10 Huge Goblin

There was a faint scent of blood lingering amongst the expedition members after slaying the goblins. They were all people who killed demonic beasts before, thus it wasn't anything special to them to kill Whitemoon Goblins. However, it was indeed their first time performing tactics at such a sophisticated level. Thus, they were nonetheless excited at the first blood that they spilled. All of them were looking at Kael with fervent eyes now, awaiting the next set of instructions.

"Good job. I think everyone now has a faint idea of what it means to work in a team and also getting a sense of familiarity dealing with the goblins. Now we proceed further into the mines. However, be on extra alert for any possible sneak ambushes. These creatures, having gone through the evolution with the help of the Whitemoon Stones, have possessed a level of intelligence greater than normal demonic beasts." Kael cautioned them.

Patten Eagle nodded in approval. He commanded, "Onwards!"

In this manner, the expedition proceeded inwards. Along the way, they encountered numerous goblins. Often, the goblins would group up in teams of 20-30, thus it wasn't difficult to exterminate them. The fight happened in roughly a 1:1 ratio, thus they were often split into two large groups, one killing the goblins and the other scouting forward and leaving marks for the group behind to catch up with them.

After one whole day of exploration and fighting goblins, they finally saw a mineral vein.

The mineral vein had an expanse of about 100 feet, extending in all directions around the mines, exuding a faint white luminous light, similar to the Whitemoon branding on the goblins' foreheads. This thus signified that this mineral vein was where the Whitemoon Stones could be harvested.

However, they were greeted with a sight that shocked them.

There was a throng of goblins guarding the mineral vein, numbering at least 100 of them. Furthermore, there was one particular goblin that was extremely eye-catching; it was 10 times larger than a normal goblin, and its claws were exceptionally huge as well. One could imagine being swatted to death by those huge, deadly metal claws.

Due to the spirit art, Illuminati, the goblins quickly took notice of the intruders.

Kael quickly ran through calculations in his head, processing the offense and defense of both parties. He then shouted, "Form into your teams as per usual. However each team now has to take on twice as many goblins as before! Beastmasters, it is time to use your profession's spirit art to create aggro towards yourselves while the supports do their jobs of cleaning up! Patten Eagle and I will take care of the huge goblin. Move!!"

At the same time when Kael gave the orders, the huge goblin also growled in its own language, commanding the goblins in the vicinity to battle against the intruders.

A fierce battle soon broke out. Clearly, the goblins here were more powerful than those that the expedition had met along the way. They were faster and their attacks with their claws were more powerful as well. Coupled with the advantage in numbers, it proved to be a tough challenge for the different teams to exploit the weaknesses of the goblins.

As such, both parties were caught in a stalemate. Neither side was able to gain an advantage in killing the other party. The melee and ranged supports were unable to execute Sunlight Throw effectively because they had to fend against the other goblins.

At this moment, one of the Beastmasters let out an angry howl. "Roar!!!" It sounded like a ferocious bear of the ancient times.

Kael knew this was the profession's signature spirit art: "Beast Howl". The user who released the howl would gain a significant increase in defense for a short while and also attract the attention of the enemies to the user subconsciously, attacking the Beastmaster instead of his peers.

Similar howls began to ring out across the area.

With that, the tide began to shift. The goblins, though intelligent, couldn't resist the howls and began to attack the Beastmasters with bloodshot eyes. The supports were then able to focus on hacking away the limbs of the goblins from behind.

One by one, the goblins began to fell.

The huge goblin, when he saw that the situation was disadvantageous, suddenly decided to make a move.

It ran towards one of the Beastmasters closest to him. As it ran, the earth trembled violently, showing how heavy and monstrous this creature was. In a short few moments, it had approached the Beastmaster. The Beastmaster noticed him and brandished his axes to receive the huge goblin.

The huge goblin however, didn't seem to take notice of the axes. The Beastmaster used all his might and hacked onto the huge goblin's legs, thinking that this goblin should have the same weakness as other goblins. To his dismay, the axes felt like it hit metal. It didn't even make a dent on the huge goblin's tough skin. The huge goblin then growled and swiped his claws at the shocked Beastmaster. The Beastmaster tried to parry the attack with his double axes. However, when the claw made contact with the axes, it blew the Beastmaster away like a bullet shooting out from a cannon at high velocity.

The Beastmaster that was sent flying crashed against the walls of the mine. He then laid there slumped, blood oozing out from his orifices. Shortly, he remained motionless and disappeared into thin air. This was a sign that the Beastmaster died and his soul was traveling back to the Cathedral of Lights.

Just one blow and a core of a team was dead. Kael sucked in a breath of cool air. He knew that this huge goblin would disrupt the plans of the whole expedition. Thus he signaled to Patten Eagle, "It's our turn to deal with that huge goblin. Just keep him occupied while I find a way to deal with him."

Patten Eagle's face grew serious as he saw the dead Beastmaster. He solemnly nodded, before brandishing his axes and rode his mount to face this fearsome opponent. Kael followed closely behind, using Spirit Step to evade all of the incoming goblin attacks to reach the huge goblin.
