spiritual energy to such a fine degree that the lines produced from the formation gadgets no longer rejected it.

Then, Kael began to pull the lines in an upwards fashion.

The lines seemed to experience inertia and was slow in responding, moving upwards in a very slow fashion.

However, this was all within Kael's expectations, since this was not his first time dealing with formation gadgets. As the Invoker, he had his fair share of creating arrays through formation gadgets.

Very patiently, Kael began to pull all those lines, one by one, such that the shape of a pyramid gradually took shape.

There were 3 very distinct dense white lines that shot upwards towards the apex, forming the 'skeleton' of the array, whereas the surface of the 3D pyramid was dyed a faint white color.

The second step was done. However, the array looked very fragile as the lines were constantly buzzing and it seemed like it might fall apart at any external interference.

Next, Kael took the stabilizing runes, which were actually stones carved from a special material that were inscribed with runic patterns. He placed the stabilizing runes on the apex of the pyramid.

When the stabilizing rune made contact with the lines at the apex, the buzzing from the lines seemed to have dulled a little. The rune was just hovering in mid-air without any support, as the white lines were the ones supporting it at its position.

The stabilizing rune rotated within its own position, unmoving. It was a tiny piece of stone, however it was extremely crucial in maintaining the stability of the rune.

Kael subsequently placed stabilizing runes at the joints of the 3D pyramid, ie at the place of the formation gadgets. When three of the runes were in place, the buzzing from the white lines stopped.

The three dense white lines emitted an even greater density of whiteness, while the paleness of the rest of its surface was replaced with a healthy white color.

Finally, the structure of the Spirit Convergence Array was settled. Kael then began to inscribe runes on the surface of the 3D pyramid with his own spiritual energy. This was to 'give instructions' to the array to function as a Spirit Convergence Array meant for creating hybrid cores.

When Kael inscribed the last bit of 'instruction' on the array, the array gave off a flash of bright white light, momentarily blinding Kael within the spacious hall itself.

The Spirit Convergence Array was done!

Kael wanted to test the effectiveness of this Spirit Convergence Array right away. After all, held back by his cultivation level, his mastery of inscribing arrays was not at the peak like it was before he reincarnated. So he wanted to be sure of whether this array could work or not.

He placed two empty monster cores in the middle of the array. Next, he injected spiritual energy onto the surface of the array. The array responded by transferring his spiritual energy towards the apex and when the stabilizing rune received the spiritual energy, it converted it into pure energy through the power of the array and shot it straight into the empty monster cores.
