11 Fighting the Huge Goblin

In a few short breaths, Patten Eagle and Kael reached the huge goblin. The menacing creature seemed to know that the duo were the leaders of this expedition, thus it snarled and opened its wide mouth, revealing the fangs on its mouth to try and intimidate these two humans.

Kael communicated with Patten Eagle via a spirit art, "Just delay him for a short time while I make preparations. 5 minutes is all I need."

Patten Eagle, having seen the success of the expedition thus far, trusted Kael implicitly. He nodded and charged with his mount towards the huge goblin. The creature raised both of his claws up and swiped down towards Patten Eagle. However, the creature sorely missed. Unlike his previous success with the first Beastmaster, he didn't hit his target.

Patten Eagle had veered off at a right-angled direction when the claws came down. At a higher cultivation than the rest, his understanding of Spirit Step was also at a different level; he was able to fuse the spirit art with his beast and his mount could maneuver with great agility while facing off against the huge goblin.

Enraged, the huge goblin began making more swipes towards this puny human who dared to challenge his authority in the Whitemoon Mine. The brand on his forehead began to glow in a deep, dark red color. Suddenly, the huge goblin's speed increased. His swipes were getting faster and faster. Patten Eagle though, with the help of Spirit Step, was barely able to evade the increased flurry of attacks from the goblin. However, he couldn't hold on for long before one of the claws would make contact with him.

"Kael! Are you done yet!"

"Just give me ten more seconds…"

The ten seconds felt like eternity to Patten Eagle. Every single second was spent taking a walk close to death's door. However, he managed to scrape through this ten whole seconds.

Finally, Patten Eagle couldn't endure it any longer and he chased his mount outside of the attacking range of the huge goblin into an empty plot of land beside Kael.

"Huff.. huff… Kael, what is it that you are trying to do? Is it done?" Patten Eagle asked while panting furiously.

"I'm done… let it begin." Kael began chanting an incantation underneath his breath and making spirit seals with both of his hands.

"…" The incantation lasted for a mere 2 seconds, while he made at least 20 spirit seals at supersonic speed with his hands.

The huge goblin, extremely enraged, stared at the duo as if he wanted to eat them alive with just his eyes alone. He took the first step towards them in his fury.

"Shing!" Suddenly, a bright yellow pillar of light shone from beneath the huge goblin's feet.

The pillar of light was actually formed from a Spirit Array that Kael had spent 5 minutes setting up. He was emitting magic power through his fingers as he drew the invisible pattern of a Spirit Array around the huge goblin. After he was done, the incantation and the spirit seals were necessary to activate the Spirit Array.

As the Spirit Array was activated, the pillar of light consumed the huge goblin in its brightness. After a short second, the light disappeared, revealing the huge goblin. However, it looked like it didn't suffer any harm nor damage. It merely looked clueless as to what had just transpired.

"What? Your method didn't work?" Patten Eagle was flabbergasted. If the huge goblin wasn't taken down, all of them would be decimated.

"Relax, just watch me now…" Kael uttered in a slow fashion, a trace of cruel smile revealing itself on his curled lips.

Kael took a leap forward towards the huge goblin and jumped up into the air.

"Mid-air? Won't he be vulnerable to the goblin's claws?" One of the expedition members exclaimed.

The huge goblin snarled and was about to use his right claw to swipe at Kael. Kael then performed a stunt that defied gravity and logic. His body spun at high speed and became a rotating drill. The drill then made its way right towards the huge goblin!

Seeing this, the huge goblin frantically used his left claw to block the incoming attack.

"Zam!"

Kael drilled through the left claw and pierced through the huge goblin's heart. In a split second, Kael appeared and landed on the other side of the battlefield, drenched in dark blue goblin blood.

The huge goblin had a look of shock as it stared at the gaping hole in the middle of its chest. Finally, his body stopped functioning and he collapsed on the floor, face down, not moving and getting up anymore.

The tough battle between the bosses was won. The surrounding expedition members cheered on, finding a new source of energy inside of them to continue fighting. The goblins, having lost their leader, were greatly demoralized and couldn't continue fighting at peak performance. Their numbers dwindled and eventually all of them were killed off.

"What spirit art was that? To be so powerful to pierce through the iron defense of the goblin!" Patten Eagle exclaimed at Kael in wonder after the huge battle.

"It's just a low grade offensive Spirit Art. What truly happened was that my Spirit Array, 'Yellow Light Array', caused the armor and defense of the goblin to break down completely. That was why it was so easy for me to pierce through its metal claw and tough skin and deal him a finishing blow!"

Patten Eagle finally put the pieces of the puzzles behind Kael's eccentric movements together. It made sense now. He looked at Kael as if he was the true monster instead. This man had endless tricks and strategies up his sleeves. It would be a bane to actually make this man an enemy instead of a friend. It was a good thing that Fledgling City had a cordial relationship with this foreigner now…
