3 Myriad Domain

The closest city, not village, that they were heading towards was called Fledgling City. Mirana and Thrump were both students that came from the only school in the city, Fledgling Myriad Institute. Kael found out that Mirana was a Commoner Rank Lower Phase cultivator, while Thrump was inching towards the Commoner Rank.

"So, what were you doing in the Black Heart Forest all alone?"

Kael couldn't possibly reveal that he was the infamous and almighty Invoker that everyone respected, feared and worshipped in the Hundred Realms. Even if he did reveal his identity, in this place, they might not know him. Even if they did, they wouldn't believe such a normal person was the Invoker himself.

"I lost my memory. I can't remember my past nor what happened. However, when I woke up, I found myself in a graveyard next to the forest. After waking up, I started to wander around in the forest looking for trails to lead me back to civilization. That was when I bumped into the enormous spider and the two of you."

"Amnesia? Oh that graveyard next to the Black Heart Forest. It has been deserted for a long time, for many years. It's surprising that you would end up there. Huh, weird."

"I have no idea as well." Kael continued lying. "So, where is this place that we are at now? Which part of the Hundred Realms are we at?"

"Haha. We are at the Myriad Domain. The city we are going to, Fledgling City, is at the far eastern side of the realm."

The Myriad Domain? Wasn't that the most backwater and run-down realm amongst the Hundred Realms? It was famous for a lack of strong cultivators, and had always been mocked by the realm masters for being the lowest tier realm out of all the Hundred Realms.

Kael was sorely disappointed. However, he didn't let it show on his face. He still retained a cool and calm composure as he nodded his head to acknowledge Mirana's words.

There was a reason why Kael was dejected. That was because in such a lowly realm, it was impossible to find great cultivation resources to boost his level such that he could reach the Ancient Rank as soon as possible and partake in the Defense of the Ancients once again. He could also not traverse through other realms to look for resources because he had to be at the Herald Rank at least to withstand the spiritual pressure of going between realms.

"Looks like I can only take things one step at a time. My aim now is to find resources in this so-called Fledgling City and push towards the Commoner Rank first!" Kael thought to himself.

Along the way, the trio encountered little obstacles. There were only 2 Commoner Rank Lower Phase demonic beasts, which were easily dispelled by the Mirana siblings. Mirana uses a bow and arrows to suppress the enemies, while Thrump hammers his way through his enemies. It was an effective teamwork between them both.

After 4 hours, Fledgling City was finally in sight. Against the backdrop of the evening setting sun and the drifting clouds, the city looked like it was shrouded in an immortal air. The outlines and contours of the city looked like a chick that was just hatched from incubation. Perhaps that was where it derived its name from.

The trio exited the forest and the view was clear for them to see. From here, it would only take 10 minutes before they reached the entrance of the city.

"We are finally here! Yay!" Mirana exclaimed. It had been a long journey for her, hunting for 3 whole days and traveling by foot. Thrump agreed by nodding.

"Mirana, are we going to enter together or separately? Is there any need for verification before entering the city, for example a citizen identification card?"

"You can enter this city without verification. Bandits and thieves don't find here an attractive place to be at all, given the sore lack of cultivation resources here. The only place where there are resources is the Fledgling Myriad Institute. Since it is tightly guarded and has its own security, the city defenses are rather lax about admitting people in. You don't need to worry!"

"Oh? How does one enter the Institute then?" The school piqued Kael's interest since there are cultivation resources there.

"Well. Firstly you got to be a citizen of the city. Secondly you need to display martial potential so that you won't waste the cultivation resources without becoming a cultivator. Why? I see that you are of age. Are you interested in joining us? Hehe." Mirana teased Kael.

"Haha. I have nowhere to go at the moment, so I'm considering if I should enroll in your school. However, I have to become a citizen first?"

"It's simple. Either you make a living and contribute to the city's development for 2 years, or that you display a talent so eye-catching that the city's management has to take you in at all cost." Miranda replied affirmatively. She was sure that Kael had to live in the city for 2 years first before deciding on anything else. After all, he had supposedly lost his memories. Maybe the time in Fledgling City would allow him to rediscover who he really was and to gain a foothold in life.

2 years? Kael couldn't wait that long though. When he found out from Miranda that he didn't turn back in time but merely transmigrated his consciousness to a different body, which means that time was still ticking, Kael realized he was short in time before he could maneuver the tides of the battle in the secret realm of the Defense of the Ancients.

Seems like the only other possible option was to do something big and exciting… Kael had a few plans in mind. However, he had to see the actual conditions in the city first before deciding his next course of action. Of course, none of these plans were mediocre, nor was it to eke out a living. Rather, it was going to change the course of life for Fledgling City. Little did Mirana and Thrump know that they had invited the knowledge master in the Hundred Realms into their lives…
