40 Hybrid Core

"Kael, so what is it that these sentient demonic beasts want?"

"Simple. They want our cultivator cores."

Wallie Dawson's expression shifted slightly. Everyone in the Myriad Lower Region knows that simple fact. It is the reason why there are massive demonic beast hordes once in a while. Some say that the demonic beasts want to get back at humans for hunting on them, while others opine that they simply want to ingest the cultivator cores of humans so that they can level up as well.

"So… you are proposing that we give them our cores? No one will agree to that…" Wallie Dawson thought it was something so obvious that it wasn't worth mentioning, but he didn't want to offend Kael over this matter, given the special circumstances of how Kael's contributions to Fledgling City.

"I know what you are thinking, Vice-Principal. Of course, everyone thinks that in order for the demonic beasts to ingest our cultivator cores, they have to kill us first. That is because the cores only solidify upon death within our aurasea, similar to how monster cores are created right before death in the demonic beasts."

Kael continued. "However, in other parts of the Hundred Realms, sentient demonic beasts have come to an agreement with cultivators of great sects over a particular arrangement. Of course their cultivation levels are too high for us to fathom, but we can adopt a similar practice in the Myriad Lower Region."

Wallie Dawson and Richard Duran's eyes widened. They spent their whole lives in the Myriad Domain, thus they had little to no idea about the practices in other parts of the Hundred Realms.

Seeing their eager looks, Kael chuckled on the inside. "We can create hybrid cores."

"Hybrid cores? What is that?"

"We make use of empty monster cores that are previously used for cultivation, and we inject into them the essence of cultivators."

"What?! How is that possible?!"

"It's entirely possible. Haha. Let me show you guys, then you will believe."

Kael took out an empty monster core from his item bag and placed it on the table in front of Wallie Dawson and Richard Duran.

He then began channeling spiritual energy into his fingertips, inscribing an array that was a foot wide in diameter around the empty monster core.

Richard Duran had no idea what this array was, since his exposure to this field was very limited. The previous time when he had observed Kael teaching the blacksmiths and apprentices about the offensive and defensive arrays was one of his few times witnessing an array being drawn.

Wallie Dawson on the other hand, was much more experienced. From the books that he had read and the people he had interacted with, he was able to glean that this array that Kael was inscribing was some sort of Spirit Convergence Array.

Kael, after reincarnating, drew a Spirit Convergence Array before for channeling power to upgrade the Doubling Monster Core to produce Commoner Rank Middle Phase monster cores. This time around, he was drawing a Spirit Convergence Array as well.

Spirit Convergence Array, as the name suggested, was an array that converges the spiritual power from the surroundings to the center of the array, increasing the spiritual energy of the object in the center. Of course, the object had to have a capacity of containing spiritual energy in the first place.

In this case, a monster core naturally passed such a prerequisite. A monster core was formed upon death of the demonic beast, made from spiritual energy crystallized in the aurasea. The majority of the spiritual energy in the aurasea then was contained within the monster core. As such, placing an empty monster core within the Spirit Convergence Array seemed logical to Wallie Dawson.

"Vice-Principal, next, try injecting your spiritual energy from the periphery of the array at this location." Kael pointed to an unique pattern of the Spirit Convergence Array and directed Wallie Dawson to inject his spiritual energy there.

Wallie Dawson nodded and extended his skinny and frail looking hand and placed it on the unique pattern. Suddenly, he unleashed his aura, displaying the might of a Herald Rank Late Phase cultivator. Richard Duran's expression shifted slightly, while Kael remained just as calm. A violent stream of turbulent spiritual energy then channeled itself into the Spirit Convergence Array.

The array hummed softly while receiving the spiritual energy, and then visible currents could be seen flowing into the empty monster core in the middle. The monster core began rotating itself slowly, emitting white plumes of gas as it was absorbing the spiritual energy.

"It's proceeding smoothly. The gas is a form of impurity that the monster core is selectively filtering out before absorbing the pure spiritual energy." Kael said.

Wallie Dawson and Richard Duran looked in amazement at what was happening in front of them. Initially, Wallie Dawson thought that with his forceful channeling of his violent spiritual energy into the array, the low level monster core would break. If it broke, then it wouldn't validate Kael's theory. However, the situation in front of him proved to be the exact opposite. With the help of the Spirit Convergence Array, the monster core didn't crack from the external pressure but was instead smoothly turning into a spiritually filled monster core.

After 30 seconds, the monster core stopped rotating and emitting white plumes of smoke. The array also stopped humming. That was because all of the spiritual energy transferred by Wallie Dawson was now in its entirety 'gobbled' up by the monster core.

Kael deactivated the Spirit Convergence Array by inscribing certain patterns on the array, which then disappeared into thin air. He then gingerly picked up the monster core on the table and showed it to the duo to see.

The previously empty monster core which lacked lustre, was now shimmering with a golden glow. Most importantly, both Wallie Dawson and Richard Duran realised that it was a monster core that was exuding the spirituality of a human cultivator. The hybrid core was a success!
