60 One Finger

The crowd in the meeting room instantly went into an uproar when they saw Adolf Gary flying across the span of the whole room.

"A reflective defensive Spirit Array?! Heavens!"

"How did he come to possess such a powerful Spirit Array? Impossible… this person…"

"Relax everyone. I'm guessing this is only possible because the cultivation level of Adolf Gary is too low. Every defensive Spirit Array has a threshold. As long as the damage output is enough, the shield will break."

"That's right. Still, it's amazing enough that he actually possesses knowledge of a Spirit Array with reflective properties, which is practically unheard of in this region. This kid really is not a simple character."

The crowd began to involve themselves in a heated discussion over Kael's Spirit Array.

Adolf Gary, who was thrown to the far end of the room, stood up from the rubble caused by the crashing into furniture. There was confusion written all over his face. Although he wasn't injured badly, his pride and ego had been considerably shaken.

"Just what the **** is that thing…!!! I can't accept it! You must be cheating!" Adolf Gary shouted at the top of his lungs.

It was only then that the crowd noticed the existence of the victim. They all quietened down and looked at Adolf Gary, who was fuming and walking back to the center of the meeting room.

The representative from Fairview City spoke up. "There's no cheating involved here. Everyone can be a witness. The two of you depended on your own abilities to set up the Spirit Arrays within the stipulated time given. Now, since you have failed in your first try to break the Spirit Array, you only have one more chance left."

Adolf Gary's face was beet red. He was embarrassed, humiliated and defeated. However, there was nothing he could say to rebut the person from Fairview City.

He thought to himself. "There must be some hidden trick to this Spirit Array…" Adolf Gary's eyes began scanning the Spirit Array from top to bottom once again.

Suddenly, 'comprehension' dawned upon him. "Could it be the stabilizing rune which that bastard put at the last minute? That must be the crux to the stability of this Spirit Array! Yes! That must be it!"

Excited at this new 'revelation', Adolf Gary quickly went to the front of Kael's Spirit Array. He summoned all the spiritual energy he could muster within himself and delivered a punch towards the stabilizing rune. This time around, he didn't dare to slacken and he executed the signature Spirit Art of his heritage.

"Anchor Fist!" Adolf Gary's fist contained a silver glow as it rammed into the stabilizing rune in a daunting manner.

The stabilizing rune was immediately crushed into pieces upon impact.

"Yes! It's broken!" Joy was written all over Adolf Gary's face. He thought that the Spirit Array was now finally broken and would collapse.

Even the crowd was silent for a moment. Some of them earlier on had the same train of thought as Adolf Gary. They thought that there must be some special reason why Kael had installed a stabilizing rune on the top of the Spirit Array at the last minute.

However, even after the stabilizing rune was destroyed, the Spirit Array didn't dispel. Ten seconds. 20 seconds. Half a minute of silence passed. The Spirit Array was still humming softly, showing that it was still fully functioning.

"How can this be… I already broke the stabilizing rune! It should have been broken!" Adolf Gary shouted once again. At this moment, he was in hysteria, not being able to accept the fact that he failed to break Kael's Spirit Array in two tries.

This meant that Adolf Gary had failed in his challenge.

Kael finally couldn't hold it in any longer and he started laughing out loud.

"You bastard! What are you laughing about?!" Adolf Gary hollered at Kael.

"I'm laughing at you for being a fool. The stabilizing rune was merely a decoration, a ruse to deceive you into thinking that the Spirit Array actually needed a stabilizing rune to ensure the integrity of the structure…"

Upon hearing Kael's statement, some in the crowd also started laughing. However, they muffled their laughter simply because it was too embarrassing for Adolf Gary to fail in his challenge in such a manner.

Wallie Dawson also had a grin plastered on his face as he observed the whole situation.

"You… this bastard. I'm going to kill you!" In his anger and humiliation, Adolf Gary wanted to attack Kael.

However, Wallie Dawson unleashed his aura belonging to a Herald Rank Late Phase cultivator, suppressing Adolf Gary, who was only at the Herald Rank Lower Phase. Adolf Gary, who felt the oppression of the dominating aura, finally had a bit of clarity entering his head.

"Hmph, I might have failed to break your Spirit Array, but that is only because you are lucky to chance upon an ancient manuscript. I don't believe that you can break this top-tier defensive Spirit Array of mine! If you can't, it's considered a draw, and that means that Anchorage City won't participate in the production of the hybrid cores still!"

Kael looked at Adolf Gary with a passive expression. He didn't say anything, but instead walked to Adolf Gary's Spirit Array in a few steps.

Next, without even properly examining the Spirit Array, he placed a finger onto a particular pattern inscription on the surface of the Spirit Array.

When Adolf Gary saw that Kael had placed a finger on that specific spot, his face drastically changed.
