58 Exchanging Pointers

"By exchanging pointers, you mean…" Kael wanted to continue asking Wallie Dawson but he was suddenly interrupted by a youth sitting at one corner of the meeting room.

"It's simple. There are three of us from the different cities that are opposed to this so-called alliance. Defeat us in each of the topic that we have chosen to compete in and you have permission to rally our men to create these so-called hybrid cores. If you can't, then you won't have the participation from the city that the representative belongs to."

Kael thought that this was a ridiculous notion. If any one of the cities was sidelined, they would be susceptible to the attacks of the demonic beast horde if the sentient demonic beasts were aware of any arrangements.

"Unless they are confident that I'll lose in two or maybe all three of the matches… then only Fledgling City will be trying to produce the hybrid cores, and if we can't hit the quota, another beast horde tide will emerge?"

Wallie Dawson gave a slight cough. "Kael, let me introduce the three youths to you. This is Adolf Gray from Anchorage City, this is Fred Palpatine from Hailford City and this is Darth Wilkes from Cloverleigh City. They are all the future City Lords of their respective cities."

Understanding dawned upon Kael. "So this is what it is all about. They feel their future rulership is threatened by the developments in Myriad Lower Region, so this is their way of opposing me. However… is it truly so easy to win against me?"

"How about Fairview City?" Kael inquired.

The youth who spoke earlier, named Adolf Gray from Anchorage City, spoke out. "They are a spineless city, not sending their future City Lord here to exchange pointers with you."

Kael wanted to roll his eyes. "More like they have an understanding of the times and wanted to have a good cooperation with Fledgling City." He thought inwardly. Probably Fairview City also had a good impression of him and Fledgling City due to the Darram brothers' report, hence explaining their stance.

A middle aged burlesque man spoke out from the other side of the meeting room. "Young Master Kael, I'm representing Fairview City. We have no qualms about this cooperation. However, we do want to see tacit cooperation from the other cities so that our burden of hitting the quota is much less reduced. To that end, I sincerely hope that you can satisfy the demands of the three future City Lords so that Myriad Lower Region can advance towards peace."

Kael nodded in assent towards the middle aged man. He then addressed the whole room. "Deal. I agree to the terms. Tell me the areas to compete in."

Adolf Gary, the one who was branded as irritating by Kael, spoke out again. "I will compete with you in Spirit Arrays. I want to see if you are truly talented in arranging Spirit Arrays or that you are just a fluke who got an ancient manuscript about creating Spirit Convergence Arrays."

The azure clothed youth, Darth Wilkes from Cloverleigh City, spoke out. "Since you can go on par with the Venomancer, you must have a few tricks up your sleeve. However, I'm throwing all those tricks out. We will compete in a raw duel of spiritual energy control."

Finally, the blue clothed and skinny youth, Fred Palpatine from Hailford City, spoke out. "Play Auto-Chess with me. I heard you are a great strategist who succeeded in repelling the demonic beast horde with ease. I just want to see if you are better than me in crafting strategies."

A faint smile crept onto Kael's face. He nearly wanted to burst out laughing. Who was he? He was the Invoker feared throughout the Hundred Realms!

Spirit Arrays? Spiritual Energy control? Auto-Chess? Did they seriously think that they could win against him?

However, Kael kept his cool. He couldn't afford to blow up his cover now and tell everyone about his reincarnation. Thus, he responded coolly. "Sure. I will compete with the three of you in these areas. Which one of you want to come first?"

"Let me." Adolf Gary came forward and stood in front of Kael. He had a craggy face with deep lines etched along the sides. His gray eyes were staring in a face-off with Kael.

Kael didn't back down but merely smiled faintly. "Spirit Arrays it is then. How are we going to compete in it?"

"Each of us draws a Spirit Array. Then the opponent has to find ways to break down the Spirit Arrays through attacking three weak points of the Array. Remember, only two tries are allowed. Also, we have only 15 minutes to draw the Spirit Array."

Kael nodded and gave a thumbs up.

Wallie Dawson, who was observing the whole situation unfolding right before his eyes, from the time the youths stood up till now, merely shook his head slightly. From his past experience with Kael, he was confident that Kael could win in Spirit Arrays and spiritual energy control.

Kael was able to create something as phenomenal as the Spirit Convergence Array, hence his understanding in Spirit Arrays from an unknown grandmaster must be sufficient enough to awe people from the Myriad Lower Region at the very least. As for spiritual energy control, Wallie Dawson had observed Kael's fight with the Venomancer, and he had to admit that Kael's control of spiritual energy was at a level that was incomparable in the whole Myriad Lower Region.

However, Auto-Chess was a rare treasure and a luxury for the rich. Did Kael even know what that was? Wallie Dawson was banking on the fact that Kael's unknown grandmaster teacher had at least exposed Kael to some theories of it.

Nonetheless, Wallie Dawson thought that it would suffice for Kael to win at least two out of the three matches. That would translate into having four cities cooperating to produce the hybrid cores. The remaining city would also have to give in eventually if they didn't want to get swallowed by the demonic beast horde due to their individual strength.

Thinking till here, Wallie Dawson felt some confidence surging in his heart. He took out an hourglass from his item bag and he placed it on the table. "15 minutes for the two participants. The time runs out when the last drop of sand passes through the hourglass."
