36 Doubling Monster Core

When Kael stepped out of the private suite and left the tavern, he felt a noticeable increase in strength. It was not in terms of cultivation level. No, he didn't break through to the Commoner Rank Middle Phase. However, there was a qualitative change in his physical strength.

Now, he would have more attack power when executing offensive Spirit Arts. Also, his body became more durable, allowing him to last longer in fights. His physical stamina had also increased. Generally, all aspects of his fighting abilities other than his spiritual energy had increased significantly.

This meant that he virtually had no opponents at the Commoner Rank Lower Phase that was as good as him in combat. From his experience in his previous life, even those true disciples from the great sects in the high-tier realms in the Hundred Realms might not even be his match now. This was because now he had the physical power of a Drow and the intelligence and wealth of experience as the Invoker.

As such, he could even rival opponents at the Commoner Rank Middle Phase with ease. This wasn't a self-inflated ego but an actual fact which Kael had utmost confidence in.

In time to come, as his body gradually assimilates the power of the Drow's essence blood into his bloodline and internal organs, his physical power would grow correspondingly to the increase in his cultivation level as well. This was good news to Kael, as that meant that he had now more options of Spirit Arts to choose from.

As the Invoker, he was more of a wizard that could summon the elemental powers to his own use. However, that was at the peak of cultivation level, at the Ancient Rank. From now till that level, Kael could very well use Spirit Arts that were useful even if it was not elemental based.

That meant he could do close combat, as well as using elemental attacks from long range.

Kael was now sifting through his past memories for any Spirit Arts that could complement his physical fighting power now as he walked through the main street to the common marketplace in Fledgling City.

There many onlookers in the streets that were observing Kael. By now, news of the ancient forging technique had already spread throughout the whole city. Naturally, Kael's physical appearance was imprinted in the hearts of the common people. This was a man who had made great contributions to the city and had even formed a pseudo-alliance with a powerful faction from the Myriad Middle Region!

The people revered Kael, and none actually dared to go forward to strike up a conversation with him. This was partly because they now treated Kael as a god, while another part was that Kael gave off a very cool and aloof temperament, making the normal person unapproachable to him.

Kael was ruminating, and he came to the conclusion that Octane Blast and Sunlight Throw were still the most basic and fundamental offensive Spirit Arts which he could rely on for the time being. The other physical based Spirit Arts required a corresponding higher cultivation level to learn and execute, if not its effects would be greatly diminished.

However, Kael thought of an additional defensive Spirit Art which he could apply right now, which was Berserker Armor. This Spirit Art allows the user to summon great defensive strength for a short amount of time, consuming spiritual energy to maintain the defense of his physical body. This would be useful when facing against humanoid opponents which boasted a huge variety of Spirit Arts.

As he was thinking and formulating his fighting capabilities and strategy, Kael reached the common marketplace, which was a district away from the city square.

The marketplace was a normal looking place; there were stalls laid out on both sides of the street, and there were peddlers selling their goods, hawking for customers and trying to get them to look at their products.

From his conversation with the City Lord, there was no black market where highly valuable stuffs were sold at a sky-high price. Within the vicinity, only Fairview City had such an available channel. Hence, what Kael saw was the limits of the marketplace in Fledgling City.

Much to his dismal, as he walked through the marketplace, there was no particular item that caught his eyes. Most of the stuff being sold were consumables like healing potions, magic twigs which boosted the stats of a cultivator, and low ranked weapons and armours that couldn't be sold elsewhere. There was none of the Heaven and Earth treasures that Kael was looking for which could be ingested by himself and the Drakes for cultivation.

Kael remembered the City Lord's words, that most of the cultivation resources in Fledgling City were found in Myriad Fledgling Institute. Depressed, he started to walk away from the marketplace.

Suddenly, someone shouted from behind.

"Isn't this Young Master Kael? Dear Sir, come and take a look at the goods that I have!" A middle-aged peddler dressed in grey peasant clothing recognized Kael and was trying to pull Kael to take a look at his store.

Kael didn't manage to look at this particular peddler's goods when he was walking past, as it was near the end. He was a bit annoyed that there was nothing particularly fancy here, and now that there was someone who tried to pester him, he was feeling even more displeased.

"Dear Sir, there might be nothing that caught your eyes here today, but I assure you that I've found a treasure here! A hunter managed to find this special monster core from the Black Heart Forest. He couldn't find an avenue to sell it as it was appraised as nothing valuable by the other sellers in other cities. That was why he asked me to sell it. However, there is more than it meets the eye for this monster core. Let me show you!"

The peddler, without waiting for Kael to respond, hurriedly ran back to his stall and picked up a round white ball. He then presented it to Kael and said, "This looks like a normal monster core of a Commoner Rank Lower Phase beast. However, when you inject spiritual energy to it, it will duplicate itself!"

After speaking, the peddler demonstrated while holding the ball. Sure enough, the ball fizzled after spiritual energy was injected into it. The next moment, another monster core grew out of this particular monster core.

Kael's eyes grew big. "Doubling Monster Core?"
