14 Seraphina

A mirror of my first awakening greeted me with the sight of the red dragon. I recognized the injured dragon as one of my siblings, but I couldn't tell which one.

"Hey sis…" I muttered as I rolled over onto my belly. I knew the dragon was a female because her head was slender.

"What in the hell did you think you were doing Scourge?" She replied angrily. Her toothy grin transformed into an angry snarl the second I spoke.

"What was I doing? Hmm, I don't really know… I had to follow the elves because I couldn't fight them," I said as I stood up to perform a cat stretch.

"Don't just brush this off Scourge! It's like you want natural selection to do its job or something. What's wrong with you? That Emreilda is dangerous! I lost my left leg to her."

"You lost your leg trying to save me? Why would you risk your well-being for a dumbass like me?" I asked, genuinely interested in how she knew where I was.

"I heard a big fight, and I saw wildlife running from your direction, so I came to see what was up. When I got there, all I saw was destroyed trees and a crater in the ground. Then, a green dragon flew headfirst into the biggest tree in the area and broke through it. When I got to that hole, I saw you on the ground and Emreilda hounding over you."

Seraphina's words made me think back on the fight with Meridith. I think Sera saved me before Emreilda could empty my stomach's content.

I opened my mouth wide and started to roll out my tongue, startling Sera. She looked at me in disgust as I regurgitated. Meridith soon tumbled from my gullet completely awake but still injured. She looked up to me and then to Seraphina and used her hands to crawl to the wall of this well-lit cave.

"M-Magnus, I was inside of you? Oh my god! I smell horrible!… I'm not dead?" Meredith didn't know where she was when she woke, but she was still in a ridiculous amount of pain. For some reason, she couldn't use any magic to heal herself.

"First of all, why was there a female elf inside of you? Secondly, why did she call you Magnus?" Seraphina asked, pissed-off at her ignorance.

"This is the elf that I fought outside the town. When I beat her, I didn't want to kill her, so I guess I just put her into my non-digestive tract. I have no idea why she calls me Magnus, she must be delusional. I probably hit her on the head too hard." I replied as cold sweat ran down my forehead.

"You guys better think twice before eating me. I possess the strongest magic in the entire elven race and will not be taken easily!" Meredith said as she raised her hands in an attack that looked to be similar to the binding vines. After a few seconds in that pose, Meridith finally realized she couldn't use magic. "What did you do to me?" She questioned as she tried another healing magic.

"If I am near anything or anyone for five minutes they can no longer use magic until they are no longer in my presence. Hey Seraphina, how far are we from the volcano?" As I shifted my gaze to Seraphina, Meridith tried to make a run for it. I wrapped my tail around her waist and brought her to my face. My head was almost as big as her elfen body. I stared directly into her eyes. "Don't move," I ordered. Giving her no time to retaliate, I placed her back in my mouth.

"Wait! No! I'm sorry. Don't put me back in that hellhole!" She screamed and flailed her body around.

"Hey Scourge, you should stop that. Don't put that vile woman inside of you!" Seraphina spurted in disgust. So I retrieved Meridith from my mouth and placed her back on the ground.

"Hey Sera, how far are we from the volcano?" I asked. I wanted to get to the volcano to test my resistance to the lava and maybe find refuge.

"We are at the volcano right now. Why do you want to be here?"

"Eh? No reason. Just thought it was cool…"

"Hmmm, okay Scourge. Just don't get yourself killed… again."

"Can you take me to the northern side of the volcano, please?"

"Umm, are you sure you want to go to the northern side? That's where Hullberg, the lava port city of the southeast, is located."

"Ooh, that sounds interesting. Maybe I'll check it out."

"How are you going to visit the city Scourge? Maybe try using your head for once, you dimwit!"

"Don't worry Sera, Meridith will figure out a way for me to get there."

"I will?" Meredith questioned, joining the conversation.

"Yes, you will," I replied.

"Ah right… I will," she said as she looked away from me and tried to think of something.

Meridith had one idea that she could think for Magnus to be able to enter the city. A shrinking spell. The spell would take all her mana and shrink the target, then she would cast an enlargement spell to get him back to his regular size. The spell didn't constantly take magic so it shouldn't disperse in five minutes. After the initial use, there was no magic connected.

"I have an idea," Meridith said as she approached the two dragons.

"If I can somehow use magic on you to your size, you will be able to ride on my shoulder. Not many humans know of dragons and they will think you are a baby wyvern. Wyverns are legal mounts so if you are fine with being my pet again, it will all work out."

I thought about her proposal and knew that there was a risk too it. She was the risk. In order to let her use magic again, I would need to get away from her then come back. In those few minutes, she could try to kill Seraphina or escape.

"I will let you use magic again, but while I'm gone you will stay in the corner of the room and Seraphina will watch you until I get back. Sera be careful, if Meridith so much as moves then you are to bathe her in fire." I said to which Seraphina nodded. I turned to leave the cave and almost left when I heard Sera speak once again.
