23 Forging Room

A forging room? Richard Duran was puzzled. Even if Kael could forge items, at the very most he could only create something that is at the Common Rank. That was clearly insufficient to quantify as a great contribution to Fledgling City. However, Richard Duran didn't let his thoughts get in the way of his relationship with Kael. He knew that there must be something more than just pure forging that Kael wanted to bring to the table.

"The City Lord faction has our own forging rooms. However, they are all of normal quality. In fact, forging rooms in the Myriad Domain are all of the same standard according to my knowledge. However, it helps to have a forging expert to be with you when you are forging items. To that end, I recommend that you go to Wayland the Smith. He is one of the more popular figures when it comes to crafting items suitable for your cultivation level. Even the axes that I had at the Uncommon Rank which was for Herald Rank cultivators were forged by him."

Wayland the Smith? Kael had been there to buy a normal sword before embarking on his trip to the Black Heart Forest. Kael's impression of that blacksmith was that he didn't care much about selling his items. It seemed like Wayland the Smith had forged the City Lord's new pair of axes using the harvested Whitemoon Stones.

Kael immediately recognized this as an opportunity to distinguish himself. If he was to achieve something ground breaking in the forge of Wayland the Smith, the effects would be even more pronounced.

As such, Kael didn't reject the City Lord's suggestion. He bowed and then left the presence of Richard Duran and Patten Eagle. It was only after Kael left did Patten Eagle raised his query to Richard Duran.

"Forging? So his supposed contribution is to forge an item? However, we aren't lacking in Common Rank items. I'm afraid that won't qualify as a great contribution…"

"We shall just wait and see. I don't think it is as simple as that. There must be more than it meets the eye. Haven't you seen enough surprises from this young man? The Whitemoon Mines and his speed of cultivation are just mere examples."

If the two of them knew about what happened with the Black Line Drakes in the Black Heart Forest, their opinions of Kael would reach an even greater level.

Kael reached the blacksmith, Wayland the Smith, in a short while after he left the City Lord residence. The blacksmith, as per usual, was busy forging items in his storefront. Kael approached the blacksmith, not revealing that he was actually the Kael. By this time, even Wayland the Smith had known of Kael's deeds in the Whitemoon Mines. Aware of this, Kael decided not to make a ruckus out of it.

"Wayland the Smith? I bought a sword from you about 10 days ago."

Wayland the Smith continued hammering the sword on his hand by the anvil. "I can't remember you. Are you here to buy another weapon?"

"No, I'm here to rent a forging room from you."

Wayland the Smith stopped hammering the sword. Finally, he raised his head and looked at the young man. He frowned as he said, "What do you want to forge? I only have one forging room here, and that's the one you are looking at right now. So as you can see, I'm busy forging items with this forging set right now. I'm afraid I have to turn you down." Wayland the Smith was just about to continue forging when he was interrupted by Kael.

"I'm here to forge a Common Rank item, not any normal items."

"Oh? What item?" Wayland the Smith's curiosity was piqued. This young man didn't look like a blacksmith in every aspect, yet he wanted to forge a cultivator's item?

"Any item that you can think of. After I forged it, I'll gift it to you."

Wayland the Smith was taken aback by this young man's arrogance. Any item? Furthermore, Kael wanted to gift a precious Common Rank item to him for no reason? What was this young man playing at?

He found this young man to be very strange. Yet he couldn't refute a freebie when it dropped down from heaven. Thus, he wanted to test this young man out before he could believe this young man's claims.

"Alright, I'll lend you the forging room, but on one condition. Condense your forging flames and show it to me."

Wayland the Smith was making things difficult for Kael on purpose. Only established and renowned blacksmiths were able to condense forging flames, which would increase the chances of refining a ranked item greatly. Even himself didn't possess the forging flames, and had to depend on his hammer and anvil to forge items.

The corner of Kael's lips curled upwards. Kael extended his right hand in front of Wayland the Smith. A tiny wisp of blue flame emerged from within his palm. The flame had a metallic sheen to it, a signature characteristic of a forging flame instead of a normal flame or Fire attribute Spirit Art that a cultivator could possess.

"You only mentioned about condensing a forging flame. However it doesn't need to be potent enough to start forging weapons. I'm limited by my cultivation level, hence this is the best I can do. However I still pass you test, right?"

Wayland the Smith was shocked. Even though it was just a wisp, it was still a forging flame. Considering Kael's cultivation level and age, it was ridiculous that he could comprehend the arts of forging to such a degree that he could condense a forging flame. He started to have some anticipation to what kind of item Kael would craft and give to him.

"Alright. I suppose you pass. However, I won't provide any Heaven and Earth treasures. You will have to use your own. Also, I'm lending you this forge for only one day. Make it count." He was making things difficult for Kael again. Usually, a Common Rank item would take four to five days of utmost concentration to forge. One day was a preposterous timing.

Kael didn't seem to mind it. He merely thanked the blacksmith and proceeded into the forging room, which was actually an open space concept. Onlookers were free to observe what he was doing. Naturally, that included Wayland the Smith as well. He was not going to leave, but instead to observe Kael and see what this strange young man was up to.
