10 Arriving at The Research Facility

As Alex was pondering over his thoughts about visiting the research facility. He couldn't decide whether to take his friends or not.

He wanted to call his dad immediately and asked him whether he can visit or not, and if he can, then can he take his friends with him or not.

Because this was important, if he already invited his friends for the visit and later they found that they can't visit the research facility, then it will be embarrassing for Alex.

So, he called his dad and it was a good idea to inquire about the visit. His dad told him that they were allowed to visit six months ago, but due to some recent developments in the facility, they are not allowing anyone who is not related to the research facility to visit for whatever the reason might be.

But, he was quite surprised by his dad's reply, he found himself lucky. His dad was going to the research facility to gather some information about recruitment.

His company was going to hire people and to be more accurate in hiring, they were sending his dad to the facility to gather information on what fronts they need to expand and hire.

His dad told him that he will be able to take Alex with him because he had a friend in the facility who was able to get permission, but he will only be able to take Alex with him.

Later that day, when Alex found that he will be able to go for a visit and will get to look around and he was also informed by his father that he will be accompanied by a doctor of the research facility to answer his questions.

"But why would a researcher accompany me?", a thought suddenly flashed in Alex's mind. But he didn't think much about it as he was looking forward to the visit.

Alex was quite happy about being able to get a chance to visit and ask about the research they were doing in person. He found that he will be visiting the research facility with his dad on the day after tomorrow.

He still had a day to prepare for his visit. He shut himself inside his room and started gathering information about the researches going on currently in the research facility with the help of the internet.

But, he found himself disappointed, he found a lot of information about the research facility itself but was unable to find any useful information about the research apart from the obvious ones.

This kind of search increased his curiosity about the research facility which was just a few hundred kilometres away from the city.

He couldn't find any meaningful information on the internet, and the ones he found had very little information on the internet. This sure was a top-secret lab conducting a lot of different types of research but had a little about them made public.

" I wonder why is there so little information available to the public. Even the government is involved in this research. They sure are working a lot recently. Even dad got a headache who is very proficient at his work had to take a leave to release some pressure", thought Alex.

In his personal research on the facility, he found that the facility was huge and multiple experiments were underway simultaneously which was one of the reasons for the manpower it required. As for the topics of the research were very limited to the people of the city.

While he was doing all of these while sitting in his room, he felt hungry a bit. He looked at the clock and was dumbfounded. It was already evening and the sun is already down. "I already used the whole day doing this...", Alex sighed.

" Let's see what I can do tomorrow since tomorrow is the day university starts. I wonder how my friends from Marble Lake City are doing...", thought Alex while coming out of his room.

The night quickly passed and this was the day for Alex to go to university. He packed his bag which he usually takes to college and went.

The distance between his house and the University was not much. He just had to travel by metro for four stations in between. He didn't have to worry about traffic, so he reached on time.

He quickly caught up with his friends from college. The name of his university was put on the name of the city. It was called "The University of Midland Park". It was well-known in the neighbouring small tier cities.

Alex felt that the first day of this semester was quite long as he was waiting for the next day to come. He was extremely excited. Why wouldn't he be? he was going to visit the biggest research facility in the country.

He chatted with his friends. He attended all the lectures. He told all of his friends that he is going to visit the research facility. Some of his friends were happy and asked to bring some pictures, while some were envious of him.

Some even talked badly about the facility only because they didn't get to visit. Some of even tried in the past to go there but got disappointed instead. They didn't get the entry and now Alex was getting one, how can they not be jealous?

He simply ignored them. What else can he do about them? It's not like he can take them with him. If he could, then won't he bring his friends with him. He told his friends that he can not bring them with him and they understood.

The day was over, he came home and packed his things such as his camera, a pocket notebook and a pen to take notes whenever he could.

Next day.

This was the day. He was going to visit the biggest lab in the country.

He and his dad left home early, it was way too early for them, they usually got up at right in the morning, but today they for up at five and left their house at five thirty.

And they were going not by using their car, but they could only go there using the vehicles of the research facility which were sent daily to receive and drop the workers of the facility. These pickup buses came at six in the morning.

They went to one of the pickup stops and waited for the pickup bus. Nearly after ten minutes, the bus arrived at the stop. All the workers who worked there boarded the bus along with Alex and his dad.

All the workers were in their uniforms already, which was light grey in colour from top to bottom. They had a full shirt tucked in their pants and their pants were also in a light grey colour with pockets on both sides. They almost looked like a construction worker.

The bus was quite fast. It was a good thing that the pickup buses came at six in the morning, this way they avoid getting stuck in the traffic afterwards.

When the bus came out of the city and took to the highway. Alex noticed that there were many buses joining the highway from different sectors of the city. They all were in the same colour with the same title on each one of them. The buses driving in line looked like a caravan.

The buses drove for around two and a half hours at high speed before reaching to the research facility.

"We are here! Let's go... ", a worker sitting in front said and opened the door and walked out first.

"We have arrived at the research facility, dad", Alex said in an excited voice."Indeed!", Alex's dad replied with a calm expression.
