1 Prologue

There are three things that you should know about people and life. Of course, this is all especially true if you just do happen to be an omega. Like my best friend, Sarah Léon, who also happens to be my omega sister.

• Never trust.

• Never borrow.

• Never think anything is permanent.

My sister and I learned these truths the hard way, and so have many others. There is a fundamental difference between genders. We learned about them when we were in second grade; basic curriculum.

Omegas: Viewed as more of an object than a person. Seen as a docile and feminine human, female or male. They have the ability to give birth to a child, even if the are a male. Omegas go through something called a "heat cycle" for a week, once a month. Bluntly put, they get super horny and release pheromones that smell sweet and fruity, and can make some other genders blinded by lust. Omegas are extremely rare. They make up 3% of the world's population. Male omegas make up 0.5% of the population.

Betas: Betas make up about 86% of the worlds population. They are viewed as "normal people." Betas come in all shapes and sizes, and tend to not be excessively beautiful like omegas. They aren't ugly though. But I'm not going to say there aren't some that... well... heh. Anyway, Betas aren't affected by an omega's heat. They tend to stick with their own gender, Beta & Beta.

Alphas: Alphas make up 10.75% of the human population. Alphas tend to have large and muscular physiques and are very dominant and smart. They are said to all be geniuses and they take up most of the controlling and powerful positions in the world. A.k.a. Government and politics and company CEOs. That kind of thing. Alphas are strongly affected by and omega's pheromones. They get lusty... heh. Okay, and they think they own everything, they're super arrogant and can get away with openly murdering someone half the time.

Enigmas: Enigmas make up the last 0.15% of the human population. Basically, they're almost a rumor. All I know about them is that they can turn an alpha or beta into an omega with they're pheromones. Like, the body literally changes, making childbirth possible for even male alphas and Betas, and eventually make them look like omegas too. That's all I know.

My name is Aaron Léon. I'll explain my gender later. My sister is an omega. We both come from an all-alpha household, so when we were born 18 years ago -we're twins- we were said to be rejects, and that's how we came to grow up with our omega mother, David Léon. Before you ask, he's an omega. That's why I said mother. He took us in with and supported us as a single, and now Sarah and I are starting starting university. I'm worried a lot because she hasn't gotten her heat cycle yet... and with omegas r*** is common. She could get mated to someone against her will. Alphas are always seeking out omegas because they're so rare.

Sometimes I'm not just scared for my sister though. I'm constantly scared for myself. The thing is, I'm a biological anomaly. Twins aren't born as different genders. They are both alpha, both beta, or both omega. My sister is definitely an omega. But the thing with me is... I have omega sex organs. I can have a kid. I'm beautiful like an omega, so people assume I am one. Until they get close. I smell utterly like a beta. My test results that I take every single year say I'm a beta. I don't go into heat once a month.

I'm a beta and omega at the same time. Mom and I took my first test at home instead of the hospital, and so I've never gone into a hospital for a test. I could become a test subject or something, and I can't leave Sarah alone. She's the perfect example of a late bloomer omega, and I couldn't live with myself if she got sabotaged with her first heat and got marked without thinking it through properly.

It's very possible in college.

Speaking of, I may look like an omega, but I don't have the personality, and I'm strong. I worked two summer jobs for two summers to help pay for Sarah's college fees. For myself, I have to work one last summer and then I can go to college. So, I in fact start my job tomorrow. Meaning, I'm going out shopping today with my sister and mother. By the way, mom took Sarah and I in at the age of twenty. She's only thirty-nine right now. While Sarah and I will be nineteen in a month.

Who knew that in that month's time, my life would turn so tragic and lovely at the company Searan?
