145 Two Noteworthy Recruits

Three months passed since Yun's arrival at Xiapi in which many things happened beginning with Zang Ba sending over the gold as accorded beforehand in Kaiyang.

The next thing was the wedding between Hua and Taiyin which was small with a few officials from the other cities and towns coming to show respect while Yun was drinking happily which surprised many of the Generals since he normally wouldn't drink that much.

But on that day he was drinking and dancing something that would normally never happen which made Hua as well as Taiyin feel more comfortable since the Yun they normally talk to wasn't present but only the older brother of the groom.

But Mulan, Fang, and Zheng felt quite embarrassed of seeing their father dance with himself before Zhen Luo stepped in and she danced with him making the trio sigh in relief.

Soon Yun danced with the bride congratulating her for joining their family before asking when he could expect his first nephew from them which made Taiyin only smile at him.

The time passed fast and soon Yun could sniff it out of Taiyin as he always does and told her to not go to work since she was pregnant and he didn't want her to have a miscarriage.

More time passed and winter arrived which made many people feel excited while Yun became a bit restless. Once the winter was over he would have to marry Zhen Luo who was already planning her wedding since Hua's wedding was over with her and Yun's mother.

More people would attend this wedding because Yun was the Inspector of Xu which included Cao Cao and some of his Generals and maybe some people from the south such as Sun Quan and some of his Generals to keep him safe.

Yun on the other hand was looking out for new talents which he could recruit from the most famous people that have lived in this era before his eyes fell on a particular name in the ranks of the recruits.

Yun was thinking that it was a mistake or that the name was written the same but it was another person when he says to Dian Wei, "Can you bring me the person on this paper?"

"Of course," says Dian Wei taking the piece of paper from Yun's hands before reading the name on it feeling confused.

He moves out of the room to get the person while Yun sighs before thinking, 'Let's hope that he hasn't infiltrated into my army just to make sure that we don't attack the south.'

Yun was holding his head before another name popped up for him from all the names on the list and he wrote another name on another piece of paper before sighing and holding his head.

'I will grow older than I already am because of them,' thinks Yun before putting the list away since no other name stuck out to him.

Yun waited for Dian Wei to arrive with the first person who was a young man in his early entering mid-twenties being around 1,7 to 1,8m tall with short black hair.

"Do you know why you were summoned here?" asks Yun seriously still sitting in his chair.

"Is it because I once used to be a soldier of the Sun Army?" asks the man a bit confused since it was normal for soldiers to change army if they felt dissatisfied with their current army.

"You could say so," says Yun confirming it as he stands up and comes from behind his desk before standing in front of the man.

"What do you think it looks like to me or Sun Quan when you suddenly out of nowhere come to Xiapi and join my army? How am I going to explain this to my future son-in-law?" asks Yun out of the man looking down since he was taller than the man while giving Dian Wei the other piece of paper.

Dian Wei leaves the room knowing that Yun has everything under control at the moment to get the next person on the list.

"I don't know," says the man making Yun sigh before closing his eyes for a moment.

'Is he still at the phase where he hasn't learned anything,' thinks Yun before opening his eyes again and saying, "It could be seen as you being a spy placed in my army to gather information for Sun Quan from my point of view while from Sun Quan's point of view, it could be seen as me scouting his talented people from him trying to weaken him."

The man now became nervous since he didn't consider this which made Yun sigh before saying, "I will give you two options one could make my life easier while the other could become a headache since I won't know how the other party will react."

Yun returned to his desk and sat down on his chair before saying, "The first option would be to return to Sun Quan and join his army again. I will send a letter with you explaining the situation that you didn't think it through back then."

"And the second?" asks the man knowing that the first option would make Yun's life easier.

"The second would be to join my army and I would have to send a letter explaining to Sun Quan that I had nothing to do with you joining my ranks. I won't know how well he will take that but I can imagine not well," says Yun looking at the man before asking seriously, "Now, Lu Meng, how do you decide?"

"I would love to stay in your army," says Lu Meng with conviction which made Yun sigh while he massages his temples.

"Fine, but you will be forced to learn literary skills. It will help you in the long run of your career," says Yun hoping that it will help Lu Meng as it would have helped him under Sun Quan in history.

"Yes, sir," says Lu Meng saluting happy that he could stay.

"Good then go back to work," says Yun to Lu Meng dismissing him as he now had to write a letter to Sun Quan explaining the situation around Lu Meng joining him instead of staying with them.

'Now, who do I ask to teach him,' thinks Yun before he had a bright idea and he smiles while thinking, 'Guo Jia is the right man for this job.'

Soon Dian Wei returned with an even younger recruit he seemed to be a teen around the same age as his children and Zhen Luo. He was a bit smaller than Lu Meng making him be around 1,6m to 1,7m tall.

"You are a long way away from home, wouldn't it have been better for you to join Sun Quan instead of traveling to Xiapi to join me?" asks Yun curious to find out why this person came to Xiapi.

"I don't know if I would be welcomed by Sun Quan since our families were at odds once," says the teen seriously giving Yun a different vibe than Lu Meng gave him beforehand.

"If you want revenge against the Sun Family for what happened to your family then you are wrong here. My daughter will be marrying Sun Quan after next winter and my second son will be marrying Sun Ren if they are compatible," says Yun seriously wanting to see what an expression the teen would make.

The teen didn't show disappointment which made Yun smile as he hears, "I don't want revenge on the Sun Clan but the Yuan Clan. It was Yuan Shu that ordered Sun Ce to take Lujiang that order killed my granduncle and made my family flee back to Wu in the Wu Commandery."

"What about your family?" asks Yun curious to find out where the rest of his family was.

"My family most likely joined Sun Quan already since they wanted to stay near our ancestral home. I just wanted to join someone bigger," says the teen showing his ambition.

"Well, I can't say that I am not flattered but going by what you said Sun Quan is bigger than me since he is a Warlord just like Cao Cao while I am only a General," says Yun bluntly.

"You are far more than a General, General Zhao. You are a symbol of victory. Wherever you appear victory is sure to follow," says the teen seriously which flattered Yun a bit but he could see that the teen wasn't trying to flatter him.

"Many call you the God of War and one who was called that before is under your command. You might be able to hide your ambition behind your rank but I know that you like every other man in power is scheming something big," says the teen showing his intelligence which made Yun chuckle from behind his desk while Dian Wei was only sighing because the teen was right on spot.

"Everyone is playing the short game but I am playing the long game. I don't want to sit on a throne. What I want is that my family name continues on throughout all Dynasties that will come and go," says Yun surprising the teen before asking, "What do you think of the game that I am playing?"

"Do you really think that it is possible to make your name echo throughout the times?" asks the teen curious as Yun turns serious.

"It is you only need to leave a big mark in history like Qin Shi Huang and Liu Bang. I will also be remembered and maybe even be revered as the God of War for a long time until another man with my capabilities takes my spot," says Yun seriously as his blood began to pump through his veins in excitement thinking about Lucius who should have lived many more lives than he could even imagine and all of them must have been accomplished.

"But let's stop talking about me and talk about you, Lu Xun. You are an intelligent young man and it seems that you have some talent to become a strategist. How about you become the student of Pang Tong? He is my main strategist and you might become the main strategist of my son, Fang, in the near future since we all have to bite the dust one day," says Yun foreshadowing his own as well the death of everyone else since they aren't immortal.

"It would be an honor to learn under Strategist Pang Tong," says Lu Xun with conviction making a devilish smile appear on Yun's and Dian Wei's faces.

"Good, since you became a strategist you will need to learn how to defend yourself on the battlefield just like every other of my strategists since you will be one of the main targets for the enemy to get the army into disarray," says Yun before looking at Dian Wei while Lu Xun looked at them confused because he wasn't understanding why they had such evil grins on their faces.

"I will tell Pang Tong the good news," says Dian Wei in excitement before leaving the room to get Pang Tong while Yun looked at the confused Lu Xun.

"You will be going through hell like every other strategist and scholar that entered my force since my army is only as strong as the weakest link in it. And in this case, it is the strategists and scholars who are the weakest link since they never waved a sword in their life only a brush or feather which will change for you today," says Yun seeing Lu Xun still confused since he was trained with the other recruits before and it wasn't that hard.

But soon he would regret thinking like that when Pang Tong entered the room with Dian Wei. Pang Tong looked at Lu Xun and was examining him.

"He is a pretty boy like your brother," says Pang Tong surprising Lu Xun who felt offended by being called a pretty boy while Yun and Dian Wei began to laugh.

"Don't let him hear you or you will face his spear," says Yun jokingly which made a smile appear on Pang Tong's face.

"Well, you say that I should teach him. Do I have to put him through Hell as well?" asks Pang Tong a bit excited which confused Lu Xun while Yun only nods making an even bigger smile appear on Pang Tong's face.

"Good, we will begin your training tomorrow at the first crow of the hen," says Pang Tong before leaving the room in excitement trying to remember the hell he went through to become Yun's main strategist to put Lu Xun through it.

"Will I be ok?" asks Lu Xun a bit scared now.

"You will survive it," says Yun before slapping the teen on the back to give him some confidence.

"Anyway, I have work to do. Dian Wei, give this note to Guo Jia. He will know what to do afterward," says Yun handing a small note to Dian Wei in which he instructs Guo Jia to teach Lu Meng before sending both out of his office to continue his work so he could train later Zheng a bit.
